Welcome back to my so-called life. This little segment involves strange friends and the thorny quest for romance. Our house is full of romantics. Eve and Bubblegum are always hopelessly waiting for Mr. Right, a dream I don't think will ever happen. Even though Bubblegum is a cat watching the pet dating channel is kind of pathetic. I guess I could call myself a romantic too--but usually I just end up the matchmaker. Allison for instance comes over to escape her parents. They suffocate her with tradition and won't even let her have guys as friends. I think she has a thing for exchange students... I guess I always secretly wished I'd had parents who would miss me when I left for school and asked how my day went while we ate a perfectly cooked dinner. But when I met Allison I realized that parents can be pretty complicated. I taught her how to swim because her mom wouldn't let her wear a bathing suit in public. I just wish she'd remember to put a robe on afterwards...especially around Mark My brother however is a different story. He's kind of oblivious around girls. I think Aiko's perfect for him but he never seems to really notice her. Lia is a lot like me. Fiery, spontaneous, fashionable, and witty. But she's into techno which might freak Noir out a little. But I should quit worrying about Noir and start focusing on my own romantic problems. Allison recommended this character: Aten Massri, the spoiled, self-centered son of an Egyptian oil baron. I can see why she took an interest in him; he's a well known ladies man with the attention span of a gerbil. I mean really--does he have to be that obvious?? He lacks serious tact. On second thought---scratch that. Aten can have her. Noir seems to get along with Aten though which is surprising---I don't think they have a single thing in common. Yesterday Noir met Luna Moonbright after guitar lessons. She was waiting for her brother who was a good friend of Noir's and a lead base player. She's amazingly talented and has an amazing ear for music. Plus she and my brother have the same sense of humor and playful personality. The first night she came over they stayed up for hours exchanging the same lame jokes. I've never seen him hit it off with someone that quickly. I took this shot from the top of the stairs after Luna left. Yeah--I'm pretty convinced. I think Noir and Luna have a definite future together. I think I was kind of jealous of Luna at first and was worried I'd never find that perfect someone. That is---until I met Luna's twin...
