Hi. I'm Lumbar. This is me being naughty. I'm not supposed to be up on people beds. I have rules and I'm supposed to abide by them. No my owner isn't General Grunt. And my owner is only doing what the trainers have learned is best for a good service dog. I'm on duty 24/7. My person may need me at any moment.

Hi. I'm needed for picking things up. Matt can't bend over and get things off of the ground like other people can, so I do it for him. But that isn't the only thing I do. I do lots of things to help my person throughout the day. Matt likes to go swimming every day. He says he needs to work what muscles he has and that means going in the pool. I help him get in and out. The whole time he is in the pool I keep a close eye on him. We go grocerie shopping. His caretaker drops us off and Matt decideds what he wants her to fix for supper. He can't cook.......but he still likes to choose what vegetables and spices will be used. We go into every section of the store. I even go into where meat is at. It smells so good the smell makes my mouth water sometimes.......I'd like to sneak a little bite.........but I know better. I have to behave myself at all times; but ESPECIALLY when I have my "uniform". (Sorry that can't be showed in these pics as I don't have anything like that for sim dogs) If I started wanting to go after the food like pet dogs.......us service dogs wouldn't be allowed in stores anymore. Then how would Matt get his groceries by himself? We may make the pets and sometimes petowners jealous......but it's cuz we are so well trained and behave ourselves. I sit when ever Matt tells me too. I do what ever Matt tells me too. I'm only supposed to take comands from Matt. I get confused and distracted when we go out sometimes. People say I'm a beautiful dog. I have a shiny coat and I've got on obvious good disposition so people love stopping and petting me. When I'm "in uniform" (the vest or harness a service dog wears) I'm there for a reason........and it isn't to socialize. I'm here to help my disabled master......THAT is my JOB. Matt has a lady who helps take care of him. She does those things that dogs can't do. She givesthe best belly rubs.......I love Jenny.
Jenny loves to htop, buy, and see what new fragrences they've got at the perfume counter. She is always willing to help Matt, but sometimes the things she likes to do and what he likes to do are not the same. Ever since I got Matt she has been able to brouse all the girly stuff Matt hates. I give freedom to Matt and Jenny both.
Sniff sniff sniff
Bark! Bark! Bark! Bark! Mmmmmm(whine).
Matt we have to go!
(Matt asks: "What's with you? Quiet! No barking in stores!")
Oh geez! I'm barking for a reason here! I smell a siezure comming! I sure do wish he could speak Labradore.
We have to go! Let's put the stuff back and go! Bark! Bark!
Jenny! Jenny!
You have to make the van take us home. Command it to find home.......it listens to you. Faster! We don't have much time. He's going to have a seizure.........I can smell it.
(It is not 100% known how dogs can sense that a seizure is comming, science only knows that the statistics and data proove that dogs can posses the ability to sense them even before the person with seizures can. I used "smell them" just for this story as it is one theory on how dogs know.)
Hurry we have to load him up. Make the van "speak". You know make it do that honk thing and have the van's tongue (ramp) come out so Matt can roll in to it. I thought we'd never get here in time. Jenny you should give this thing some better kibble. I can run faster when I've had good quality kibble. Bark! Hurry Matt!
Bark! It's comming. Mmmm mmmmm mmmmm(whine)!
Oh no! I knew one was on the way. Can't do a lot to help him until he stops seizing. I have to help Matt off the floor! But if he is too weak from his seizure I'll have to go get Jenny to help me. I can only help him if he can partially lift himself. I don't have arms to grab him and I'm low to the floor so I can't lift him like a human could. Bark! Bark! Bark!
Jenny! Jenny! Matt is too weak for me to help him up. Please help. He can barely lift his chest off the floor! Bark! Bark! Bark!
Com'on!
Bark! Bark!
Put the book down. Mmmm mmmm mmmm. Arww.
(With Matt's seizure over Jenny got him in bed)
I was whining for a while afterwards.......I felt like I'd let Matt down. I felt like a "bad dog", for allowing him to fall to the ground like that; and because I had to get help from the other human......from Jenny. But Jenny says I'm a "good dog" cuz without me telling them that seizure comming they might have known to come home in the 1st place. She says I'm a good dog because I brought help. I can help him usually but she said when he has had a real bad seizure he's "like a sack of potatoes" he is so tired and disoriented, so it's not my fault. I'm strong enough to help him but I'm also smart enough to know when I should just go and get some help.

#2 (Matt Wheeler) No ordinary dog.

Thanks to everyone who read and liked my story. If anybody is interested hiedibear75 has written some other stories, and one of them is all about my training and how I got Matt.

\:rah\: You did a great job on both of Lumbar's stories and I'm sure other people now have a better idea of how service dogs. I especially liked how you described how people shouldn't distract them in public because they're working. Excellent story and screenshots!\:D

\:rah\: Fantastic story!!! It's really nice when people create stories of some important input, not only "I go to work" or "Oh, I'm pregnant again". Great job! I like this doggie too, he's awsome!

WTG Hiedibear! I enjoyed your story sooo much! However, you forgot to include something important! NEVER PET A SERVICE DOG THAT IS WORKING!! I am sure you meant to put that in there when you were talking about him getting confused. You even had me on pins and needles, oh no, is Matt gonna make it home in time? You did a great job! (Oh and Happy Day after your birthday!) \:wub\:
