**Hello readers! Welcome to part 7 of Love and Heartbreak! If you have not read this story from the beginning i strongly suggest that you do so as to better understand and follow this chapter. Before we begin i want to especially thank all the c.c. creators for there beautiful creations used throughout this series. Now on with our story..
Two long weeks have passed by.. Vanessa spent most of her time at work, it was her way of coping with everything that was going on in her personal life.. at work she was too busy to be sad or angry.
Work was very rough however. After Cameron and Seth's wedding, Cameron had spread the word far and wide that Vanessa's business was unprofessional and as a result Vanessa had lost quite a few of her clients. Nonetheless she was committed to gaining back her positive reputation, she built her business from the ground up and wasn't about to let it fall apart before her eyes.

Nonetheless she was committed to gaining back her positive reputation, she built her business from the ground up and wasn't about to let it fall apart before her eyes. Things back at home weren't any better either., Jazz was still mourning the loss of her stillborn baby, which was to be expected of course after such a tragedy. She was very isolated from everyone including her sister, most of the time she wanted nothing but to be left alone. Sometimes she couldn't even be bothered to eat even after all of Vanessa encouragement. Caleb came by every night for dinner to keep Vanessa company and to help her in whatever she needed. Vanessa appreciated his concern and his generosity. She knew he must have been very busy as his career had skyrocketed lately but some nights he would spend hours at a time with Vanessa never once mentioning his hectic schedule. She was so grateful to have Caleb in her life. He was her rock through it all.
Caleb -- "So my agent thinks i should stay in the area for a while, my artwork has been getting such great reviews in the local press, it's doing wonders for my career. I'm buying a place nearby, a 30min drive away from here in the heart of downtown.. I'll be close whenever you need me." Vanessa -- "Cal that's great. I'm so happy to hear you'll be staying close.. I honestly don't know what i would do without you."
Caleb hesitated. He wanted to tell Vanessa that his love for her was enough to keep him around as long as she desired, but he couldn't bring himself to say it. Instead he smiled warmly at Vanessa and she did the same. As the two were cleaning up after dinner Vanessa suddenly felt very lightheaded and felt as the room were spinning. Caleb reached out for her and steadied her balance with his strong grasp.
Caleb -- "Vanessa are you alright? You almost fell over.. and your face is pale.."
Vanessa -- "Yea im fine, thanks. It's just that i been working so hard is all. I'm really tired I should head up to bed."
Caleb offered to stay behind to clean up alone but Vanessa refused, "Its late.. you should head to your hotel, don't worry about the dishes i'll clean this up tomorrow." Caleb was reluctant but agreed to call it a night only after Vanessa promised to take better care of herself and not work as hard. The next morning, at Seth and Cameron's new home.. Seth -- "I'm going out for my morning jog, I'm taking Max with me."
Cameron -- "Ok honey, but hurry back breakfast will be ready in a few." She was about to sit down and eat her breakfast when the phone rang. On the other end was a voice Cameron hoped she would never have to hear again, it was the voice of Kevin Richards. Kevin -- "Buon Giorno Cameron. That means good morning in Italian, in case you didn't know."
Cameron -- "Kevin? What are you doing calling me!? And how did you get my number? Your suppose to be in Italy keeping a low cover and forgetting you ever knew my name!"
Kevin -- "Well Cammy, that type of lifelong silence has a price, one that requires much more money than the small fortune you and your daddy paid for. So to make this clear.. I want 50,000 simoleons by this time Friday morning or Seth will be hearing all about our little secret." Cameron -- "What! We gave you more than enough money! If you spent it all already that's your problem! Don't call me making threats! Your neck is on the line too! I know you wouldn't dare reveal the truth to Seth!" Kevin -- "I'm afraid your mistaken Cammy, things have changed.. The truth will only hurt you now.. And if you doubt that, be ready to deal with the consequences. Ciao Bella." He hung up. Furious, Cameron hung up the receiver and deleted the number from the phone's incoming call display, then she phoned her Father. Cameron -- "Daddy, He called, Kevin called he's blackmailing me for more money or he'll tell Seth the truth!"
Walter -- "What! That lowlife! Calling to harass you in your condition! Not to worry dear.. I'll have my people pay him the amount he wants. I'll take care of him." Cameron -- "Just like you been taking care of my plan for revenge Daddy? You promised i would get even with Vanessa Russo! It's been weeks already and I'm tired of waiting." Walter -- "Now, now sweetpea, be patient. Everything is almost settled, just a few more days and you'll be able to get even. When I promised you something i deliver! No one messes with my little girl and gets away with it! Don't get so worked up honey.. you'll get your way. And as for Kevin, leave him up to me, I'll handle this." As another week passed by, Caleb's love for Vanessa began to consume him more and more. He had been silent for way to long now and was eager to tell her and anyone else involved that he loved her and was willing to do all that it takes to make her happy. Caleb wasn't the only one secretly loving Vanessa. Seth still remained deeply and unconditionally in love with her as well. Married life to Cameron felt like torture. She was so different to Vanessa, her complete opposite. Often Seth would spend hours in the baby's soon to be nursery just to be alone and think of Vanessa. He would do anything to hold her and kiss her again but he knew it was just pointless wishful thinking. He had lost her forever. He could only hope she was happy somewhere. Later that night at Vanessa and Caleb's usual dinner date. Caleb was determined to tell Vanessa how he felt about her. Vanessa reached for the salt and was shocked when Caleb placed his hand affectionately ontop of hers, the room became awkwardly quiet. Then he broke the silence..
Caleb -- "Vanessa there is something I've been meaning to tell you.. and frankly, i just can't hold it in any longer. So here goes.. I love you Vanessa,.. i mean really, truly love you. It pains me to see you this down and out. My gut feelings tell me its more than just grief over the loss of your sister's baby. You seem, heartbroken.. I don't know who broke your heart but i can promise you if you give me just one chance i will never hurt you." Vanessa knew this conversation was coming sooner or later. She had always been aware of Caleb's feelings for her but she somehow hoped one day Caleb would give up and settle for her friendship only, which didn't seem like it was going to happen. The last thing she wanted was to hurt Caleb but she knew she would never love him the way she loved Seth. "I'd be lying to you if i told you i wasn't heartbroken over another man, because i am... but I don't want to lead you on Caleb, you are my best friend..but im sorry i can't return your same feelings for me. My heart is too damaged to ever love again." Behind her Jazz entered the room quietly, Vanessa never realized she was standing behind her and continued, "but that's not the only reason we can't be together.. Cal, I'm pregnant."
The news hit Jazz like stab in the back. She turned walked out the room without a word. Caleb felt a wave of shock by the news."Your pregnant..? Are you sure? Who is the father?" All of his questions came out at once.
Vanessa nodded.. "yes, im positive. The doctor confirmed it this morning. As for the father.. He's a part of my past im trying very hard to forget. All i can tell you is that he deceived me, he is now married and his wife is also carrying his child. He doesn't know i'm expecting and i plan on keeping it that way." Caleb -- "I see.. Do you think thats the right thing to do though Vanessa? He is the father, he has a right to know. And please forgive me if i seem a little shocked at the news.. I had no idea."
Vanessa -- "don't worry Cal, i understand your shock. But yes i do believe this is the best way. I love my child Cal, I'm going to keep my baby even if i have to do it alone."
Caleb -- "Vanessa you don't have to do it alone. I love you, this doesn't change anything. I would be the happiest man on earth to be lucky enough to have you and raise a child together. How can you say you won't love me if you haven't given me a chance? Let me prove to you that im different.. i wont hurt you, i promise."
Vanessa thought about his words all night long. Early the next morning..
Vanessa -- "Jazz whats with all the boxes?"
Jazz -- "I'm moving out. My ride should be here any minute now. I overheard last night when you told Caleb you were expecting. Deep down a part of me is very happy for you because i know you always wanted to be a mom, but the other part of me is in too much pain after losing Carter. Pretty soon you'll be in maternity tops and preparing for the new baby and it'll be to much for me to cope with. I don't want to ruin this special time for you. Which is why i decided i need to get away for a while." Vanessa was very sad to hear that her sister was leaving but she understood where Jazz was coming from, she was still grieving. "I understand sis.. but where will you go?"
Jazz -- "I'll stay in a hotel till i find an apartment or roomate. Don't worry about me though. Just take good care of yourself and my little niece or nephew. I'll see you in a few months." Vanessa gave her sister one last warm hug before going outside and driving to work. Cameron was waiting for Vanessa outside of the boutique as she pulled up. She approached her immediately as she got out of the car.
Cameron --"Ok homewrecker hand over the keys."
Vanessa -- "Cameron what are you talking about? What keys?" Cameron -- "The keys to MY boutique. With the help of your trusty little assistant Caroline i was able to get all the information and documents i needed to officially take you down! The deed is officially in my name, Cameron Turner, making me rightful owner. And you are now officially terminated. Consider us even."
Vanessa -- "What! Caroline? but why? I don't understand.."
Cameron -- "Don't act so innocent Vanessa.. you are far from that sneaking around my back to get to my husband!"
Vanessa -- "WHAT? No! Cameron i never knew.. i had no idea Seth was your fiancee at the time.. it was a mistake!" Cameron -- "A MISTAKE!? HAA! I know all about the affair you two had while i was away planning for my wedding! You jumped at the opportunity to be alone with him! You Thought you could sabotage my marriage in one weekend did you?! Well too bad for you i was already pregnant with his baby before you got to him! And now i get to have the last laugh! You had my man and now i have your career! Consider us even!"
Vanessa -- "Cameron its not like that. I never tried to sabotage anything..and i never intended for anything to happen between Seth and I, you got it all wrong." Cameron ignored Vanessa's explanations and began taunting her with her growing belly. "You know,..Seth is so excited about being a father. It's so hard for him to keep his hands off me, im pretty sure we'll have plenty more babies after this little one is born."
Vanessa couldn't bear to hear anymore, she had enough of Cameron's sick games. Cameron smiled she could see she was getting to Vanessa and could feel her beginning to crack.
"You want the keys, here, take them. And you can think whatever you want to think about me.. i give up!" Caroline heard the commotion from inside and stepped out to see what the fuss was about.
Vanessa -- "And as for you.." She turned to face Caroline, "I can't believe you would stoop so low..i thought we were friends, but now we're more than through."
Caroline was too ashamed to say anything and looked away as Vanessa got in her car and drove away. Not wanting to drive home to an empty house and feel alone, Vanessa went to the one person she knew she could depend on no matter what, Caleb. Caleb usually didn't like to be interrupted from his work, but when he saw Vanessa standing behind the door he felt nothing but joy. Vanessa -- "Cal, i thought about what you said all night.. and you have a point. I can't live in the past, it's too painful. I'm willing to give us a chance, i only ask that we take it slow.. my heart has alot of healing to do. But I need you now more than ever.."
Caleb was in pleasant disbelief until he reached out and put his arms around her. The warmth in their embrace told him he was dreaming afterall. Caleb -- "I love you Vanessa Russo." He whispered in her ear, "I'll wait for years in the hope that one day will feel the same for me."
