Welcome back to the Applewind Legacy! We now return to the "regular scheduled program", aka the Applewind Manor! Connor and Aurelie FINALLY finished college and returned home. If you haven't read any of what I've written so far, I'd suggest the first two parts of the Applewind Legacy and/or Aurelie's college years (all four parts! :P)
Thanks to the CC makers and those who take the time to leave encouraging comments on the story pages. Now, let's get on with it!

"Mom!" As soon as the taxi stopped in front of my house, I jumped out and wrapped my mom in a hug. She hugged me back and whispered in my ear "Welcome back sweetie."
She took a step back and gave me a once over. "You look, different."
I winced. "Believe me, at the first opportunity, I'm changing my hair. It's way to blah for me!"
Over her shoulder, I caught a glance of the house. "Mom... What happened to the house?"
Mom laughed. "Well, in the last year, we completely redid it. We had the money, and since we had an inkling you were coming back, we thought we could make it a family house. One we hope to keep in the family for years to come."
I nodded. I couldn't wait to see the inside.
Mom also went over and gave Connor a hug.
"Welcome home." She said.
"Now, pardon my bluntness, but it seems as if you two could both use a makeover." Mom said slowly.
"YES!" Connor and I cried. Neither of us had been one bit happy with the looks we grew up in.
Mom made Connor over first. She gave him a longer, shaggier cut, but still left him with the dignity he has always had.
"Thanks, Mrs. Applewind!" Connor said, running a hand through his hair. Mom smiled.
"You can call me Mom. Or Rose. Whatever you prefer."
Connor's eyes glistened. "If you don't mind, I'll call you Mom. I haven't called anyone that since I was thirteen."
Mom sat me down next. After she was done, I was totally transformed. I loved the new look.
"By the way, where is everyone else?" I asked.
"Well, Harmony and Simon are sleeping. Your dad had to go on a business trip. He's decided to retire, but he had to go to New York to do some final arrangements."
We walked back into the living room. Mom and Dad's room was still on the first floor. I took a good look around and gasped.
"It's so different!" I yelped.
"But beautiful." Connor said taking an appreciative look around.
Just then, Harmony came pounding down the stairs.
"Welcome home, Sis!" She yelled. "I heard you come in, but I just couldn't wait to say hi."
I smiled and hugged her back. "It's nice to be back."
Harmony was just bursting with excitement. "Hey, let me show you your room!"
Connor and I obediently followed her up the stairs.
"Wow. This is ours?" Connor said, letting out a low whistle. "I can't believe your parents went to all this trouble."
Harmony blushed ever so slightly. "Oh, and just so you aren't surprised, Mom and Dad also put together a nursery." I met Connor's eyes and laughed.
"That's just like them. Planning ahead."
Harmony left, deciding that she needed to get back to bed.
While Connor took a shower, I explored a little more. The kitchen was decorated in fresh green's and white's. It was all very lovely. I met Connor back upstairs. He pulled me onto the bed beside him.
"I'm so glad to be here. How 'bout you?" He asked me.
I sighed. "I guess there really is no place like home."
Connor bent his head down and kissed me. I could feel the passion radiating from his lips.
I shook my head ever so slightly. "No, not yet." I said against his lips. "Not until we're married."
Connor looked a bit dissapointed, but he understood. We'd made a promise, and we weren't going to break it.
The next morning we sat down to breakfast. It was a Saturday, so Harmony and Simon didn't have school. The rest of us were already seated when Simon came sprinting in and flew into a chair.
"Well, hi there little buddy!" I chuckled.
"Aurelie! When did you get here? Wow! And that's Connor right? Are you really going to get married? Can I come? I'm so excited!"
The whole table erupted into laughter.
"Okay, I'll answer those in order. We got here last night. Yes, that's Connor, and we really are going to get married. Yes you can come. And I'm excited too." I answered, mirroring the joy in his voice.
Later, everyone was relaxing in the living room. Connor came in.
"Anyone up for a shopping trip? I think both Aurelie and I could use some new clothes."
Everyone nodded. Harmony cheered.
"I'm game! Although, I don't think I'd ever turn down a shopping trip."
We all filed out, talking excitedly. We hadn't been anywhere as a complete family in a long time. This was going to be fun! When we got outside, I mangaged to get a better look at the exterior of the house. I must admit, it's beautiful. I was glad it was my home. We all hung out at the clothes store, taking turns trying things on and buying outfits. Both Connor and I purchased some winter and fall clothes. After Connor took Simon outside to play catch, I enlisted Harmony's help in trying on wedding dresses. When we got to this one, Harmony whistled.
"I don't know about you, but I say that one's got potential."
I studied myself for a few moments, turning circles and looking at it from all sides.
"I think I have to agree with you there." I said finally. I changed, and then bought he gown.
Later after we got home, I put away the dress in a my closet. I put it in the very back and hoped Connor wouldn't see it until the day of the wedding. We talked it over and decided we'd wait for spring. Simon's birthday wasn't that far off, and we didn't want to interfere with that. Anyway, both Connor and I love the spring. It would be the perfect season to celebrate a new beginning. I began a job search. I really wanted to get started on my career. But when I looked, no jobs were open in the medical track. For now, I decided I would work on a novel and put my creativity to good use. But as I worked one day, a woman came charging into our house. Harmony was in the living room with me, and the lady strode up to her. She began screaming about how teenagers these days had no respect for privacy, and how the generation was going down the drain. Harmony looked frightened. I wasn't going to interfere until I saw evidence that the woman was close to becoming physical. I stood up from my chair.
"What is the problem here?" I said in my most authoritive voice.
The lady looked up and seemed embarrassed to be caught by an adult.
"What's going on here?" I asked again, but the woman was already leaving. "Good riddance," I muttered under my breath.
Later, I asked Harmony what happened. She explained that she'd been looking though her telescope. She had let it drift over some houses while she fiddled with some gears. When she looked back through, it was pointed at a window of a nearby house. She'd moved it immediatly, but the woman had obviously thought Harmony was spying on purpose. I just laughed asked Harmony to be careful. She was already embarrassed enough without me lecturing her.
Soon it was time for Simon to become a teenager. We bought a cake and he went up to blow out his candles while we cheered. And he grew up into this striking young man. I have to say I approve. And I think several other girls in his school will as well!
I asked him later what he chose to aspire to. He chose popularity and confided that some day he hopes to become a general in the military. I'm proud of him.
Recently, both Harmony and Simon have gone on this fitness craze. They're always working out and trying to get more fit. I have to say, kudos to them. One night when I came down for a drink of water, I got a nasty surprise. A woman dressed all in dark colours was in our living room! Even after noticing me, she ran right passed. I was too shocked to speak. So was Harmony when the woman ran past her bedroom door. She had woken to the sound of the burglar alarm. The police arrived promptly and began to subdue the burglar. Simon and Harmony looked on. To be honest, I was too scared and was hiding downstairs!
But for the first time, the cop came out victorious. She led the prisioner away.
Finally, my wedding day had arrived. I was so nervous.
I brushed a stray strand of hair back into my bun. I noticed that my whole hand was shaking. I grabbed it with my other one to make it stop, but to no avail. I sighed.
Harmony came in and gave me a big hug. "You look beautiful sis. Connor is going to drop dead."
I laughed. "I sure hope not!"
Harmony leaned back and grinned. "But seriously, he's going to love you. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. He won't be able to take his eyes off you."
She was right. As Connor and I stood under the wedding arch in our backyard, I looked out over my family. When I looked back at Connor, I realized he was still looking at me. I grinned and flushed slightly. I couldn't believe this day was actually here. I started with my vows. We had decided to write our own and not worry about intense flowery words.
"Connor, the past three and a half years have been the best of my life. You know why? Because that's how long I've known you. I can't even imagine what my life would be like without you. Dark and dreary, no doubt. All those times you encouraged me to follow my dreams and to not give up are what carried me through. Now we're here, about to give our lives to each other. And I couldn't be more glad."
I slid the ring onto his finger. "I will never leave you. You always said you wanted a family, and it has started here, today." He spoke his vows next. Honestly, I can't remember much of it, I was too busy staring into his eyes. I'll have to ask him to write them down for me.
"Aurelie, thanks for being my friend, my lover, and my family." He slid the ring over my glove onto my hand.
Our hands came together in the middle. I think it was a true sign of the bond we share, one that will never be broken. Our lips met as well. Our kisses were lovely before, but sharing them as a married couple were entirely different. Knowing that they would never stop, now that's a special feeling. We came apart to the sound of cheers from my family. Let the festivities begin! We shared quite a few toasts that afternoon. Even Harmony and Simon had a few sips of the champagne. We made sure that they didn't have too many.
"Here's to family, friendship and commitment." I said, raising my glass to the others'.
Connor cut the cake. Mom had made it and it was beautifully decorated. I knew she had a flair for cooking, but this was just amazing. Connor was kind and didn't shove the cake in my mouth. He slid it in like the nice gentleman he is. The cake was delicious. I smiled and nodded. I must have looked pretty funny, because Connor laughed. We partied long into the night. Sharing many kisses. I couldn't believe that we were actually married! Something I'd waited for so long had finally come about. My dream come true. I also saw Mom and Dad steal a few kisses. I think seeing us get married had brought back a lot of memories for them. Later, Connor and I changed out of our fancy clothes and flopped on the bed.
"Those were wonderful words you said today, Aurelie." Connor said, kissing the top of my head.
"I meant them. Especially the part about family. It starts today."
Connor grinned mischieviously. "You know, I want more than just you. No offense."
"None taken. Do you want to start that today too?" I said, returning the grin.
"Why not?"
Connor and I slipped under the covers, and proceeded in the family creating.
Thanks for reading this part! It was fun to write. Hopefully the vow wasn't too corny or off. I've only been to one wedding and that was when I was ten!
Sorry for the wait too. I had to wait for the weather to get nice enough for Connor and Aurelie to hold the wedding outside. I was really busy with other stuff this week too.

Until next time!
