Invite You to Share the Beginning of Our
New Life Together When We
Exchange Marriage Vows
Everything I've been through over the past eight years has led to this moment, my Wedding Day. How'd I get here you ask? It all started when I fell in love at sixteen with Aaron Jamison. I thought he didn't like me, like me, but it turned out I was wrong. We started dating and we dated until junior year in college and then he dumped me. I was heartbroken; I thought I would never get over it. I eventually started dating again and became engaged to Wilson Daniels. He was a great guy and friend, but I wasn't in love with him. I broke off the engagement because I knew I was still in love with Aaron, I just didn't know how he felt about me. I also didn't know that our families were hoping we'd find our way back to each other (which we didn't find out until later). I found out how he felt about me on a plane ride home. My Dad was sick he collapsed in the front yard while tending to his fruit trees. I was half way around the world when he went into the hospital. Aaron and I happened to be at the same meet and he was standing there when I received the call from my sister. When we were on the plane Aaron told me, "You are special. I'm sorry. I thought I was doing the right thing in college, but I've been lost and heartbroken since I broke up with you. You are the most important person in the world to me and you always have been and I've wasted a lot of time acting like you're not. I wish I could undo the past, but I know I can't, but I can change the future. I want to give you the world if you'll give me the chance. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I love you Hannah always have and always will." Then he kissed me and I was so surprised and elated at the same time; I was speechless. I had so many thoughts running through my mind. I wanted to scream I love you too and I want nothing but to spend my life with you. Instead I said nothing. We were silent the remainder of the flight. Once we landed things went very fast, we rushed to the hospital to see my dad. We were separated at this time he went to find Aiden and I stayed with my family. Then Dr. Holmes came in and spoke to us about my dad's condition. "Dr. Wilkerson has a condition called pericardial effusion (PE). This happens when excess fluid collects in the sac (pericardium) surrounding the heart, it can also be caused by inflammation of the pericardium (the thin sac-like membrane that surrounds your heart). We have performed a CT, MRI, Ekg and an Echocardiogram. At this time we are uncertain of the etiology of the PE. We would like to perform a pericardiocentsis. We will perform this at the beside; he will be given a local anesthetic and pain medication. The risks and complications include ventricular rupture, dysrhythmias, pneumothorax, myocardial and/or coronary artery laceration and infection. Mrs. Wilkerson we need you to sign the consent forms so we can perform the procedure; I will give you time to discuss it with your family. Do you have any questions?" "No, I want to discuss this with my family. I'm sure Aiden; I mean Dr. Jamison can answer any question we have." "Okay, I'll be back in fifteen minutes." Aiden thanked the doctor as he left the room. At this point my mom just crumbled which made Haley do the same. I knew I had to be strong for them. I proceeded to pummel Aiden with questions. He answered, "This is an invasive procedure and there are risks, but the best cardiothoracic surgeons will be treating him and he'll be able to go home tomorrow." I told mom, "Dad is strong he'll pull through this. I then asked, Mom will you be okay if I go in and say hi?" "Go ahead sweetheart, I'll pull myself together." When I went to his room, I discovered he had another visitor. Aaron was there and they were talking like old friends. I walked in the room and my dad said, 'Hey Ladybug how is everything?" "I should be asking you that. Are you feeling okay Daddy?" "I'm fine, I know what they are going to do and I have performed that procedure hundreds of times, everything is going to be fine. I was just thanking Aaron for getting you home safe. I think I owe him at least dinner or something." I thought I saw my dad wink at him, but then I said no it's just a trick of the light. "Yeah, I guess I do owe him something," I said as I smiled mischievously. "I need to go check on Mom and since you have someone to keep you company I'll be back."
"Ladybug, why don't you send your mom in, I know she's worried I need to explain to her that everything is going to be fine. Aaron can take you to the cafeteria for some coffee or something." I thought I saw that wink again, but I just dismissed it. I stopped by the family room and let my mom know dad wanted to talk to her. Then we headed for the cafeteria. I sat at the table while Aaron grabbed us two coffees. "Are you okay? Your dad said that it's a basic procedure and it only takes thirty to forty-five minutes. He's strong, he'll pull through this." I remembered saying those words just twenty minutes before to my family, but somehow they brought no comfort right now. I started to cry and then I felt his strong arms around me. It felt right and I just let him hold me. "You're wonderful," I whisper to him. I feel his body stiffen, but I continue. "You're the answer to every prayer I've ever prayed. You're the dream that has come true. Every moment without you is like an eternity. I don't know how I've lived without you this long. I love you Aaron more than you'll ever know." This time I kissed him and it was sweet and tender. It said everything I was feeling. I know it wasn't the most romantic setting, but I couldn't hold it in any longer. It was our destiny, we were meant to be. My phone started to chirp; it was Haley, dad was about to have the procedure. Aaron walked behind me as we went back to the family waiting room. I sat with my mom to hold her hand and give her comfort. I was discovering love as she was praying not to lose hers. I realized there are no words of comfort anybody can give, so I just held her hand as she laid her head on my shoulder. Thirty-eight minutes later Dr. Holmes came in and told us everything turned out well and my dad would stay overnight for observation. My dad asked that my mom come to see him. Aaron sat next to me on the couch and just put his arms around me and at that moment it was all I needed. We went in to say our goodbyes to Mom and Dad, mom was staying overnight. Haley gave me a ride home and we talked about everything that happened. I think she was more excited than I was. I was exhausted; I took a shower and went right to sleep. I got up the next morning to meet my mom at the hospital to bring my dad home. The next few months were a roller coaster ride. My dad had a speedy recovery and I moved out. I found a perfect town home in Bluewater Village, which was right around the corner from Aaron (I didn't know that when I bought it). We spent every second we could together. We were dating again. We did everything ice skating, roller skating, dancing, long afternoon walks, dinner and the list goes on. We even started making sure we competed at the same meets and stayed in the same hotels. I was head over heels for him and him for me. Life couldn't have gotten any better (or so I thought). Aaron found out our favorite band (The Veronas) would be in town playing at the restaurant (Le Magnifique! Piano Bar) where we had our first date. He knew the owner of the place very well; he was an old friend of the family. He went to the restaurant and told him what he was planning, and he asked Morris to help him make it a night I'd never forget. Aaron invited my parents and his to his house for an exquisite meal. It was there that he asked my parents permission for my hand in marriage. Our moms started to cry and our dads were ecstatic. Haley called me and asked if I would go shopping with her. I whined because I don't like shopping, but I agreed to go because I don't see much of my sister. I didn't know everybody was part of Aaron's plan. We went to the mall in Bluewater and started looking for formal dresses. She tried on about fifty dresses and each time she'd ask me if it was something I'd wear (most of them weren't), but then the last two were gorgeous. She didn't even buy those two; she bought three other dresses that I wouldn't dress Jazzy (family dog) in. Then she hauled me off to five more stores. I was at my wits end and finally after asking me about all the stuff I liked she bought the opposite. I didn't know what was wrong with her; nor did I care I was sick of that place. She finally dropped me off at home at three and I tried to take a nap, but unfortunately the phone wouldn't stop ringing. My mom called and said she needed me to come to the house right away, they couldn't find Jazzy and they were afraid she'd run away. I jumped in the car and rushed over and as I'm pulling in the driveway my phone rung again. It was my mom saying my dad found her in the game room asleep behind the pinball machine. I told her I'd just pulled in and I was tired so I was going to take a nap before I drove home. As I was about to walk into my old bedroom she said I couldn't go in there because dad was napping in there (I thought that was strange for him to be in there); I was to tired to question it and went into the guest room to sleep. I heard a loud bang and it woke me up at five thirty. I went into the kitchen where the noise came from; my dad had dropped some pots on the floor. "Oh, Ladybug did I wake you? I'm sorry. Aaron came by and left something for you on the table." Now I started to get suspicious. "How did Aaron know I was here?" "You left your purse on the table and your phone started ringing and I didn't want it to wake your mother, you know she's a light sleeper. I saw it was Aaron calling so I answered. He said he had to go out of town so he needed to drop something off for you." I picked the envelope off the table and opened it and there was a note in there that read:
Baby, this evening is for you. Yet there are tasks you must
perform. Your dad will give you further instructions and
you must do as he asks.
I turned and looked at my dad and smiled, "What's next?" "Go into your old bedroom and pick a dress off the bed and the corresponding jewelry and shoes. Bring them to me and then go upstairs to Haley's old bathroom further instructions await you there. When I walked into the bathroom candles and flowers were everythere, and there was another note.
Sweetheart, take a relaxing bubble bath filled with all the
luxurious scents that you love. When you are done
someone will meet you in Haley's room to help you dress. After I took a long bath, I went into Haley's bedroom and my mom was waiting. She helped me get dressed, and told me I looked beautiful. She told me to go into her bedroom and sit at the vanity. When I went into her room Mrs. Jamison was there. She said, "My job tonight is to do your hair and make-up." She handed me another note.
You're almost finished. When my mom is done go
downstairs and further instructions await you.
I can't wait to see you. When she finished I felt complete. I went downstairs and there was another note on the coffee table.
Haley is going to drive you to the place where I'll be
waiting. Please place this mask on your face. When the
car stops keep it on and Haley will guide you out of the
car and I'll be waiting for you. We drove for what seemed like an eternity. I kept asking Haley questions, but she told me, "Be patient, we're almost there." As the car slowed down my anticipation grew and my heart was racing. I was led up a flight of stairs, the mask was removed and before me was a beautifully decorated ballroom. A table was in the middle of the room and our favorite group was there ready to play. I looked around and at first I didn't see Aaron, then he greeted me with a single calla lillie. The Veronas began to play,
*Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my was into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you* At that moment I didn't see anybody but Aaron and it finally hit me as to what this night was about. Everything started to happen in slow motion as I saw him hit one knee and The Veronas started playing a different song.
*How'd'ya like to be in my wedding
(And) how'd'ya like to walk down the aisle
"Hannah, you mean more to me than mere words can every say.
You could be the center of attention
Everyone would look at you and smile You are the love of my life and joy that is beyond measure.
We could send our friends invitations
You could wear a long white dress
I have never loved another except you and I'm asking you will you do me the honor of being my wife.
If you'd like to be in my wedding, darlin'
All'ya have to do is say, "Yes"* I couldn't believe this was happening, it felt like a dream. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face if I tried and the tears were flowing. I answered, "Yes, I'd love to be your wife." The band continued to play.
Your folks could be seated in the very front row
And cry when we all turn to look at you
We could cut the cake
And we could strike a pose
Like the little bitty plastic bride and groom
And then begin our life-long honeymoon It was then I noticed everybody we knew was there and they were clapping; some people were crying. It was an amazing night. I didn't know how Aaron pulled it all off, but it's a night I'll never forget. Two weeks later my mom was in my bedroom shaking me to wake up. "Get up sleepy head, it's time to start planning the wedding," my mom said. Groggily I said, "Are you serious, I feel like I just laid down. Please just give me a couple more hours; I'm still on European time." "Well get up we have a lot to do and not a lot of time since you two have only given us a month to prepare." I begrudgingly got out of bed and stumbled into the bathroom. When I got dressed and went downstairs my mom had made pancakes. Mrs. Jamison started pulling books and notebooks out of her bag. "We have already booked the church and the dance hall for the reception. Aaron insisted on only one thing and that was the band; The Veronas have been booked. Haley is on her way over so we can go to the bridal shop and look for your wedding dress. Have you decided on the colors you want?"
I started to fell overwhelmed, all these decisions. I just stared at then and then back at my pancakes. Luckily, Haley walked in and provided the necessary distraction. "Hey. Are you guys ready to go?" she said. "Yes please let's go." We all piled in the car and headed down to the best bridal shop in Bluewater. We were in that shop for hours I tried on a million dresses. I started getting irritable, I realized I didn't touch my pancakes at all and I was starving.
"Hey Han, what do you think of this for your bridesmaids? I think this will be the perfect color to match your flowers," mom said. "Yeah, that looks great, can we go now. We've been here for hours. Don't we have everything?" Haley sat next to me and said, "What's wrong Han? Aren't you excited about the wedding?" "I'm so happy to be marrying Aaron, but I thought it would be something small; nothing this lavish. There are so many decisions to make from flowers to food, clothing, hairstyles, bridesmaids, flower girls, ring bearers and the list goes on and on. I just feel so overwhelmed. How did you do this?" "It'll all turn out beautifully Hannah, you'll see. There are only a few decisions left to make. The wedding will be beautiful and it'll be over before you know it and you and Aaron will start your life together. You'll see, you'll look back and be happy about this wonderful day." I just smiled and hugged Haley; she always knew what to say to make me feel better. We decided to have our rehearsal dinner the same place Haley and Aiden had theirs Crystal Beach Lagoon. I couldn't believe I was one day away from being Mrs. Aaron Jamison. The anticipation was building. My bridal party and I went to the saloon to relax and prepare for the wedding. I was getting more nervous as the hours passed. I missed Aaron terribly as I was unable to see him or talk to him until the wedding. Haley helped me get dressed and I made a speech to my wedding party thanking them for being involved in our special day. The guests.... The guests.... The guests.... Then the music started playing and it was our parents turn to walk down the aisle. Aaron and I decided they should walk down the isle to:
*You were always there for me
The tender wind that carried me
A light in the dark shining your love into my life
You've been my inspiration
Through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you* Then it was the ring bearer Ryan (my nephew). Next it was the bridesmaids & groomsmen. Then the flower girl Justine (Sam and Abigail's daughter). The only people left were me and Haley and she decided to be funny. "Don't trip down the aisle I don't know if Dad could catch you, just kidding. You look beautiful. I love you, Daddy's waiting for you." I hug Haley and thank her for being so patient with me and helping me get to this day. She squeezed my hand and walked toward the door and she disappeared through it. My dad kissed my cheek and said, "Aaron is the luckiest man alive and I think he knows it. This is the hardest thing for a farther to do. I love you, Ladybug." Haley..... The wedding march started and my dad and I start walking. Funny thing is all I could see was Aaron. Wedding party.....
Aaron's excited..... Pastor Green said, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered together in the sight of God and before these witnesses to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony, which is commended to be honorable among all men; and therefore is not by any to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly but reverently, discreetly, advisedly and solemnly. Into this holy estate these two persons present now come to be joined. If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together let them speak now or forever hold their peace. Do you Aaron take Hannah to be your wife to live together after God's ordinance in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sadness and in joy, to cherish and continually bestow upon her your heart's deepest devotion, forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto her as long as you both shall live?" Aaron said, "I do."
Authors Note: I wanted Wilson to object, but he was destroyed when my game corrupted. I couldn't save him. Do you Hannah take Aaron to be your husband to live together after God's ordinance in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sadness and in joy, to cherish and continually bestow upon him your heart's deepest devotion, forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto him as long as you both shall live?" I said, "I do." "May you always share with each other the gifts of love to be one in heart and in mind. In as much as Aaron and Hannah have consented together in marriage before this company of friends and family and have pledged their faith and declared their unity by giving and receiving a ring are now joined. You have pronounced yourselves husband and wife but remember to always be each other's best friend. And So, by the power vested in me by Almighty God, I now pronounce you man and wife and may your days be good and long upon the earth. You may now kiss the bride."
I'll just say it was a nice sweet church kiss. We headed over to the dance hall for the reception. "Introducing for the first time anywhere Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Jamison," Alicia said (The Veronas lead singer). We shared our first dance to:
*I see your momma and the candles
and the tears and roses
I see your daddy walk his daughter down the aisle
I feel my knees start to tremble as I tell the preacher
Don't she look beautiful tonight
All the wonderful words in my head I've been thinkin'
You know I wanna say them all just right
I lift your veil and angels start singin'
Such a heavenly sight He whispered in my ear, "I love you, this is a dream come true."
Lost in this moment with you
I am completely consumed
I murmur, "I love you too."
By feeling so absolute there's no doubt
Sealing our love with a kiss
Waiting my whole life for this
Watching all my dreams come true
Lost in this moment with you* Everything went so fast: dancing with our parents, dinner, toast, cutting the cake. Now we are being whisked off to our honeymoon. Thanks for sharing this special day with us. The Wedding Party
