Hey folks! It's Janelle. Yes, I'm back. Quite soon actually. I couldn't wait to get this story up and running. I hope it's a lot better than my last one. And I hope I can keep it going!
Let's not dilly-dally. Thanks to the CC makers, and the people who encourage me and keep me writing.
"Mommy, Daddy, can I open my eyes yet?" I fight back my growing curiousity, as I clench my eyelids closed. They told me to not even sneak one little peek, and I know I should obey.
When they brought me here, wherever here is, they promised that my surprise would be better than the satisfaction of peeking. I have to trust them. But that doesn't help the fact I am excited.
"Okay, Fawn, you can open your eyes now." Mom's joyous voice breaks through my thoughts as she tapped me lightly on the shoulder. I savour the last feeling of anticipation before springing my eyes open wide. As soon as I do, my mouth drops and my hands fly up. "Oh my gosh!"
I gasp for a breath, before unleashing my excitement on my parents. "Is this ours?! All of it?!"
"Yes, sweetie. It's all ours. Every square inch." Says Dad, chuckling at my intense reaction. Usually, I might have felt hurt, or disappointed that he was laughing at me, but I am too stunned.
In front of me is the biggest building I've ever seen. Okay, maybe not the biggest, but it's definetely the biggest house I've ever seen. Okay, maybe not. But it's the biggest one we've ever lived in, that's for sure! The pathway leading up to it, the large front porch, the bricks, the pond, all of it was perfect. I can't believe what I am seeing. "Daddy?! Is it really ours? Can I go look?! I'm so excited!" I bounce up and down in front of my father, not caring enough to curb my energy. It takes all my will not to go sprinting around the whole house. On second thought, that's not a bad idea! "Yes, it really is ours, yes, you can go look, and I'm glad." I recongnize my own excitment mirrored in Daddy's eyes and voice. He is just as happy about this as I am. "C'mon! Fawn, let's go look around!" Mom's words trail behind her as she goes running up the steps to the porch. I admire how her heels clicked on the cement. Click, clack, click, clack. I'm a sucker for sounds. But I soon break out of my reverie, and go skipping after her, my heart bubbling with happiness. I stand in the entranceway, and I have to fight the urge to scream. It is beautiful! Just beautiful. There really is no other way to describe it. The walls are a creamy tan colour, and the couches are something straight out of a book, or a catalog. Music is playing on a stereo next to the couch, reminding me that this isn't a dream. I can just see the kitchen peeking out from behind a half wall. I don't know which way to turn first. I decide on to the right. It takes me to what must be the entertainment room. Complete with a computer and a tv, it looked very modern. I wanted to flop on the couches, they looked so cushy. But I can't stand still for more than a second, let alone flop for a few. Mom comes in and gives me a thumbs-up. "Well, Fawn, what do you think?"
"What do I think, I think it's awesome! Are you sure this isn't a dream? It's all too good to be true!" I laugh.
"I'm sure. And to make it all the more dream-like, why don't we go check out your room?" She asked, a smile spreading across her face. I keep thinking that it just can't go any farther, but I'm wrong. It goes on getting wider and wider.
"Sure, Mom, lets go!" We turn and make a run for the stairs.
When we go into the room that Mom says is mine, my knees almost buckle. It's amazing! The walls are pink, and the carpet is white. That's the whole scheme to the room, and it's more than I could have hoped for. My hand flies to my heart, and I look at my mother.
"Mom, it's really mine?" I say, my breath sounding almost wheezy from the rush of excitement. My mom nods.
I try to catch my breath, all the while, my eyes darting around the room, studying each corner and nook. I think my favourite part is the windows which cover almost the whole front wall. It gives me quite the view, and I can't wait to be lying in bed, watching the stars out my window.
After I take a good look around, I'm off again, looking through the whole house. To be honest, I never could have imagined our family owning such a gorgeous house.
But now that I'm done racing around, I really should introduce myself. I can just see the confusion on your face. Yeah, you're probably thinking, that was way too fast to dump people into a story, with no beginning, just a headfirst dive. And yes, you are right. That was fast. I just hope you haven't stopped reading yet, because things only get more interesting from here. Fasten your seatbelts! Anyway, my name is Fawn. Fawn Wellington. I'm ten years old. As you have already seen, I have a habit of digressing. A bad habit, really.
The other thing that is probably running through your head is how a ten year old can be thinking all this, in such a way as someone in their mid-teens should. I don't even know why, really, I just am who I am. The only explanation I can offer is that my "teachers" say I'm gifted. I think it means my thoughts are larger and more advanced than those my age. You'd think that someone who is gifted, would be able to explain what exactly it is. Sadly, no.
I say "teachers" because, well, I've never really had one. I've been homeschooled my whole life. My mom has taught me everything I need to know. And apperantly, that's a lot. The way I was labelled as "gifted" was by this random evaluater person I went to see. The "tested my IQ" and "watched my behaviour" to determine whether I was gifted or not. Seems to me like a pretty intense process, to just figure out a way a person thinks. In my opinion, the way a person thinks is between them, their thoughts, and God. No one else's business. Wow, I can really go on for a long time. Hope you're not bored! I should probably introduce you to the rest of my family. I'm an only child, so it's just my parents to be introduced to. Hang on, let me grab some pictures. We just took them a few minutes ago, to remember the first day in the new house! This is my mother Hanna. My idol. Usually. She's extremely nice, playful, and outgoing, but very lazy! Despite her laziness, she still manages to get quite a bit done, just on her own time schedule. Yeah, this is a very cutsey picture. Just wait. Oh, yep, there it is. The not so nice face. Unfortunetely, Dad took this picture when I was playing the piano. I have been taking lessons for under six months, so I'm not that good, but I didn't think I was horrible! And here's Dad. yeah, he's showing off, but hey, he's got the right to. Dad is the opposite of Mom, in many ways, but mostly because he is so athletic. He loves sports, and is very fit. I say, good for him! Soon after we finish looking around, the Legacy Falls welcoming commitee arrives. Dad is greeting people, but there is one woman who stands off to the side, not quite sure of herself. So I put on my best manners and go up and shake her hand.
"Hi, I'm Fawn." I smile, trying to be warm.
"Hey there. I'm Harmony. Glad to meet you!"

A/N: Anyone recognize this girl? No? For those who followed my Applewind Series, this would be Harmony Applewind, now Harmony Porter! This is her as an adult.
"You know, it's kind of funny, considering I'm the one who is supposed to be introducing myself first, but no, it's the child who starts!" She says.
I'm not quite sure how to take this, but I decide to hear her words at face value. "Yeah, I'm a little like that. Most people are surprised when they meet me. I guess they expect me to be shy and stand off in a corner, but I'm just not like that."
The woman smiles. "You remind me a lot of my son, Felix. He's a lot like you." This was relieving to hear. Maybe I could make a friend in this Felix guy.
While my parents chat up the rest of the welcoming commitee, Harmony and I play Rock, Paper, Scissors. I think the fact that she has a kid my age makes her more open to my way of being. It is great to see an adult who doesn't expect anything of me, and I can just be me. The welcoming commitee soon leaves. I go inside, and practice more piano. As bad as I currently am, the instrument intruigues me. I love to play. It is such an easy way to express myself, and I love the feel of my fingers on the keys. Once again, I'm drawn by the sound. Knowing what reaches my ears is something formed by my fingers is a great feeling. That's all for now peeps! To be honest, I'm really tired, and I talked to Mom and Dad, and they say I'm starting a public school tomorrow! Uh oh. Definetely a new adventure. I hope to see you all back here tomorrow. I also hope I didn't bore you to death or freak you out. Check ya later! Well, that's the intro! I have to say, it's better than my previous stories. Isn't she cute? Gotta love her.
See ya next time.
