Welcome to the fifth chapter of The Saga of Pleasantview. If you haven't read chapters 1-4, I would recommend doing so now. Happy simming and enjoy the story.
- Dina had given birth to twin boys, Justin and Andrew Goth. She had called Kaylynn to set her plan in motion.
- Mary Sue and Daniel were repairing a marriage after giving birth to another set of twins.
- The Brokes had moved into a new house (a gift from Mortimer).
- Cassandra and Darren were trying to make their new living arrangment work.
- Don had shown up unexpectedly to surprise Nina and his kids. Dina called Kaylynn up to tell her that everything was a go. Kaylynn would be stopping by later to "clean the house" while Dina was out shopping. Alex would be at school and it would be the perfect moment to set the plan in motion. Cassandra finally agreed to come visit her father. Mortimer had barely seen his daughter since his wedding day and had yet to see his grandchildren. When she arrived with the twins, he could instantly see why she had been hiding. His daughter was definitely hiding some things from him. All he wanted was her happiness but he could see from the look on her face that she was less than happy at this moment. As Kaylynn stared into the face of her little girl, she realized that she was going to have to tell the father. As much as she wanted to hide from the world, she would have to face the truth eventually. Nina had been glad to learn who the father was but Kaylynn wasn't so sure that Mary Sue would be as happy. Angela Pleasant was making new friends in various aspects of her life. After Kaylynn was fired, her mother finally hired a new maid to help out while she took care of the twins. His name was Remington and Angela was getting to know him quite well. He even asked her if she would want to go out sometime after she turned eighteen. Don held his son in his arms and looked into his little face. He could not believe that he was actually a father. He had been living as a family with Cassandra and her children for several months before the divorce. He had not realized that he could grow so attached to infants in such a short amount of time. He was determined to be a part of his children's lives. As Kaylynn entered the room holding a daughter in her arms, he finally broached the topic of who the father was. He was relieved to know that he had only fathered one set of twins in this household. For once, the future looked bright and simple to him. He knew what he wanted. As scheduled, Dina returned home from shopping to find Mortimer in bed with Kaylynn. She felt her stomach drop as she walked into the room. Even though she had set the whole thing up, she had had her doubts about Mortimer going through with it. Kaylynn felt incredibly cheap as she listened to Dina slap Mortimer across the cheek. It had taken a large amount of effort to pull this stunt off but its what she had agreed to do. She wasn't sure if Dina needed to know about the several rounds of champagne that were involved prior to the event. The females of Pleasantview were slowly starting to realize that they had to stick together. Life was only getting more complicated for most of them and it seemed to be in the men department. Maybe if they stuck together or at least formed a support group, they could all make it through everything. Against her better judgement, Nina agreed to let Don take her on a date. He chose a romantic park set just outside of the hustle and bustle of Pleasantview. As darling as the park was, Nina worried about Don's intentions. Was he going to jerk her along again? They were walking across the bridge when Nina turned around to find Don kneeling on one knee. Before she could stop him, he was pulling out a black box that contained a ring. She could not believe her eyes - Don Lothario was proposing to her! As much as she wanted to say yes, the rational part of her brain told her that things were moving to fast.
"I can't believe that you thought a little ring could fix everything!" Nina yelled at Don, attracting the attention of park goers. "You haven't been around for the past few months and all of a sudden, you want marriage? And what about Cassandra? What's become of her? Did she finally come to her senses?" "I guess you could say she did. I found her in bed with Darren a couple of months ago. The divorce was finalized last week - the day I came to see you and the twins." Don replied.
"And what's your excuse for not visiting?"
"I was busy - with the divorce and all."
"That's no excuse - you're either there all the way or not at all." Nina replied, storming out of the park. Kaylynn finally decided to be brave and headed over to the home of the Pleasants. Mary Sue greeted on the front lawn. Kaylynn had been hoping to talk to Daniel alone but it looked like Mary Sue was going to be home for this one. Mary Sue could not believe the courage that Kaylynn had. The girl almost ruined the Pleasants' marriage, yet was willing to return. This surely had disaster written all over it. "Well, you see Mrs. Pleasant, there's something I want to talk to you about." Kaylynn began, trying to gain strength.
"Please, call me Mary Sue. Mrs. Pleasant makes me sound old." Mary Sue was trying to be nice.
"Well, Mary Sue. I came to apologize." "Apologize?" Mary Sue asked. "What for?"
"For - well, for sleeping with your husband." Kaylynn said before realizing something. "He did tell you, didn't he?"
"Yes, he did. But that was almost a year ago, why are you bringing it back up now?" Mary Sue asked.
"Well, there's something I need to talk to Daniel about." Kaylynn began.
"What's that? He's not home right now but I can tell him." Mary Sue replied, knowing that Daniel was somewhere inside. "Well, after that night, I found out that I was pregnant. I gave birth to twins a couple of months ago and I've eliminated all the other possibilities for the father." Kaylynn rambled on. Mary Sue's face took on an evil expression and Kaylynn feared what was coming next. Mary Sue slapped Kaylynn across the face.
"I'm not through with you yet." Mary Sue sputtered as she turned to go inside. "Do you remember a certain little maid?" Mary Sue spat out when she entered the bedroom.
"You mean Kaylynn?" Daniel asked. As Mary Sue slapped him across the face, he realized that he probably should have "forgotten" her by now.
"Yes, her." Mary Sue said through gritted teeth. "Why do you ask?" Daniel questioned.
"Because she's standing outside claiming to have had your children!" Mary Sue yelled before returning outside to deal with Kaylynn. Daniel stood in shock for a couple of minutes. Mortimer stood shamefaced in front of Dina. He wasn't sure how things had come to this. He was not the kind of man that cheated on his wife and he wasn't enjoying the way Dina was looking at him.
"Dina, I have no idea how this happened. If there is ANYTHING I can do to make this up to you, I will. I love you more than you could ever know." Mortimer looked straight at her. "I'm sorry." When Daniel finally made it outside, he found Mary Sue and Kaylynn fighting viciously on the front lawn. From his angle, he couldn't tell who was winning. He knew who he should be cheering for but he didn't really know who he wanted to be cheering for. Mary Sue won the fight in the end and Kaylynn quickly left the lawn. She hated the humiliation that had come with today and she hadn't even gotten to speak to Daniel. All she could hope is that Mary Sue had passed on the message. She was certainly not welcome back at that house again. "You love me?" Dina stared at him.
"Of course I do. Do you think I would've married you if I didn't?" Mortimer smiled.
"I guess not. But you've rarely told me how you feel." Dina replied.
"You don't tell me very often." Mortimer replied. "I love you Dina Goth and I will do anything to make this up to you."
"I love you too Morty." Dina replied. She wasn't sure when or how it happened but she had truly fallen for Mortimer and wasn't quite ready to give him up just yet. Mortimer leaned in for a passionate kiss and hoped that he wasn't rejected. Dina returned the kiss with more enjoyment than she normally felt. She was Mrs. Mortimer Goth and for once she didn't want out of the marriage. Daniel found Mary Sue out front later that night.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Mary Sue asked.
"I didn't know." Daniel replied.
"You didn't ask her about it?"
"When would I have seen her?"
"Around town - Pleasantview isn't that big. We all know that." "Well, I hadn't seen her and I hadn't talked to her." Daniel replied.
"I want you to leave." Mary Sue replied.
"What? Why?"
"Because this is no longer something that we can put behind us. I can't just pretend it didn't happen anymore." Mary Sue replied.
"But things haven't changed."
"Yes - yes they have." Mortimer and Dina slowly inched towards the bed, where Dina allowed herself to give into Mortimer. Mortimer hadn't felt this alive since - well he didn't know when the last time was that he felt like this. After a busy night, the two fell fast asleep. Dina had finally found her safe zone and she was not about to give it up over something she devised herself. She could enjoy the Goth fortune and Mortimer's company at the same time. Mary Sue had to turn away as Daniel buried his head in his hands. She didn't want to end their marriage just yet but she also knew that things could never be what they used to be. She was willing to give him another chance but only after they spent some time apart. If after a few months, they found themselves in each other's arms - then it was meant to be. This was the ultimate test of love. Mary Sue sat the girls down in the living room. Both were quite distraught to hear that things had gone wrong between their parents. Angela offered little condolense, saying she had a date with Dustin in a half-hour. Lilith sat by her mother for hours that night. Alex was sneaking in late from a date when his grandmother scared him. With a bunch of ghosts roaming the property, Alex knew he should have come home sooner. At least his father would never have to know. Mary Sue could not believe that her marriage had ended. She had been feeling worse and worse lately. She would never have thought that things could have this big of an effect on her. Dirk was having a hard time getting adjusted to the new addition to the household, especially with Cassandra and Darren not speaking. He didn't quite understand his father's reasoning for not marrying Cassandra. It was soon time for Lance and Amy to grow up. Lilith and Angela brought their siblings to the cake as Mary Sue cheered from behind. Daniel was unable to make it due to work. Don could not believe the way the afternoon had turned out. He hadn't exactly expected Nina to accept his proposal but he also did not anticipate the response he got. He wasn't entirely sure what to do from here, so he called an old friend over for lunch and to unload his problems. In only a few short months, Mary Sue came to realize the cause of her sickness. She was pregnant. This could not be happening again - not with things the way they were. Brandi hadn't been out of the house since the twins were born so she was glad when Don called. Dustin quickly encouraged her to go and she was out the door before she knew it. Lunch with Don was relaxing - for once she was listening to someone else's problems instead of thinking about her own. To keep her company, Cassandra adopted a kitten. Darren was generally against it but Cassandra couldn't resist the adorable little face. Cassandra was finally able to hang out with Don in a friendlike manner. He would come to play games and the two of them would talk for hours about their problems and the future. Don had come to accept that Cassandra was telling the truth about this baby and was wiling to help out. Darren would have preferred for Don to disappear all together. Daniel Pleasant looked at his new house. He had suddenly lost everything that had ever meant anything to him - his wife, his kids, his house, the money. Mary Sue had gotten it all. The only thing left for Daniel was this little place the wad of cash in his wallet. Life was beginning to look a bit bleak. Dina Goth stared into the toliet. There was no way that this was happening again. When did she sign on to be a mother?
