Hello everyone!
It's finally ready, the next part of "Friend or foe?" I suggest you to read the intro and the first chapter as well, if you haven't done it before or if some of you have forgotten the story because of the big delay. Shame on me for it took me so long to create this part! ;)
Well, it wasn't only my fault, I got a new PC and when I installed back my saved Sims it didn't work, after about 5 minutes of gameplay I got this really annoying sentence "The application has crashed, the application will now terminate." and the game quitted (uh, how I hate this) so I only installed back my downloads and what a miracle, now it has no problem X)
But that's enough about my computer, let the story continue! :)

:) After April escaped from the building and Gary calmed down his nerves he examined the door handle, maybe he could get April's fingerprints from it. But then he realized that he touched it too when he ran after her, so he had to find an other way of getting this useful evidence. He remembered that April said that she examined the phone in the victim's office and found it strange that he called her so late when she wasn't here. Gary was lucky, he found some useable fingerprints on the phone and he decided that he'll bring them right away to the lab, so the forensics can analyze them immediately. He went back to April's office and called the lab. He was sure that someone will be there in this time but he checked it for sure.
"Hi Brandis, I'm Gary Rico, I've found some new evidence in Mr. Wytham's case, I see that you're still working so I'll take it to you, okay?"
"Okay, Rico. We will be here for a while today so come when you can. And if it's not a problem, could you please bring us some coffe on your way here?" asked the forensic. "Of course, I'll bring them. Anyway, can you tell me something new?" Gary asked.
"Well, not too much. The fingerprints we've found at the scene aren't in our database, but that's not a surprise. The DNA that we've found in the gloves is surely the DNA of a woman. That's it so far."
"Thank you Brandis, see you in the lab." said Gary and he hunged up. 'I just finish checking her PC for some clues or motives and then I'll head back to the lab' he thought. He wanted to find something which could be the motive for April to murder his boss, maybe some business papers or love letters (if it was true that she was in love with Steve like his wife said) but he didn't find anything interesting so he went back to the laboratory. Next day early in the morning April decided that it's time for some action, if she wants to learn some new information she has to work for it. She changed into her "ambulance officer" costume which she wore at a fancy-dressball last year, and she headed to the morgue. She got all of her courage and stepped in as loosy as she could. In front of her there was a big table with a pale body on it. She quickly turned her head away from the corpse and reminded herself of the story which she found out earlier. There was only one doctor in the room, he was busy with a strange machine. When he heard the creack of the door he turned back his head and then walked towards April to greet her. He didn't seem to be angry or something which could meant he was facing an intruder so April thought her plan was working. "Good morning miss, how can I help you?" asked Alex, the doctor.
"Hi, my name is eh, Anna, I was the one who brought here a poor man, named Steve Wytham, with the ambulance car yesterday" said April. "I just wanted to know if he's now in good hands, you know?" she forced a light smile to seem casual. "Yes, as you can see he is having a rest on my table right now. Everything is okay with him, don't worry. But it's great to see that in nowdays we have such caring workers" he was joking but his face wasn't show that.
"Well, to be honest, I'm here to get some information about his death. You know, I would like to learn what the coroners do, so maybe I can be promoted to one of them because their pay is way better then ours" she said with a said voice. It seems that her story worked because Alex got nicer with her.
"I totally understand your situation, once I worked with the ambulance car too, and it was awful. I think it won't hurt poor Mr. Wytham if I say some things to you about him. Let's see, at first it seemed that he got an apoplexy but when I looked into his mouth, I've found out that he got murdered. He got Heparin overdose, you know." he said. "I understand" said April though she didn't really understand at all.
"We don't know who did it to him, but there's one thing I know for sure. The murderer went for sure, because I've found only one syringe but there are two pricks on his arm. He got a really big dose of Heparin, so the poor man didn't have a chance to survive this attack." Alex said.
April heard enough, she was so confused about this overdosing thing, she had to get out quickly so she thanked the doctor for his help and said goodbye. Some hours later, after the sun rose doctor Alex had another visiter. It was Gary, he came here for the same thing as April, to learn some new information about the case.
"Hello Alex, do you have some free minutes for me?" he asked smiling.
"Of course, my friend. You want to hear something about this poor man on the table, don't you?" asked Alex. "Yes, that's exactly why I came here. So what can you tell me?" said Gary.
The doctor told him the same things just like he did before when April was here, about the quantity of the overdose, the two pricks and the only one syringe. He also took the victims fingerprints and DNA in case it's needed for the investigations.
"So, that is all I can tell you too right now" Alex finished his presentation. "What do you mean by 'you too'? Was someone here before me? Maybe one of the forensics?" asked Gary.
"Well, not really. A young lady, was here, who bring him here with the ambulance car. She wants to get promoted to a coroner so I helped her by saying some tricks about my job and this case, you know." said Alex.
"A young lady? What was she look like?"
"Well, she was quite pretty even in that awful uniform of hers. Her name was Anna, she was tall and thin with brown eyes and had a short black hair in two pigtails." said Alex. Gary didn't get angry, instead of he was laughing about how April could mislead such a clever coroner like Alex. She's surely a good actress.
"Well Alex, to tell you the truth, you've given information to our main suspect" said Gary still laughing. " But don't worry, I won't tell it anyone, I promise."
"What a fool I was... I knew I should tell her nothing but I believed her story..." said Alex with shame.
"Don't blame yourself, anybody would have believed for her, not just you. She's very clever, isn't she?" Gary said smiling then said goodbye to the dissapointed doctor. After her little visit in the morgue April called a taxi and went to the suburb where Nina's cousin lives. The taxi driver stopped in front of a little house of wood, April paid the bill and headed towards the front door. 'So, this will be my shelter for some days... I thought it will be worse, when Nina told me that he lives in a wooden house' she thought to herself then knocked on the door. "Oh hi, you must be April, Nina has told me a lot about you. I'm Oliver, her cousin as you already know. Now, come on in!" the man said. He was young with green eyes and has a funny haircut.
"Thanks for allowing me to stay here some days. I won't be here long, I don't wanna bother you" said April. "Oh, leave it, you won't bother anyone here, especially not me. Come sit down and I light a fire in the fireplace, it's a little chilly here" he said while poking the fire.
"Uhm, did Nina tell you why should I leave the city for a while?" asked April. She didn't know if Oliver knows that the police is after her or not.
"Of course, don't worry she told me everything and if she says that you're innocent then I'll too believe that you're innocent and I'll help you as I can" he answered. He was so kind just like Nina. "Thank you for everything. I really don't wanna cause you trouble. I just want to prove that I'm not the murderer and I can't do it from jail" she said honestly. She felt that she could trust him.
"Yes, I understand you. Would you mind telling me what happened with you and your boss? Nina just told me the story in a nutshell" asked Oliver.
"Of course. On that day when my boss got murdered I went home from work as usual but about half way home I realized that I've forgotten my gloves in the office so I turned back. And when I arrived back at the office building I found him dead in his own office" said April remembering that terrible night. "Oh my gosh, that should have been frightening! If I'm right you couldn't help him, could you?" asked Oliver.
"Unfortunately not, I think he was dead for a while... He was so cold... I just called the police and then left the building, I just couldn't stay in that office anymore" said April with a said tone.
"I absolutely understand you, if I were you I maybe..." he was interrupted by the phone, it started to ring. "Hello, it's Oliver Olsen speeking" he picked up the phone. April was frightened, maybe someone recognized her on the way here and now police is looking for her?
"Oh, hi Nina, your call gave me the creeps, I thought it'll be the police. And I think April got frightened too" he added smiling when he saw the surprised look on April's face. They chatted for a while then said goodbye and both hunged up the phone. "It was Nina, she said that about an hour before two policeofficers and a detective, called Rico were there at her and asked a lot of questions about you. But of course she hasn't told them anything important." said Oliver.
"Poor Nina, I hope she won't get in trouble and they leave her alone. This detective Rico is smart, he's always in my trace. I have to act quickly before he finds me" she said and then she explained her plan to Oliver. The next morning after she stepped out from her room she faced Oliver with a pack of clothes in his hands. She didn't have to ask what they are because when Oliver handed over them she realized what kind of clothes they are.
"But how did you get them? That was quick, yesterday I told you that I need some uniform and then today you have them?" she said smiling. "I have a lot of useful friends in the right places so I called some of them and today morning I got what you need for your little plan." he said with a little sadness in his voice. April hugged him and thanked him, she has known him for only a day but it felt like they were friends from their childhood.
"I know I can't dissuade you from this but promise me you'll be careful. Nina will kill me if something wrong will happen to you while I'm the one who responsible for you" he said now smiling. "I will be careful, I promise" she said then took the clothes and said goodbye to Oliver. The taxi was waiting for her in front of the house, which will take her to a very dangerous journey but she decided, she has to do it, if she wants relevant information. On that same day Gary decided that it's time to talk again with the widow, maybe he get some useful information about Steve's business partners, or maybe about April's whereabout. So for the second time this week he standed in front of this beautiful house which is full of luxury. Like the last time Tamia, the maid opened the door. She welcomed him excited, she wanted to know everything about how the investigation proceeds.
"What could you ascertain for the time being, Mr. Rico?" she asked.
"Well, we have some new information about Mr. Wytham's death and have some fingerprints and a woman's DNA, but I really can't tell you everything because it's a private investigation." said Gary the usual sentence. "I would like to talk to Mrs. Wytham, is she at home?"
"Of course, you can find her out in the garden, she's at the pool, behind the house" she said shortly, she realized that she won't learn any new information about the case. Gary started to walk behind the house but after some seconds Tamia changed her mind, she wanted to say one more thing to Gary, so she ran after him and stopped Rico.
"Uhm Mr. Rico, I just wanted to let you know that April Sanders is a good person, she was always kind to me. She's not the kind of woman like Mrs. Wytham has described her and I think she isn't a murderer. She would never do such a terrible thing" she wasn't sure if it was a good idea that she told her opinion to Gary so when she finished she didn't wait for an answer just quickly headed back to the kitchen. After Tamia left him alone, Gary followed the little path of stones which leads to the pool behind the house. He could see Catherine sunbathing next to the pool in a comfy chair. It was a very warm autumn day, her red hair was waving in the small breeze. "Good afternoon Catherine, may I ask you some questions again?" he asked.
"Of course you can, please have a seat. It's so nice outside, it's not a problem if we stay here, is it?" she asked.
"I don't wanna bother you for long, it's really 1 or 2 questions." he said. "You never bother me... especially if it's about my deceased husband. Has your coroner already finished the dissection of his body? Because I would like to arrenge his funeral as soon as it's possible." said Catherine.
"Yes, I think he's done with the dissection, so we don't need his body anymore, you can bury him." "Let's see my questions, okay? Have you got a pair of gloves made from black leather? We found them at the scene with a woman's DNA in them." asked Gary.
"No, I haven't got any, I don't wear gloves. You know, I don't need them because whenever I wanna go somewhere I was driven there by car. And that's the same for the way home." answered Catherine.
"Okay, my second question is that I would like to have a look at your husband's computer here, because we didn't find anything interesting in his PC in his office so maybe I can find some evidence in his home PC." he said. Catherine got up from his chair and stood in front of him. She stretched in the sun and then answered:
"Well if it's necesarry for you to catch the murderer of my husband, then do it. But I think you should check again his computer in his office, I'm sure you'll find some letters or e-mails from April. As I told you before she pursued him with her love."
"We didn't find anything like that as I mentioned, that's because I would like to check his home PC. Maybe those e-mails are here that you are talking about." said Gary the perfect sentence. "Okay, then have a look at it, I hope you find the evidence you need and I can tell you this will be the motive of April for the murder." she said while climbing down in the pool.
"Can you tell me where I find his computer?"
"Of course it's on the second floor, go upstairs and then turn right, there is an aquarium and next to it there is the door to his home office. And if you finished and want to have a little relaxing swim, I'll be here in the pool." she added smiling. Gary thanked the invitation and excused himself that he hasn't got the time for it. Then he went into the house, climbed up the stairs and found the aquarium and the door between two sculptures. He didn't waste the time, he went directly inside the room. It was a really tiny office with wooden walls and shiny, brown parquet. The furniture was all black and metal and had the latest modern style. He sat in front of his computer and started to search it thoroughly. He read every interesting and recent file and e-mail. After about 15 minutes he found something interesting in a well hidden folder.
'Hmm, these e-mails are quite interesting, they're from a common e-mail address (t.a.t.a.@hotmail.com) wonder who this could be? One thing is sure, Catherine was right about, that Steve had an affair, but I should find out if it's April or someone else' he thought to himself then copied the needed files into his USB device. While Gary checked the victim's computer, April put on those clothes that Oliver gave her earlier and she stood in front of the police headquarters of the city. She knew that she has to do it, and once she got inside she will be in great danger. This was the last point when she could turn back but she didn't retreat. She stepped inside the hall of the building, it was huge with a lot of police officers talking and walking and working their. She knew she has to find the department of the detectives but she didn't know where it is. Fortunately she saw a bulletin board which showed the departments' locations. She acted like she's examining the plant next to it but she read the board, It said that the detectives are on the second floor. So she walked towards the elevator and went up to the second floor. She was sure that if she could use one of the computers here, she could get all the information on her case without being noticed. There were only a few detectives in the huge room, so she could easily find an unused notebook. She sat in front of it and started to search as quickly as she can, but she also had to be (or at least seem to be) very calm or maybe one of the detectives could find her suspicious. She was right, in this building she wasn't hindered with firewalls or passwords, she could search up all the evidences what Gary and his collegues have found until now. She learned that they found one fingerprint on the syringe, they also got a pair of black gloves with a DNA of a woman in it ('My gloves! Wonder whom is that DNA belongs to, eh...') There were some high-heels' prints in the rug, and Gary got fingerprints from April ('Ha, I thought he's smart, I should be more careful.') She read the whole presentation about the dissection and some information about the related persons (Mrs. Wytham, the maid, the porter etc.) While April was doing her search in the database Gary finished at the Wythams and made his way back to the headquarters, he arrived in the hall and greeted his collegues, chatted with some of them and then went to the elevator on the leftside of the hall to get to his office on the second floor. When he stepped out of the elevator he saw some detectives working in the room, some of them were busy with a pile of books, others were typing something on their computers or discussing cases on the phone, and when he looked at the other elevator he saw a beautiful police officer with black hair. Gary was sure she isn't a detective but somehow she was familiar for him. When the woman stepped in the elevator she noticed Gary and just for a moment she looked into his eyes. In that moment Gary realized who she is. 'It's April Sanders, what the hell is she doing in the police headquarters wearing a police officer's uniform?!' he thought while he pushed the elevator's button for hundreds of times, trying to speed it up. When he finally got downstairs he searched the hall which was extremely crowded with police officers in this time, after some seconds he saw a black haired woman who was leaving the building. 'I got you, now you won't escape!' he thought and started to walk towards the door. He cut his way through the crowd and ran after April as fast as he can. He easily reached her because she wasn't running she was only walking on the sidewalk. He shouted at her to wait and stop, so the woman stopped. And when she turned back, Gary knew that he made a mistake. It wasn't April, just a real police officer with her black hair in a ponytail just like the way April had her hair. The woman was very surprised, Gary said sorry and he explained that he only mixed her with someone else. Gary was raging. Now he couldn't laugh. She was indeed smart. But now she escaped from him for the second time. It wasn't right, Gary Rico isn't the man from who you can slip away twice. Remember, he believed this case will be as boring as the others he had lately. Now he knew that he erred :)
That's for now guys, sorry again for the long time between two parts. I promise next part will be ready sooner (I'm already working on it). And if you have noticed any difference between the lots that's because I had to remake them all. See you soon! ;)
