As always, please leave comments and rate (don't forget that I'm not a native speaker) and have fun reading :)
*It can be that some ? appear instead of other punctuation marks. In this case, I'm sorry and apologize for it* "Say it again." Aiden whispered, his arm lying around Hannah's slim body and enjoying the nearness to her.
"I love you." Hannah replied with a smiling face.
There wasn't much to say more and they savored their first common moments for a long time, lying in each other's arms, feeling the total trust of the other.
"I'm going to my flat later and get my things, ok?" Hannah interrupted the silence a bit later.
"You know that you don't have to do that if you don't want to." Aiden meant and sat up. "I could understand it if you still have feelings for James, so that you don't want to..." his voice broke and his eyes showed anxiety and apprehensiveness suddenly.
"What are you worrying about?" Hannah wanted to know and straightened up as well. "Do you think I'm still in love with James? He lied to me. He deceived me. Why should I still love him or even care about him?" She paused shortly and anger flared up in her eyes. "I want no truck with him anymore." A beatific, beautiful smile fitted over Aiden's face as he backed again Hannah to kiss her softly. In the same moment the sun rose and the bright, shiny sunbeams lighted up the room; it seemed like it would be a wonderful day. But there was much that could happen until the sun would go down again.
_________________________________________ Kayla walked slowly over the forest soil and approached with every single step a bit closer to her new place of work. She hadn't been here for some years - eleven or twelve maybe - and it seemed like nothing had changed much. The building was still more a ruin than an edifice and the nature had already started to recapture its space that the humans had taken a long time ago. The door creaked in its hinges as Kayla entered. She stopped shortly and glanced at her new empire, and she didn't need long to detect the Book of the Families between the other volumes.
She began being curious again and the questions why Eric treated his own son that badly and why he acted so strangely if the topics "Aiden" or "family" got addressed. Kayla smirked; the answers for all her questions were only some meters away.
Kayla's inquisitiveness increased with every inch she came nearer to the Book of the Families that was laying on left stone table, waiting for her to set the secrets of the family free. There was nothing to hear except the quiet noises her shoes made on the stone floor as the vampire made the last steps. Finally Kayla arrived in front of the Book of the Families and her hands trembled as she started searching for the family tree of the Davis. She turned over the antique pages as fast as she could, looked for a table of contents, but couldn't find anyone. Her eyes scanned the lines for something important until she found the right pages about the Davis family ultimately. Kayla's eyes got wide as she read through the words that were written down. The thin lines of the family tree that connected every member with each other, the names that belonged to these lines, the secret that Eric had harbored all the time, everything lay in front of her and told her, what Eric had done.
A sacrilege.
_________________________________________ "Damn!" Eric's hands touched the wooden stairs he had noticed to late and had brought him to fall down. The marks of earlier falls already branded his face, but it was no wonder he was falling down again and again without his white cane he had forgotten hotfoot. The panic had increased with every second he had been at home, doing nothing, so he had decided to go to Kayla and talk with her. Maybe he could do something so she wouldn't publicize what he had done. As by a wonder Eric managed it to access the building without any more accidents. The first thing he noticed was the smell of water, somewhere close to him. Slowly and carefully he made one step after another, his hands outstretched to find any obstacles.
He knew Kayla was here, he could hear her breathing, short, excited gasps.
"Kayla?" "Not again!" Eric snarled in thoughts as his feet hit the first step that leaded to the heightened part of the room.
"Eric?" Kayla asked disbelieving and turned around surprised. "Are you crazy? Did you get here alone?" Kayla hurried to the blind vampire that already stood up again, but said no word and didn't offer him help.
"I want to talk with you." Eric meant after he stood again.
"And I can imagine what you want to talk about." Kayla replied without trying to hide the aggresive and angry tone in her voice. "You tricked everyone, you fooled everyone Eric! I want an explanation for this! All the years I thought that Aiden isn't your son because you hate him that much, because you forbid him everything. You adjudged him to be not worth to be called a vampire, because he is afraid of Noir. And now this." Kayla pointed at the Book of Families although Eric couldn't see that. He simply stood in front of her, eyes closed, slouchy, saying any words.
"Your wife was Adele, so who is she?" Kayla asked.
"WHO IS MARIE SMITH???"
________________________________________ Aiden's Audi drove slowly through the streets of Hannah's neighborhood. Both were in a fraught mood, that didn't get better as they arrived in front of Hannah's apartment house.
It was beautiful outside, the golden sunbeams lightened up everything around them and the nature was dressed with its most colorful dress, but still, they couldn't relax.
"Do you really want to go inside alone?" Aiden wanted to know for the hundreds of times.
"Yes, I do. This is a thing between James and me; I have to finish it alone." Hannah answered and her eyes glanced to the windows of her flat. "Maybe he isn't even here."
"He could hurt you."
"He will never do. He loves me."
"I'm just solicitous." Aiden meant and leaned over to kiss her.
"I know." Hannah whispered as their lips parted again and the vampire released her from his hug.
"I'm going to hurry up, I just get my things. I won't need long."
_________________________________________ James emerged from behind the curtain again as he was sure neither Hannah nor Aiden were looking still at his direction. He was exited and exhilarated and his long fangs pressed trembling against the gums as he thought at the early bite.
James's eyes followed Hannah leaving the car and going to the front door.
Suddenly feelings of guilt rose in him again and for one second he thought about not to do it. Not to bite Hannah, not to turn her into a vampire.
And one moment later these feelings were gone again, and the possessive part in him prevailed again. Should she hate him, he wouldn't care as long she would be his own. And the blood bond would make sure for that.
_________________________________________ Hannah dug into her wardrobe, trying to find the most important pieces of clothing she would need. She hadn't seen James as she had walked into her flat, but she also hadn't searched for him.
"There it is." She said to herself and fished a pair of trousers out of the shelf.
"What are you doing there, honey?" The deep voice of James surprised and startled Hannah so the pants slipped out of her hands again and felt down.
"James! You are here?"
"Looks like it."
Both started starring at each other, saying nothing.
"So you are going to him?" James asked, but it sounded more like an ascertainment.
"Why are you asking if you already know the answer, James?" Hannah retorted. "It's your own fault. You lied to me. And not even once or twice. You had known that Aiden and I were lovers."
James expressions - that had been sad and sorry first - changed suddenly. His eyes got to slender slits, he pressed his lips together and his complete body language altered from incommunicative to aggressive.
Hannah gazed at James's hands. From one second to another he had tensed up his fingers and straddled apart the individual digits so his hands looked more like the claws of a wild animal than a normal part of a human body.
"Where was the problem?" James snarled with low voice, lowering his head. "You couldn't remember Aiden and Aiden was thousands of miles away."
Hannah made a step back unknowingly. She had never seen James this way before and it scared her to see him this way. Her heart began throbbing faster and faster as she observed the vampire.
"What are going to do, James?" Hannah whispered and her whole body started shaking. "James?"
"You know the stories about vampires, don't you Hannah?" James wanted to know sibilantly and lowered at her. "These monsters that bite and kill humans, who die if they are exposed to sunlight... we vampires use medicines so we can live normal humans and don't have to do these things..."
"What do you want to tell me with that?" Hannah's question was a strangled whisper.
James didn't answer, but Hannah could see that he had tensed up every muscle in his whole body. The tiniest human part in him was gone and even the least move he made looked like a very deliberate movement of an irrepressible beast. A beast that was ready to savage.
"I will make you dependent on me, that's what I will do."
"What do you mean?" Hannah asked trying to hide her voice was on the verge of failing. Her wide open eyes followed the vampire and she shrunk away as he moved suddenly.
"I will bite you. And then you will be mine." James replied and took a short run before jumping.
"It won't hurt much, my love, I promise." James pledged as he grabbed Hannah, who couldn't speak for the fear she felt suddenly. James's fingers closed about her slim upper arms and pressed her down with a strength that was daunting and decuman. "No..." Hannah started struggling, but James held her like in a cage, let her no space to escape. His face with his shiny, long teeth was only some inches away from Hannah's throat.
"I'll do it gently. You don't have to be afraid." The vampire meant and a second later the ends of his fangs touched Hannah's skin.
__________________________________________ Aiden was still waiting in his car as the smell of blood tickled in his nose suddenly. His eyes gaped.
"Hannah!" With less fast moves he opened the door, left the Audi and banged the door again.
The smell got stronger as Aiden approached to Hannah's flat. He damned himself that he had allowed Hannah to go inside alone as he entered the building.
His fear that something bad had happened to Hannah grew as he rushed through the flat, following the bloody smell that hanged in the air.
"Hannah?!" Aiden yelled as he opened the bedroom where the smell came from, but he got no answer.
Aiden's blood ran cold.
Hannah leaned resisting weakly against James, who was holding her tightly. Her eyes met Aiden's ones for a tiny moment and the feeling he got as the discovered the pain and the immense fear in them was indescribable - it was stronger than hate or rage; he was in a blind fury.
"Relinquish your hold on her, James. Right now." It didn?t sound like Aiden's voice that came out of his mouth, it was colder - gelid. And really, James released Hannah, but pushed her behind him fast. Then he turned around, his eyes sparkling raged. On his right cheek four long scratches strung together and little blood drops on his skin showed that they were pretty deep. "And I thought Hannah was wounded." Aiden said with an incisive tone, but he admired Hannah for her bravery to dig her fingernails into James?s face to defend herself.
"Get lost, if you don't want me to explode James." He ordered, but James didn't budge. At first.
Like in slow-motion he saw how James turned round and locked Hannah in his arms. Aiden could hear James talking in a whisper to her and he noticed how his face got a vacant and sad expression after some moments.
"You love Hannah. You said you would never leave me!" James murmured into Hannah's ears, but she shook her head.
"That was before I knew you lied to me all the time." Aiden rushed up to the vampire who was holding his girl and seized James at his shoulders so he could drag him to the ground. James roared out loudly but as he saw the fire in Aiden?s eyes he pulled himself together, jumped on his feet, dodged Aiden's blow deftly and flounced out of the room. Aiden didn't follow him as he was gone, but helped Hannah to rebound. Her eyes were filled with tears as he wrapped his arms around her trembling body and tried to calm her down with whispered words. Aiden closed his eyes, eased that Hannah wasn't hurt - or bitten. "Everything alright again?" Aiden queried and although Hannah nodded he knew she was still shocked that her ex-boyfriend had tried to bite her and to turn her into a vampire.
Aiden gave Hannah a very gently kiss. "We need to go. I have to find this guy before he does something that's even more worse." Aiden leaded Hannah outside to his Audi, gave her the keys and watched until she sat in the car. He nodded at her smiling and she answered waving her hand shortly, then she switched on the engine and accelerated. Aiden turned around and started going fast to the direction which James had chosen. The unique smell of James's blood was stated in his nose and the only thing what he had to do now, was following it. His anger escalated to hate and detestation as the thought about again, what nearly had happened to Hannah. This time he wouldn't let him escape. This time James would have to pay for everything.
_________________________________________ Eric took a deep breath and then he began telling his story.
"Something about 200 years ago my father died and I got the head of the family and because I wanted to strengthen the relation with another family, I married Adele, the daughter of the patriarch of this family. She was a beautiful vampire and fulfilled all conditions I had for my wife and so I was confident with her." "It didn't need long until she felt in love with me, and because she was a good wife and I didn't want to raise a problem by neglecting her, I acted the perfect husband she had always wished. But after some time she started to bore me. Then I met her." "Marie Smith. She was neither a vampire nor noble, but I started visiting and inviting her increasingly and after a short time I noticed I had fallen in love with her. She knew everything about me, and even the fact that I am a vampire didn't scare her." "You can say I was addicted to her and did everything to make her smile. And I thought she would do the same, but I had erred.
After some months she got pregnant by me and gave birth to our child. I think these days were the happiest one in my entire live." "Some days after the birth Marie told me she was engaged and this news were a shock for me. Not only she had kept this a secret for a long time and had lied to me, she would leave the city as well. And because her fiancé didn't know about her illegitimate child, she asked me to take the child and raise it. 'I know Adele will be a good mother' she said. And after an endless controversy I took the kid and left his crying mother. I saw her never again." "But every time I looked at our child, I saw Marie's face and for this I started hating this child. Adele didn't care that the boy wasn't her own kid, and since she couldn't get pregnant she loved the boy like her own and told everyone, it was hers. Luckily the child looked more like a vampire as a human, but then I discovered his fear of Noir and I disdained and disprized him from now on even more..." Kayla couldn't believe what Eric had told. "And because you can't forget your old lover and Aiden reminds you of her, you hate him that much?" She waited for an answer but got no one. "You know what will happen if I tell this. You will be the one who will get disdained and disprized now! They will unseat and unfrock you; you will disgrace your family. You told everyone that Aiden is yours and Adele's son!" Kayla started going to the door and Eric turned around as he heard her feet steps on the floor.
"Where are you going to?" He wanted to know, unable to hide the fear in his voice.
"To the first pureblood who runs into me! What did you think?" She replied.
"Wait Kayla! What can I do so you don't tell the others what I did? Tell me, what can I do?" Eric pleaded and Kayla jerked to a stop. She started grinning.
"Well, there is a thing you could do, Eric, but I guess you won't like it." Kayla meant smirking.
"What?"
Kayla turned around and faced Eric again. "Let's trade our duties, Eric." she said and enjoyed it as Eric winced.
"What do you mean?" He wanted to know, although he knew exactly what Kayla meant.
"I mean let's switch our functions. I assign you my job as the custodian of the Book of Families; in return you forward me your item as head of the family and the item as president of your company."
"Never!" Eric retorted, trembling with anger.
"It's your decision." Kayla meant. "Well then, I'm going now - "
"That is what you have wanted for a long time, haven't you?" Eric snarled breathing hard. "You will get what you want." His blind eyes couldn't see Kayla, but he could imagine that she was grinning perfectly satisfied now. "As long as you swear and vow that you will never ever tell anybody about this. Not even Aiden." He postulated.
"Sure." Kayla reciprocated laughing. "Why not?"
_________________________________________ Aiden knew the place where the smell of James's blood had leaded him to. He knew it very well.
It was the place where he had met Hannah for the first time; it was the place where he - and James - had shielded her and her sister from a ravenous vampire. In his mind's eye he saw the whole scene again, like it had happened yesterday.
Aiden sprinted farther and stopped as he lost the odor of James's blood suddenly. The offensive smell that came from the garbage cans and the rubbish that was lying around them covered James's spoor. With an angry sigh he observed his adjacencies, trying to find a movement and hoping to notice a sudden noise that would reveal where James was. But Aiden wasn't lucky.
Slowly he paced out the whole yard, sniffing in the air attentively and the eyes closed, only concentrating on what he was scenting. It didn't need long until he felt it tickling in his nose and he opened his eyes again. He knew it was blood he smelled.
"Great." Aiden cursed as he saw where the smell was leading him to: An old, rusty stair.
The timeworn steps creaked alarmingly as the vampire rushed up the stairs taking several steps in time. But he didn't care and moved on even faster, pushed by his hate and odium.
Before he had climbed up the next stairs he threw a glance at the others over him and Aiden smirked as he identified James. Only some meters above his head the vampire's steps made the stairs jarring and because of the knowledge his adversary was that close to him, Aiden quickened his pace again. He had lost track of James as he had arrived at the top of the building. There were only some more meters and then Aiden reached the end of the stairs, scanning the area for the other vampire right away. He wanted to be prepared for a sudden attack, but it came none. Finally Aiden noticed James standing at the fence that surrounded the whole roof. He didn't like the relaxed way James stood there; it seemed like he was enjoying the sun and sunbathing. Aiden came nearer, but James neither turned around, nor made the least movement that showed he knew Aiden was only some meters behind him. "You don't have to tiptoe." James meant and turned his head a bit in Aiden's direction.
"If you say so." Aiden approached, confused by the calm disposition of the other vampire.
"To tell the truth, I'm waiting for your attack Aiden." James said smiling and turned around even more. "Even if it doesn't matter anymore."
Aiden nodded. "Once you said something that's true." "I believe you don't mean the same thing that I do." James supposed and Aiden perceived now, what he was really meaning. A little, black cloud of dust came off James's skin and started concentrating around his body. Aiden watched this process speechless for some short moments and the longer he did, the faster the cloud grew.
"You didn't take the medicine, did you?" Aiden wanted to know and his hand grasped the little can in his trouser pocket he always took with him. The medicine inside were SSGB-tablets - sun, silver and garlic blocker that make vampires immune to these things that were the most dangerous for vampires, so they don?t die if they are exposed to these.
"I didn't take it since yesterday, since I knew Hannah and you were a couple again. I wanted to take one after a successful transformation of Hannah, but now..." James looked at Aiden in a way he couldn?t interpret; it was a mix of a sad smile, a venomous look and a vacant expression.
"You will die." Aiden said and the only answer he got was another look, he couldn't construe as well.
"I don't care anymore." James replied, feeling he was disintegrating more and more into little pieces of dust, burned by the sun. "Hannah was all the world to me and I lost her. I give up." Aiden left James, and didn't look behind once. It was James's own decision to do this, and he wouldn't keep him of it. James could hear Aiden's steps for some moments and then the black, dusty cloud of ash took him all hearing, ability to see and motility.
Some moments later, the place where James had stood was empty. Only some dark specks of dust remained on the floor, but even those got lifted by a gust soon and started twirling around in the air, flying there eternally.
_________________________________________ ...some years later... "Say 'daddy', Lara. Say 'daddy'!"
"Mom - my!"
Hannah had to laugh as her little daughter started doing it again. "Not 'mommy', Lara, 'daddy'!" Hannah repeated slowly.
"Mom - my!" "I'm sure you're going to learn it. What should say your daddy if you only can say mommy?" Hannah meant smiling brightly as she sat down her little, giggling child on the floor. Once there, Lara began crawling around immediately, scurrying around faster and faster, just stopping once for trying to bite into the striped carpet. "Mum, look!"
Hannah made one step back to make room for her son, who suddenly run down the stairs and did a cartwheel, once he had arrived downstairs. The little Lara watched her older brother interested and giggled enthusiastic after he had finished.
"Was that good?" Leon wanted to know from his mother. "I exercised it all the time!"
"It was good, very good actually!" Hannah answered smiling and the joy she saw in the eyes of her oldest child made her happy as well.
Leon's eyes glanced outside. "Dad is here again!" He said happy and run to the house door to open it for his father. Hannah watched her son smiling brightly as he greeted Aiden gustily and gave him a hug. "Hello honey." Aiden greeted his wife with a charming smile as soon as his son had stopped wrapping his arms around his waist, and seeing the happiness in Hannah's eyes, was the best answer he could get.
"How was work?" She wanted to know and approached to him.
"The same usual stuff like yesterday." Aiden replied, giving her a soft kiss and embraced her. "Oh, and Kayla called me and asked me if our offer is still good."
"Of course it is!" Hannah meant laughing. "We haven't seen her for such a long time and I would love to have a dinner with her. You didn't disinvite her, did you?"
"What do you think, what the daddy did?" Aiden asked impish and grinned at his wife.
"Dad - dy." The sudden noise behind them got Aiden and Hannah to turn around. Their little daughter sat on the floor, waggling with her little arms and looking at both.
"Dad - dy." Lara babbled again and started giggling as her parents rushed to her totally excited. Watching their pleasantly surprised faces she seesawed herself from left to right slowly and smiled at her parents.
"Mom - my. Dad - dy."
For Aiden and Hannah it was like a gate was pushed open, so they could enter another part of their own, little paradise.
The ending That was it! :D Thank you for reading NOIR, I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it! I don't know when I'm going to make my next story, but my mind is already full of new ideas, so you can look forward the next one :)

I can't believe it's already the end of this story! I enjoyed it so much. I believe that the story about Aiden's parents is very lovely and it explains a lot about Aiden's and Eric's relationship. I was very sad about James, though. But I should have expected an ending like that for him
The ending with Hannah and Aiden was totally cute! I loved their children! I mean, Lara looks just like Hannah, only with Aiden's eyes and Leon looks like his dad, only with his mother's eyes.
All in all, thank you for posting this brilliant story, which I enjoyed throughout.

Your shots are astonishing. Polished, perfect, and apart from the technical mastery, you have such a creative eye. I loved every single one of them!
The encounter between James and Aiden broke my heart. Your writing is wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Phenomenal work of art!!!

That was a great ending! I love how Aiden got his girl back and they lived happily ever after. And they had two very beautiful children! That's too bad about James. I felt sorry for him in the end. He gave up on life too easily. He should have stuck around. He could have been the kids' godfather or an uncle. Surely, there was a right girl out there somewhere for him! Did he ever even think about maybe Hannah's sister? Lol! And Aiden's father got off too lightly for all the trouble he caused. Life is often unfair, though. Great story, Sweet Charming! I hope you write many, many more good stories like this one!!!

Omg! Omg! The perfect ending! Although I have to admit, it would've been nice to see Eric and how he was doing. As well as see who Kayla was dating. But it was beautiful! Such a wonderful story~ The only question I have is: Where on earth did you get that Mario plushie in the shot 8th from the end??
Please write more!
