A Better Life ... The Brandi Broke Story Hello, I'm sure you all know me Brandi Broke. I want to tell you my story, how I went from nothing to something. My story is about turning my life around as well as giving my children a better tomorrow. This is my late husband Skip proposing to me (at the bar of all places). As you all know my parents were devastated when I announced we were getting married. Here I am giving birth to my second son Beau. How was I to know I would be a widow in a couple of years. I decided it was time for a change, I could not continue to live like this. My oldest son was turning into a common criminal and my youngest son had no idea what we were going thru. I figured the first step in bettering myself was to get a job and I'm making Dustin quit his this afternoon. I know I'm going to be in a for a fight, but I'm his Mom. The next step in making a better life for us, was a much needed makeover. I went to the store and bought a little hair dye and some scissors. I think I did an okay job. I then went to the local women's center and got some of the clothes that are donated to women who are trying to get a job. It's almost time for Dustin to come home. I have to get our relationship back on track. How am I going to get thru to him that I'm the parent and he's the child? I'm going to put Beau down for a nap and get ready for the fireworks. "Dustin, you can not, no you will not continue to work with that that Gordon. He is a criminal and I will not see you go down the same road your father did. You are going to quit that job today. It is my responsibility as your parent to be the bread winner. Your job is to go to school and make better grades. I decided we needed a better life, so I got a job today." Surprisingly enough he was receptive to this new plan. I think it has something to do with that girl he's dating. She seems to be a good influence. Dustin told me he was looking for a way to quit, and I gave him his out. Just as we were getting our lives on track, I found out my late husband left me with a little surprise. I'd like to introduce you to Benjamin Broke. He made his way into the world just a little early. Our family seems to be complete. Dustin has been doing better in school. He has even discovered ... A love for painting. Dustin now wants to go to college. Can you believe that my son wants to go to college? I'm proud, we still have a couple of years left together. As you can see we are doing a little better for ourselves. I got a promotion at work and I took the bonus money and fixed our little trailer up. I think we'll get a good deal when we sell. That is what I sat Dustin down to talk about, I have found us a great three bedroom home. The home is fully furnished and he wouldn't have to share a room with his younger brother. I explained to him that this home is on the otherside of town. We will embark on a whole new life. Needless to say he is as excited as I am. We move in two months, it will be right after Beau's fifth birthday. Here is an aerial view of our new home. As you can see we are located right behind the Goths. Here we are on the first day in our new home. Benjamin turned two and Beau turned five. Dustin changed his hair color. I'm proud to say he is making all A's in school. I have finally been able to give my children the life they deserve. I was able to buy Dustin the jeep he has always wanted and he has his own room. He's leaving in just one short year for college, so I am trying to enjoy him while he is still here. One morning I was walking out to get the mail and I met this great guy. I know he looks a little goofy, but he just needs a woman's touch. His name is John and he is an executive at Lyle and Associates Energy. There was an instant attraction, but I didn't want to rush things. We've been going out for several months and we have become serious. He has been wanting to meet my children, he's coming over for dinner tonight to meet them for the first time. John hit it off with my children. They loved him. John PROPOSED at dinner. I gladly accepted. I never imagined life could get better for me and my children. I now know I was wrong. He played catch and video games with Beau. Skip passed on when Beau was an infant, so he never had a chance to have a father. He instantly fell in love with John. We were married in a small intimate ceremony with just John and I and my boys. This is one of the happiest days of my life. John and I are expecting our first baby together; he or she is due right before Dustin leaves for school. I'm hoping for a girl this time. Cross your fingers with me. This is my big happy family. This is our first family photo with our baby girl Jada. Dustin heads off to college tomorrow and Benjamin starts school next week. I achieved the dreams for my family. We have a better life. Thanks for reading my story. Comments are always appreciated.
