Now, let's get to the story...
It was an adjustment for everyone at the Goth Mansion when Alexander and his friends returned. Dustin found himself spending a lot of time helping Dina with the toddlers. He would never admit it to anyone but he wanted a family of his own someday. He had helped his mother raise Beau and the twins for a while before going to college and it came naturally to him. Dirk was also wiling to help out around the house. He wasn't always sure what he was doing but he knew with some practice, he could get used to helping out with the kids. With four little ones in the house, he knew that Dina could use any and all help that was offered. Plus, Dirk hadn't found a job yet, so he had a lot of time on his hands. Alexander had gotten a job at a local science lab and it was a popular topic at the breakfast table. Alexander would share some of the information about things they were workingon and the boys would share their ideas. Dina was beginning to feel like a fourth wheel. Alexander was like a son to her but she could tell that he secretly wanted his freedom. "I've made a decision." Dina announced when the boys finished their conversation.
"What's that?" Dirk asked.
"The kids and me are going to move out." Dina broke the news.
"Why?" Dustin asked, surprised.
"Well, you guys are obviously ready to be on your own and this place isn't really big enough for all of us to live - comfortably anyways." Dina thought for a moment. "I think it would be best for everyone."
"You're welcome to stay." Alexander said. "I don't want you to feel like anyone is telling you otherwise. This is as much your home as mine."
"That means a lot to me Alexander, but I really think it's time for me to get out on my own. We have to move on at some point." Dina said, as she looked around at the home she had shared with Mortimer.
Dina spent the next couple of days looking for a place to live. Dustin and Dirk watched the kids while she visited house after house in the neighborhood. Many of the places were either too expensive or too small. She eventually found a place to live and made the phone calls. She could move in sooner than she thought. Dustin found her in the bedroom after she had hung up the phone.
"Do you not feel welcome here?" Dustin asked.
"No, I do. And you guys have been a big help with the kids. I just feel like..." Dina let her voice trail off.
"Like what?" Dustin asked.
"Like I'm depriving you guys of your youth. You should be having parties and dating and enjoying life at your age. Not changing diapers and feeding babies." Dina told him.
"It's nothing new for me." Dustin stated.
"I know, but like your mother, I think you should have some time to worry about yourself and no one else. You have plenty of time ahead of you to worry about a family. Right now, you should be enjoying being a bachelor." Dina replied, leaving the room.
Alex watched as his stepmother walked towards the cab. He hadn't realized how much he was going to miss Dina. He hadn't wanted her to move in at first but now he knew that she had been the best thing for their family. He was going to find some way to make her happy. Dina turned and looked at the Goth Mansion one last time before climbing into the cab. It was time for her to have a fresh start. She only wished that she had some company this time.

After working out excessively and getting himself back in shape, Don called Lucy Hanby, the maid over. She immediately came onto him but he pushed her back. He knew what he had to do and he didn't hesitate for a second. Lucy didn't like the fact that he fired her but it had to be done if he was ever going to get Nina back. Don searched through his closet and found a new shirt and clean pants to put on. It had been a long time since he tried this hard to look presentable. He went downtown and got himself a haircut. He stared at the new him in the mirror. He could only hope that it was enough to get Nina back. He dialed Nina's number and asked her out for a date. She agreed to see him the next night and suggested that they have the date at her place. Don couldn't believe that things were actually working out! Nina put on a black dress and looked at herself in the mirror. It was hard to try to be sexy when her stomach was growing more each day, but she hoped that Don could look past that on this date. Nina waddled out to meet Don on the front lawn. As she came towards him, he couldn't believe this was happening. She looked better than ever and he couldn't believe that she was giving him a third chance. Nina embraced Don in a big hug and commented on his improved appearance. She knew that she could be getting in over her head but it was a chance that she was going to take. After dinner, Don pulled Nina close to him and the two of them danced for an hour. Don hummed a low tune for the music since the radio wasn't playing anything good. Both were happy to be in each other's embrace. Don pulled back for a minute and pulled Nina into a gentle kiss. The two talked long into the night before Don proclaimed that he needed to leave. Don knew that they needed to take things slow - for Nina's sake - and he didn't want to ruin it by staying too late. Later that night, Nina came downstairs to answer the phone and caught a glimpse of someone on the doorstep. As she got closer, she could see that it was Don, leaving. Sitting on her doorstep was a single red rose with a sweet message attached. She couldn't believe that Don was turning into a romantic.

Daniel found himself doing most of the baby work around the house. Kaylynn had insisted on returning to work after the babies were born. They didn't have enough money for a nanny, which meant that Daniel was left at home to care for them. As he changed and fed babies that didn't belong to him, he berated himself for being such a fool. Mary Sue would often visit during the day. Even though she knew that they couldn't have a relationship, she did want to keep up a friendship with Daniel - even if it was just for the kids. It wasn't long before the twins were growing older and Kaylynn spent a fortune to invite the entire Pleasantview community over for their birthday party. Kaylynn found Nina in the kitchen and spent quite a while asking her about the upcoming birth and her relationship with Don. Daniel watched from the living room and hoped that Kaylynn wasn't getting any ideas about more kids. The entire community celebrated the birthday. Daniel was happy to see many of his friends and his two eldest daughters. He was quite surprised that any of them turned out at all. He wondered if Mary Sue might of had something to do with the large turnout. Most people in Pleasantview, as far as he understood, didn't like the way he had "treated" Mary Sue.

Dina had found a large place on the outskirts of town for her and the kids to move into. It had plenty of room. There was even extra room, so she was considering inviting someone to move in with her. She just didn't know who yet. Dina found herself devoting all of her time to raising her children. Justin and Andrew were learning to walk, talk, and use the potty. Being a single mother had never been this hard because she had always had help. The boys weren't much help. They only made things more difficult by constantly getting into things. They were both michievious and when you got the two of them together, they became twin terrors. They had both learned how to escape from their cribs at night and Dina would often have to get out of bed to keep the two of them from waking their younger siblings. She was spending every quiet moment that she could catching up on sleep. As she changed another diaper, she thought about how much easier this would be with a husband. She didn't really know where she was ever going to find another one of those though - who would want to start off a marriage with four kids?

Remington had always wanted to own a business of his own and told Angela that he had found the perfect place. They hopped in a cab and headed over to the Roller Star. It had recently came available for sale and Remington was interested in checking it out. Angela grudgingly agreed. The pregnancy was making her more and more weak everyday. She met the young hairstylist who was working inside and agreed to let him give her a makeover. She was a little worried but hoped it would turn out okay. She decided to return to her natural hair color and was pleased to find that the young man had gotten her hair surprisingly close to its natural hair color. She wasn't happy when she looked out the window and saw Remington openly flirting with someone else. She had originally thought that he wanted kids but now she was beginning to wonder how long he would be sticking around.

Jennifer continued to bring up the topic of cheesecake and twins and John continued to tell her to drop it.
"I'm going to invite some of the girls over for a get together." Jennifer told John one night.
"Why? So that you can ask them if they ate cheesecake during their pregnancies?" John bit back.
"Partially. And so that I can make some friends around here." Jennifer argued.
"Whatever. I'm going to bed." John said, before turning and heading to their room.
A few days later, Jennifer invited the women of Pleasantview over for a party. Bella was the only one not to show up. As they sat around the table, many of them commented on the fact that no one had seen Bella Goth since she moved out of the Goth Mansion. Many were beginning to wonder if she had disappeared again. "You know how you were asking me if I had eaten cheesecake during my pregnancy and I told you yes?" Kaylynn asked Jennifer.
"Yeah."
"Well, I was thinking about it and that answer isn't entirely true. I did eat cheesecake during my first pregnancy - at Cassandra's baby shower. But I don't remember eating any during my second pregnancy - I don't think we could afford it to be truthful." Kaylynn commented.
"Oh. Well, that doesn't necessarily mean my hunch is completely off - at least I don't think it disproves it." Jennifer's faith in her prediction was beginning to waiver. Dina tried to reassure her by telling her that cheesecake was eaten during both of her pregnancies. And Cassandra pointed out that she ate cheesecake when she was pregnant with the twins but not when she was pregnent with Donna.
John came home from work to find a party going on in his yard. He couldn't believe that Jennifer had gone through with it even after their discussion. He thought they had agreed not to have this fiasco. Half of Pleasantview was going to think his wife was insane. Lilith and Angela were both invited to their aunt's party and the gang had quite a laugh when they showed up in identical hairstyles. It fortunately gave the girls a chance to talk and they began repairing their relationship. John headed into the house and began fixing some food. If Jennifer was so deadset on the thought that cheesecake was connected to twins, then he was going to have to prove that it wasn't. "John, why are you making a cheesecake?" Jennifer asked him.
"It seemed appropriate giving the party that you're throwing." Brad retaliated. "Don't you want to know if your hunch is true or not?"
"Well, yeah. But not this way. Nina is pregnant and I'm not going to have you serving that at my party!" Jennifer yelled.
"I wasn't planning on serving it." John commented, heading out of the kitchen with the cheesecake.
"John. Don't you dare..." Jennifer let her voice trail off as he kept walking.
John found Nina out back and gave her the cheesecake as a gift. She was only too delighted to receive it. She wasn't sure why John was giving her a gift but she wasn't about to be rude by not accepting it.

Lilith and her cousin were getting quite used to living in their condo. They had evening jobs and were able to spend the days soaking up rays and enjoying each others company. They discussed everything - including Lucy's upcoming wedding. Lilith confessed to her cousin that she was hoping to marry Dirk someday. The girls were making many new friends now that they were back in Pleasantview. They were finally being accepted into the adult community. Their new friends came in all shapes and sizes. Alexander called the house to inform the girls that they were throwing a Halloween party at the Goth Mansion. The girls set out to buy costumes and spent the entire day shopping and looking at costumes and wedding dresses. They returned home and changed into their costumes.
"Lucy, you're not really going as a gorilla, are you?" Lilith questioned when she found Lucy in the bathroom.
"I was going to. Do you not think that I should?" Lucy asked.
"Well, I don't know. I just don't think that it will be the easiest costume to move around in." Lilith replied.
"Oh. That's true. I'm going to call Alexander and tell him I changed my mind." Lucy replied, heading downstairs. "I don't want him showing up as a gorilla if I don't."
Alexander had decided to keep the party small - just the six of them that had gone through college together. Angela and Dustin felt out of place at first but eventually they relaxed and let themselves enjoy the party. In the middle of the party, Dirk bent down on one knee and pulled a black box from behind his back.
"Lilith, I know that we discussed waiting, but I don't know that I can wait any longer. I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Dirk proclaimed.
Lilith was taken by surprise. She knew that she wanted to marry Dirk eventually but she hadn't thought about doing so in the near future. Despite all of this, she accepted his proposal. She was happy to know that Dirk loved her as much as she loved him. "So, where's Remington?" Dustin asked Angela.
"Probably out flirting with some girl." Angela replied.
"Problems in paradise?"
"I guess so." Angela replied, looking down. "Dustin, can I talk to you about something?"
"Yeah, anything."
"Well, there's more to why I broke up with you."
"There is?"
"Yeah. I'm pregnant."
"I see."
"Are you happy with him?" Dustin asked, as he digested this piece of information.
"I guess so. I kind of have to be."
"You still have options. Not all children grow up with both their biological parents." He said, looking her in the eye.
"I know. I'm just so confused right now." Angela said, as a tear came to her eye. Dustin pulled her close and hugged her tight.
The group ended the party with a bang. Alexander had bought some fireworks on the way home from work and they gathered around to watch the show. It was late in the night when the party ended.

Angela's friends and family all received a call the next morning from Remington. Angela was in the hospital.
"Is she going to be alright?" A worried Daniel asked the doctor.
"At this point, it's difficult to say." He replied.
"What exactly happened?" Daniel asked.
"Well, your daughter's body doesn't appear to have been ready to handle a pregnancy." The doctor replied.
"Oh." was all Daniel could say. Angela hadn't broken the news to her parents yet.
"All we can do at this point is wait." The doctor said.
Dustin waited by Angela's side for hours until Dirk and Alexander finally convinced him to go home and get some rest. The Pleasants promised to call Dustin if there was any change in her condition. As Dustin walked away from Angela's bedside, he finally realized where he belonged - with her. He only hoped that it wasn't too late to make that happen.
