Meet Benton, his wife Linda and little Javi. A small happy family living tucked away in the the snowy mountains. Benton is very fond of his only child, Javi. She hums the tune as he sings 'Twinkle Little Star' to her. "Okay princess it's off to slumber-land, give me a kiss good night." She did just that with a tight little hug. "G'night sweety" Linda told her daughter, knowing she will be asleep in no time. She kissed her forehead tenderly. "Where's my good night kiss?" Benton peered over to Linda as he took her hand. Linda giggled at his playfulness, kissed his cheek. "Awww, that was a little one," Benton teased. "I'm going to miss you so much, when you leave tomorrow. I wish you could stay here now through Christmas." Linda pleaded knowing it was no use.
"Same, but I will be back on Christmas day, or before then." Benton's job was getting demanding, but he could use the extra income for the holidays since they were struggling.
Cuddling close to her husband feeling secure, Linda was fast asleep. Benton before drifting into deep sleep smiled to himself. Dreams came flooding to Benton. Dreaming of a heavy snowfall.... Javi was in this deep snow alone.... Seemed to be in some kind of trouble. Awakening suddenly he realized it was only a bad dream. "How disturbing," Benton muttered, catching the smell of bacon. "Mmmm, now that smells wonderful." forgetting the bad dream. "Mama! Ma-aa-ma!" Impatient Javi bellowed, finished with her food and now wants down to play. "Okay sweety, one second and I'll let you out." said Linda carefully flipping the bacon over. "Emergency!" Benton heard his daughter demanding, and played along with her, "Have no fear my lady, we will have you free in no time." He swooped her up into his arms laughing with her. "Again!" Javi begged. During breakfast, "You should eat more, because I made enough for a army." Linda said concerned. "I can't eat another bite, my compliments to the chef." Benton now feeling the sadness of the departure," I should be going, before people run out of logs to burn." he continued. Giving hugs and kisses good-bye was hard for him. He wished his job was easier, the few locals around here were spread miles apart and depended on his logging and delivery. He kept telling himself it shouldn't take more than a week, but depending on the weather, they sometimes run into snow blizzards. "Aww don't cry now little one, I'll be back before you know it." soothed Benton. "Wave bye-bye to Daddy, Javi." Linda said trying not to cry herself, "We will play Teddy bear tea party, okay. How's that sound?" "No! I want Daddy!" wailed Javi now rubbing her eyes. Glancing back in the rear view mirror, he can see them watching him drive off, "Oh, hopefully this will be a short run." sighed Benton. "It's sure getting chilly tonight. Let me get this going better." Linda put some more logs in the wood stove. Up the stairs to put sleeping beauty in her bed. Trying to make time go by faster, Linda picks up a fictional book while listening to the radio. "We interrupt this program with a serious message, Road 67 and 823 will be closed due to extreme snow blizzard. We advise do not travel. And now back to the program....." "W-wh-hat..." immediantly Linda tossed her book and grew more frantic. "Ohhh we have no phone to find out what's going on. I need to get help to Benton! He's on that road!" Stay tune for the next part. Coming soon. Thanks for reading & thanks again to our creators :o)
