Welcome to the third part of the Applewind Legacy. This addition focuses on Aurelie's life in college. Hopefully I can make it more exciting than college really is.
Thanks to all the CC makers and the people that leave wonderful comments. By the way, I really appreciate constructive critism if you see something I can do better.

Well, I made it to college. Like my new look? It was my first experience with makeup, but I think it turned out well. Yes, I'm in my gym clothes. You do NOT want to see what I grew up in. Needless to say, I quickly called a taxi to take me to the shops. I should explore anyway. I tried on several outfits, but finally picked this one and one other. I needed something comfortable, yet would fit in in college life. How do I look? I'm okay with it, just still don't like the nose. I must find a guy with a good nose so my kids don't get this! I spent my first breakfest alone. I was one of the first to arrive at the dorm, so not many others were around. And I'd rather not make random conversation with the cafeteria lady. Awkward! I buckled down to my studies with nothing else to do. If I'm going to be here, I might as well get good grades. I had some time for fun though. At home we didn't have many games. Heck, we didn't have a computer. I missed out on so much fun in my childhood! I'll have to get Simon one for Christmas.
But this pictures almost more to describe the characters you find at college. First there's the prep on the left wearing the suit. Seriously, it's not private school. We live here. It's home! Also there's the girl with the spiky hair behind him. Actually, her hair's quite cool. Not my look though!
I also sat down to start my term paper. I never had a flair for writing, probably never will. Writer's block was such a pest, one I could definetly get by without. Too bad I don't know many people, or I could beg them to do it for me. Oh well, I'm better off doing it myself. By that evening, I had almost half of it written. I must say, I'm quite proud of myself! Here's another character I found. I really don't know what I said, but whatever it was must have freaked him out a little. What's really freaky is how blue hair actually looks good on him! Later on, the phone rang as I was passing. "Hello, Boggs dorm, who may I refer you to?" I picked up the phone and said my practiced spiel. "Hi, um, can I talk to Aurelie?" The small voice said nervously. "Simon?" I asked. "Aurelie? It's you!" He said excitedly. "Yep, it's me. How are you doing buddy? I've been wondering what's going on." Simon laughed. "Well actually, I'm fine. Mom just wanted me to call to make it look like she wasn't checking up on her daughter." I burst out laughing as I heard Mom yell "Simon! I heard that!" Followed by the sound of running feet and giggling. I guess Mom had to tickle the phone away. "Hi honey!" Mom's breathless voice came over the phone. "Hi Mom," I said wandering around the front hall. "How's everything there?" Mom talked for a while about Simon and Harmony's grades, and about her recent paintings. "My painting!" I suddenly exclaimed. "What?" Mom said. "Sorry for yelling, but I forgot my painting at home! You know, the one with Dad and me? I meant to bring it. Darn." Mom chuckled. "Oh don't worry honey, when you come home on break I'll give it to you." "Thanks Mom." I said gratefully. We chatted for a while longer, then I talked to Dad and Harmony. "How's my kid sister!" I asked when Harmony came on. "Fine," she said. "Really?" I asked seriously. "Yes, I'm handling great," She said sincerely. "Mom and Dad are great and Simon's helped a lot with the cleaning and stuff." I told her I was proud of her, and after a few more minutes we said goodbye. Later, when I went back to my room, I found Spencer's assignment on my desk. Frustrated, I walked out to the common room and planted it in plain view on one of the desks. Call it a statement. Needless to say, I Iocked my door after that. I didn't get to bed until about 12, and I was exhausted. I woke early though. I was one of the few unlucky to have an early class. Like my nightgown? A lot more skimpy than I'm used to. Hey, what can I say? Once a neat freak, always a neat freak. I headed out to my first class. I was a little nervous, but I'd be okay. I just hoped my teachers didn't expect more of me just because my father was a doctor. A specialist to be precise. I don't have the first clue about anything in medicine. That's why I'm here. This guy is so funny. He comes around every once and a while and dances for no one in particular. He has pluck I must say. Sometimes I watch and laugh just to make him feel better. Later, I finished my term paper. Took me a few hours, but now it's done and is one less thing to worry about. Unfortunately, love is not an option in this dorm. There are no good guys! I guess I'll have to wait until after college. Finally, Thanksgiving Break had arrived and I got to go home for a day. As soon as I came into view, Harmony came sprinting out of the house and greeted me with a hug. To be honest, the sight of her choked me up a bit. As much as I enjoy college, I miss home. The "characters" in my dorm just don't fit the bill of family. Simon also came out to hug me. "Aurelie! Look what I can do! Bella from my class taught me! I spent," He counted on his fingers for a moment. "Three recesses on it!" I smiled. "Show me!" I said enthusiastically. He ran a few steps from me. With great flair, he performed two cartwheels in succession while I cheered him on. We also danced for a while. Mom was making dinner and needed Simon out from under her feet. I was happy to oblige. Later as I walked in for dinner, Mom caught me in the hall. "This is for you." She said with a smile. I looked at it knowing exactly what it was. "Thanks, Mom," I said, hugging her. "This means the world to me." I then joined the family for dinner. Mom said she was tired and went for a quick nap. I loved sitting at the same table as most of my family. I've gotten too used to spending my meals alone, I forgot how good it was to have company. Simon showed me a painting Mom had done of him. He was ecstatic and I was once more reminded of my mother's talent. All too soon, it was time for me to go home. Mom roused herself so see me off. In spite of myself, I found myself wishing I could leave college and come back home. But then reality hit and I knew it was for the better. The months flew by. I settled into routine and my homesickness became less strong. Soon it was time for my midterm exam. With extra time on my hands before it, I hit the shops. While waiting for the taxi, I had a little fun playing in a puddle. Being a neat freak all my life, I missed out on the joys of being a little messy. It really can be quite fun! I've taken up Mom's hobby of painting as well. With a little practice, my work became more and more beautiful. The night before my exam, I went to bed around 7. I had to by up by three to be ready for my exam and the last thing I wanted was to be overtired. I headed out early in the morning. I dressed in my gym outfit as I planned to jog over to the admin building. But I returned later with great news. I'd made the deans list! My grant reached 1,200 and I was thrilled. To work off some of the extra excitement, I worked out. I needed some more body skills anyway to keep up my potential in class. Something I really hate about college, is how little disregard people have for their hygiene. They will go days without a shower and not think anything of it. How are the rest of us supposed to concentrate with the smell? If I'm going to be here for a few years, I might as well be social. There's no fun in being a loner. I've been making a concentrated effort in making some friends. I still really enjoy watching the clouds. They're so fascinating. Months later, it was finally May. With only a few hours to go before my final exam, I painted. I needed to pass the time and what better way than to be relaxed. Then I was time. I was so excited! After this, I would be done my freshman year and no longer be the lowest in the college! I returned with a 4.0 grade and spot on the dean's list. I walked in to the dorm planning all the ways I would celebrate. But as I was walking into the front room, the phone rang. I answered with my traditional speech. "Boggs Dorm, how my I help you?" There was a short pause on the other end. "Yes, may I speak to Aurelie Applewind?" "Speaking," I said. "Hello Aurelie, this is Professor Jane Bendett. I just heard the news that you achieved a spot on the Dean's List for this year." I nodded, slightly confused. Then, remembering I was speaking on the phone, I said quickly, "Yes, Professor." "Well, I have a proposition for you. We recently built a new dorm on campus for the use of a new program. The grades of freshmen have been dropping for years, thinking they didn't need to buckle down in their first year. We needed to find an incentive to get them to study." I frowned. "Yes, but what does this have to do with me? I got good grades all year." Prof Bendett laughed. "Of course. Out new program is our incentive. Each year we will pick several freshmen that achieved a spot on the dean's list and move them into our new dorm. It is state of the art and very beautiful and pleasing to the eye, which is different than most dorms on campus. I was wondering if you were interested in being on of the first to come." I gasped. "Of course! I would be thrilled!" The professor laughed again and said, "Then it's settled. You can come out tomorrow morning." With that she hung up. "Yes!" I yelled as soon as I put the phone down. Several heads turned, but I was already running up the stair to pack. I woke up the next morning excited beyond belief. I couldn't wait to get to the new dorm.
