It would be late December before we were finally settled into our new home. It's almost Christmas Eve, and we're all in the holiday spirit. The next morning, Archer and Annabelle sat at the counter, quickly eating their pancakes. Archer was very excited about Christmas because he loved the cheery disposition that the holiday spread, but mostly because he wanted a Z-Quad 450. "Do you think they got my Z-Quad yet?" he asked Annabelle at the breakfast counter. "Why are you asking me?! For the kajillionth time, I HAVE NO IDEA!!! Besides you'll probably not get anything this year because of what you did to my dollhouse."

"Hey, I told you I was sorry," he said, "and I only got grounded. I don't think Dad would do that to me. He knows I want it really badly."
There was an awkward silence for the remainder of breakfast time. Christmas Day finally came, and Annabelle rushed downstairs around 6:00 to get her presents. "Merry Christmas, Anna," said Harper in an exuberant tone, "here's your present from me."

Annabelle gasped upon opening it.
"It's a telescope! Thanks, Mom!" She gave her a big hug.

"Little Bear," I called, "You forgot my present!"
Annabelle squealed as I handed her other present. "Here," I said, "to make up for what Archer did."

She knew exactly what it was as soon as I said that. "A new dollhouse?! Thanks, Daddy!"
She took the present and squeezed me like she was trying to crush me. I knew it meant a lot to her to get another dollhouse to make up for the one Archer broke last week. A couple of hours later, Archer walked downstairs to find me waiting for him. "Hi, Dad," he said shyly, "Is there anything under the tree for me, Dad?"

"Well, do you realize what you did to your sister was wrong?"
"Yes."
"Do you promise to never, ever, EVER do it again?"
"Yes."
"--and if, by any chance, you DO do it again, you will get your X-Quad 450 taken away?"
"Yes, I under-- WHAT?!"
"Merry Christmas, Archie!" Later that day, Annabelle wanted me to teach her how to play chess. As I'm teaching her, she asks me something surprising. "Um, Dad," she started, "can I ask you a question?"

"Sure, Little Bear, anything."
"Umm...can I go to the movies with Nery tomorrow?"

Although the question required a simple yes or no, I couldn't bring myself to say ANYTHING. "Dad,' she said innocently, "what's the matter?"

I quickly pulled myself together and, somehow, I blurted out a yes.
"REALLY?!" she said in an ecstatic voice, "Thanks--"

"Wait a minute," I said suspiciously, "who is he?"

"His name's Nery. He's a friend from school," she said quickly. "Thanks, Daddy," she said affectionately, "I love you."

"I love you, too," I replied, trying to figure things out. "Mom's gonna drive me to the store to pick something out for me to wear..."
She quickly got dressed and ran out the door, waving goodbye from outside. "Did Daddy freak out when you asked him," Harper asked, "about you going out?"

"Yeah, sorta," Annabelle sighed sadly.

Harper and Annabelle drove away, destination: Little People Boutique.
Annabelle searched for about an hour looking for the perfect outfit to wear on her 'date' with Nery. She tried this on... Then this... Then this..... Then went with this. Christmas dinner was a little quiet since Annabelle sprung the news of her date. We ate like birds, but still managed not to talk. The day of the date had finally come. Annabelle got all dressed up and waited for Nery's dad (he was driving them). She waited and waited and waited, until she couldn't stand it. Over an hour later, Annabelle called Nery. "Where the heck are you," she demanded to know, "and why aren't you here?!" All she heard on the other end of the line was a cacophony of laughter.

"What's is SO funny?!"
"YOU!!!"
"I don't get it. Would you mind letting me in on the joke?"

What she could make out through the ear-pounding laughter broke her heart. "The whole thing was a joke! I would NEVER date YOU!" There was more laughing, then the line went dead.
After an eternity of screaming, crying, I'm-so-sorry's and You're-too-good-for-him's, she finally went to sleep. The next day was Annabelle and Archer's birthday. They hugged each other tight. for it would be the last thing they do as children. Here's Archer... and here's Annabelle!

THE END

Note: I alologize for taking so long. Originally, I was going to wait until after Sims 2 FreeTime came out, but decided that that was too long. Hope you enjoyed this!
