Welcome to Episode 9 of Extreme Sim Homemakeover! Today, we're in Hidden Grove with the couple Zach and Roxanne. Let's meet Zach and Roxanne! The two just moved to Hidden Grove, and purchased a large house hidden in the woods. Originally, they wanted to make it into a bed and breakfast, but because they want to start a family, they want to be able to have a nice larger house with a large yard. Let's take a look at the lot. Here is the front yard. It is overgrown with plenty of trees, and a mysterious fog hovers around the pathway and entrance. Inside... the entrance and living room is a disaster. Debris covers the entire area. On the second floor, things aren't any better. Leaves, blown in from the broken windows, and garbage cover the hallwall. The third floor is just as bad. Since there isn't much to the house, and it's completely trashed, let's find out what Roxanne and Zach want.

Roxanne: I want to see some landscaping done, and I want to be able to see the house from the road. I don't like how hidden it is. Some trees are fine though.

Zach: I like that there is a porch on the house, but I'd like to see it changed up a bit.

Host: So, we have so far: better landscaping, especially in the front so that the house is not so hidden and something done with the porch on the front.

Roxanne: I would also like to have a small greenhouse attached to the kitchen if it's possible. And a small sun room or something along those lines with plenty of light.

Host: Anything else you would like to see, Zach?

Zach: Hmm... I can't really think of anything. I'll be happy with pretty much anything.

Host: Well, do you know what that means? It's time for you to leave so we can begin work on your Extreme Sim Homemakeover!
Zach and Roxanne are gone, and now work can begin on their very creepy house. Early the next morning, the crew begins by removing the trees. And the tree removal continues. Wow! The crew is really making progress, and by removing all these trees, the front looks a lot better already. The front looks so bare now! With all the trees finally out of the way, clean up inside can begin. The first task is to clean up all the leaves and debris. Moving upstairs, work is going to take even longer with all of these leaves to clean up. There! After all that racking and picking up garbage, the debris is finally cleaned! Outside, our crew works on tearing this porch down. One worker goes up onto the roof of the porch to begin ripping shingles off... The pile on the ground of old shingles is beginning to grow! The porch is going down nicely. A what a difference removing the porch has had on the appearence of the house! Inside in the third floor back office, one of the workers made a starting discovery. There is a cemetary in the backyard. No one had any idea this cemetary existed in the back. The paths to the backyard had become so overgrown that it was impossible to reach. After making this discovery, we sent Roxanne down to the local library to do some research. We discovered that an elderly man that lived in the house with his children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, he passed away, and was buried outback. Roxanne was able to learn more about the house and its history. She found out that long before the elderly man even moved into the house, it was by a group that performed strange rituals in the house. However, Roxanne could not find out more on what exactly the rituals were for. Roxanne did learn that strange events were recorded in the house after the elderly man moved in. After he passed away, the family moved, but each of his children requested that they be buried there, and sure enough, each of them passed away at the same age their father was when he passed away- 72. Zach and Roxanne have to decide what they want to do. Do they want to keep the house or find a new house or lot, and we can build them a new house from scratch.

Roxanne: Well, I really love this lot, but I don't know.

Zach: Well, I would like to stay here and just keep going. A lot of time and money has been put into it.

Roxanne: But what about the cemetary?

Zach: Well, from our research we have found that they actually were never buried there. They just placed the headstones there to make it look like they were buried there. Kinda strange I know.

Roxanne: Okay. We'll stay here, and just keep going. I would like to have those headstones donated to a museum, or moved to their real resting place.

Work can now resume. The trees in theback will be removed, and the headstones will be moved as well.
Now the work has resumed, great progress has been cutting down the trees. The back is finally accessible. But late one evening when one of the workers continued to work on cutting down the trees, heclaimed to have seen a ghost... ...and ran away as fast as he could from the house. We have not seen him since. The following day after the worker ran away, another member of our crew came to help finish removing the trees, and she helped to move most of the headstones. After moving all the headstones, the crew checked to make sure there really was nothing there, and sure enough, there was nothing under the headstones. Finally, work can begin on the house itself. Construction will begin in the front of the house. As the walls begin to go down, the mysterious fog has disappeared. Perhaps changing the house from its original state has broken the "curse" that was put on teh house. Before the new foundation can be laid down, the land had to be flattened a bit. The new entrance will be much larger than the original. The biggest change we will make to the front is that instead of having a porch in the front, a new one will be built off the back. The new addition is going up nicely. We have built a much fancier staircase leading up to the entrance. The second story addition is going up with no problems as well. Next, the third floor will be completely torn off. The roof goes down... And now, the front wall on the third floor has been ripped off. And now, the third floor is gone. Here in the back, the ground will need to be leveled quite a bit to make room for a new addition, a porch/deck, and a greenhouse. This back half of the house is being torn off. It will be on this part of the house that the porch/deck will be built. The back additions can now begin! The hole has been dug for the new addition and the greenhouse. The foundation here is in now, and so is the lowever level of the greenhouse. After placing in the greenhouse base, we have smoothed out the terrain some. The base for the porch/deck has been added, the second level of the greenhouse and the back of the kitchen have been built, and the bay window off the side of the house have been taken down The last of the external construction is complete with the roofing Now it's time to focus on the interior of the house. Downstairs, the old interior walls have been torn out. In the greenhouse, an upstairs area has been added for a sunroom, and a staircase has been built leading down to the lower level. Work on the lower level has been moving along as well. Here is the first floor from the top view. In the back by the greenhouse will be the kitchen. By the porch/deck will be the living room. A small bathroom will be added near the entrance, and a dining room will also be near the front of the house and by the kitchen. Here's what the new layout downstairs will look like. A staircase will be built in the living room leading to the second floor. Here's the gutted upstairs. The master bedroom and bathroom will be in the front of the house. By the greenhouse will be a small office, and some small rooms will be built on that side as well. Here's what the upstairs layout looks like. With some new windows in and a new door in, the entrance is starting to really take shape. The kitchen is progressing nicely as well. All the counters and appliances have been installed. There's enough room for a small table and some chairs. Back outside, the deck has been finished up. While the porch was being finished, other crew members worked on laying down the carpeting in the living room. In the entrance, the wood flooring has been laid as well as some nice stone tiles. The same wood floor has been laid down in the dining room... ...and an easy to clean linoleum floor has been laid down in the kitchen. Everything is moving along nicely. Upstairs, the rest of the flooring has been laid. The same wood floor has been used in the upstairs hallway. A nice plain color with a border around the top has been used in the entrance. It makes the house feel very warm and welcoming to visitors. Because we're running short on time, we're going to show how the rest of the interior turned out. Starting with the entrance, it has been furnished with a couple of nice plants, a cupboard at one end, and a coat rack at the other, and a nice statue in the center. Next the living room. There's plenty of space for children to play and some nice art in here as well. Over to the kitchen, some barstools have been placed on around the island, and a small table and chairs have been placed in the corner. The formal dining room has been furnished with a nice bench along one wall, a fancy table and some paintings. The upper level of the greenhouse has been furnished with a couple of benches, and plenty of plants along the railing. On the lower level of the greenhouse, another bench and some plants have been placed around the room. Back in the house and upstairs, here is the finished master bedroom. Well in the back is a nice, hand-made vanity stand. The finished master bathroom. We'll let Zach and Roxanne figure out exactly what they want to put in this room. Over to the office, there is a nice, comfy sofa in here to read, and a new computer for Zach and Roxanne. There are some bookcases too filled with plenty of books. Here is one of the bedrooms. It's empty for now since Zach and Roxanne don't have any children yet. We'll let them decide what they want to do with it for now. And lastly, the upstairs bathroom. We used a shower/tub comobo in here instead of just a shower. With the interior complete, all that is left is the landscaping. Around the foundation of the house, a nice deep red brick wall has been installed. As for the exterior walls, these are the five choices. The most likely choice will be the scallop shingles. After experimenting with the scallop shingles, we have decided that this type of siding doesn't fit the style of the house. Here we try another type of siding. This will be the siding that we will use. That looks great! Now it's time to landscape! We're going to start by smoothing out this hill and lowering it. By lowering the ground, it has made a huge improvement in the overall appearence of the lot. The rest of the yard has been lowered and smoothed out. After adding in some pavement leading to the house, some new trees have been planted. The last task is to plant some new grass, and then this Extreme Sim Homemakeover is finally complete! And with some grass, everything is now done. This once creepy mansion is now a warm and comfy home ready for a family. Let's see how Zach and Roxanne like their new home! Roxanne: This is just absolutely amazing! I can't believe how well this house turned out!

Zach: I just love it! We got everything we wanted! I can't wait to get started on the garden!
About six months later, we go back and check to see how Zach and Roxanne are enjoying their new home. When we visit Roxanne and Zach, we learn they are expecting their first child. They love their new house, and have thrown a few parties in it.

That's it for this episode of Extreme Sim Homemakeover. I hope you enjoyed this very long episode, and happy simming!
