*Thanks to the "5th Muse" for the great brushes!* "Are you alright?" Aiden asked Hannah during they went through corridors, on the way to Aiden's father.
Hannah nodded slightly and some strands felt into her face. She still saw her sister in this room, she was sure that she would never forget this picture.
"Okay, then let's go a bit faster, my father is waiting." Aiden added softly. Both went out of an elevator and followed the hall until the came to a door on the left side of the corridor.
"This is my room" Aiden told Hannah and pushed down the handle. "Please wait here until I'm back." he opened the door and released the look at the big room behind. "This is your room? You are kidding?" Hannah meant as she stepped inside. Her eyes glanced about everything, trying to see all at once.
"I'm sorry to disapoint you, but it's my own room." Aiden answered smiling and observed how excited Hannah looked around. "This room is five times bigger than my one! It's even bigger than our living room at home! And these furniture! Your room is awesome!" Hannah couldn't stop marveling about this room. Suddenly Aiden looked afflicted after Hannah had said this. "I don't think that this room is awesome." he said quietly and starred on the floor so he hadn't to see Hannah, who was looking at him as he would be a complete idiot. "But I'm glad that you like it."
Then he turned around and went to the door again.
"Aiden? Did I say something wrong?" Hannah asked him carefully, wondering what she had said wrong. But Aiden didn't answer anything, he opened the door, went out of the room and left Hannah alone. Aiden went slowly to the next door at the hallway, knocked and opened it quietly. It has been over a week since he has seen his father the last time, and he didn't want to see him now again.
"It's me, father. You have asked for me?" Aiden said and stepped hestiatly to his father. "You are late." was the only thing he got as an answer and the cold tone of these three words took nearly his breath away. "I want to tell you something and you should better do not interrupt me and better listen." And then Aiden's father began to talk.
__________________________________________ Hannah stood some moments in the room, unable to decide what she should do now.
"Heelloo." suddenly someone croaked behind her, so Hannah turned around surprised. Then she noticed the bird, that sat on a pole next to the door.
"Oh, how cute you are!" She told the animal and began to stroke over its feathers "Can you say something diferent than 'hello'?" She asked the bird and that began to scurry from the left end of the pole to the right end.
"Doesn't matter if you can't, 'hello' is enough" Hannah decided and continued stroking. "If I would be you, I would stop. It bites." James stood behind her from one second to one other and watched her.
Surprised Hannah turned around. She hadn't hear him coming, but like he leaned against the door frame, it looked like he would do it already some time.
"Does it? Well, it seems to be tame!" Hannah replied, but stopped stroking the pet. "What's its name?" she added interested. "Bird." James answered.
"Bird? Aiden calls his bird 'Bird'? Are you trying to fool me?" Hannah replied, unable to believe that. Who would give his bird the name 'Bird'?
"You can believe me, I'm not kidding. He has it since his 125. birthday and because he didn't know to call it, he called it 'Bird' finally." the vampire explained.
Hannah starred at James. "Did you say 125. birthday? How old is Aiden?"
"He isn't as young as he looks, he's 196 years old, I think." James said and as he said how dumbfownded Hannah googled at him, he laughted and continued: "You have to know 10 years of a vampire count like one year of a human." "And I'm only 204 years old, so if I would be a human, I would be only 20." He told her and began to go in flirtation position. "How old are you, did you say?"
"I didn't tell you how old I'm and you shouldn't care about it, because I won't tell you anyway." Hannah replied, went one step away from James and avoided to look into his smiling face.
"Okay I leave you in piece." James promised grinning.
"Would be nice." Hannah meant when her come a question to her mind. "Can I ask you something?" she said to James, who sat down on the sofa like it would be his. "Sure you can." he affirmed.
"Why is everyone here, the receptionists, the guy from the hall a while ago and you, why is everyone so polite to Aiden? You said that he is younger than you, but why do you everything he orders you?" Hannah wanted to know, the questions really streamed out of her mouth.
James leaned a bit back, then he waved his hand to show Hannah that she should take a seat. "I explain it." He said after afterwards. Hannah sat down next to James, but she made sure that she had some safe distance to the vampire, so he wouldn't try flirting with her again.
"So why are you so polite to him?" Hannah asked another time.
"He is a pureblood." James began to explain. "That means he is a member of one of the oldest aristorcratic vampire families that still exist. This means consequently also that his blood his pure, there is no one in his family tree, who isn't a pureblood." James made a short break, so Hannah could think about what he had said.
"And only because he is a pureblood, everyone follows him like a little doggy?" Hannah replied.
"All in all, yes." James nodded. "Purebloods are very rare, most of the old families give up their principles and married into 'normal' vampire families."
"Eh, but what are 'normal' vampire families?" Hannah interrupted James.
"Well, how can I explain that the best way..." he wondered shortly, then he began to speak again. "A 'normal' vampire family is like my family. My grandfather was human first, but then he was bitten by a vampire and turned into one, then he married another vampire, my grandma, who was bitten, too. So the 'normal' families have no noble family tree, and have only the function of the rank and file, if you want to name it so."
"But why do you acquiesce that? We don't live in the Middle Ages anymore!" Hannah interjected.
"But it's safer for us. Each pureblood family has some 'normal' familes that are subordinated to them. They take care for these and protect these against other families, they are hostile with." James added.
Hannah raised an eyebrow. "What they can't do alone" she meant ironic. "Nope, they can't, because they haven't the same abilities like purebloods." James said and suddenly laid his arm around Hannah's shoulder. "By the way, I know a great café, quiet near. If you feel like - "
"No, thanks!" Hannah cut him off fast and tried to escape from his hug. "I don't feel like it."
"Really?" James asked again. "They have the best ice cream in the whole city!" "Stop flirting, James, you aren't Casanova. And she is too young for you anyway. So hands off!" Aiden suddenly stood in the room again.
"Like you wish, Mister." James meant and took his arm away.
"Hannah, my father wants to speak with you, too. Is that okay?" Aiden asked her and she nodded.
As she stood up, he told her: "It's the next door on the corridor." Hannah went out, leaving the two boys in the room.
Aiden waited until Hannah was out of hearing, then he shoked his head. "You are not going to learn it, are you?"
"I believe, I don't know what you mean." James replied, although he knew exactly what Aiden meant.
"Never mind" Aiden muttered as something came to his mind. He spinned, followed Hannah as fast as he could and left a puzzled James.
"Where did he go so all of sudden?" he asked the empty room. "Wait Hannah!" Aiden yelled after her. She began to walk slower, but didn't stopped walking on.
"Wait a second!" Aiden asked her to do and grapped Hannah's hand to stop her. "I have to tell you something about my father."
"What is it?" Hannah replied, she he no idea, what it could be. She felt how strong Aiden's fingers closed about hers and how the expression in his face changed. She suspected he didn't want her to see his father.
Aiden took a deep breath, the he looked deep in Hannah's eyes. Her pulse speeded up.
"He is blind."
___________________________________________ Hannah knocked against the door carefully, and after she heard a "yes" she opened the pitch dark door to and entered. "Mr Davis?" Hannah stuttered as she closed the door again. "My name is Hannah, I'm - "
"I know who you are. Hurry up and come here, I don't like it to speak with a person who is standing behind me."
"What a cold voice" Hannah thought nervous as the went hesitatly to the sofa where the voice had come from. She knew it at first sight that Aiden had told her the truth about his father. White, useless eyes starred into nowhere. He didn't closed his eyelids for one second, but he also didn't need to; his eyes were like a dead part of his body, and the cold they eradiated was unbelievable. The face of the vampire was like a mask, in his face was no room for emotions.
Then he began to talk, and the tone of his voice told Hannah she better shouldn't interrupt him. "You maybe wondered, why you are here, why you are allowed to see your sister and why you are allowed to know about us vampires." he made a short pause and in this pause he could hear, how Hannah's breathing went faster. She got excited and that was the proof for him that he was right. "The reason is simple: We need you. Or better expressed: Your sister needs you. The healing, that is necessary because the vampire wounded her, is linked with the change of her memories, so she can't remeber of anything. This change can have, because of the big physical stress she had before through the healing, serious consequences, so for example it can happen that her basis memories get changed. And because we want to inspect this, we need you." Hannah had thousends of questions flying around in her head, but she was sure that Aiden's father wouldn't continue if she would cut him off, so she left it.
"We must be sure that her basis memories are the same like before she and you got attacked. So after she is healed completly, and we changed her memories so she can't remember, we are going to ask her simple questions about her and her life. That is the moment, where we need you. You, as her sister, should know the most things about her. So if are sure that the answeres your sister gives are right, everything is alright. If they aren't, you and your sister have a big problem." "If you think the answers are correct, we change your memories and that of your mother, too. Nobody of you will remember of what had happened and no one will ever get the thought that something had happened. For you, vampires will be only an invention, and no real beings." He stopped shortly. "You will never see anyone you have met here again, neither one of the company, nor me, nor my son. Above all not my son."
___________________________________________ Aiden began playing with Bird, during he was waiting for Hannah. He was sure that his father would tell her the same like him and that he the only reason why he told him that seperatly, was to intimidate them.
He stroke gently over the soft feathers of his pet. "You got heavy, Bird." he found out as Bird hopped up his arm. "Maybe you should make a diet, what do you think?"
"Heelloo" The animal croaked as an answer and flew back to his pile.
"Alright, done deal." Aiden decided. He watched his bird for a while, but it didn't calm him down as usual, he was too troubled and couldn't relax. The door was opened slowly and Hannah went into his room. She looked scared, a bit confused and sad.
"Did you know that?" she whispered.
"If you mean that you will forget everything about this" Aiden said "then the answer is 'yes'. My father told it me before he told it you."
"I don't know why...but I don't want to forget this." Hannah meant and her eyes got a sad expression. Aiden didn't say a word, then he pulled Hannah gently to him and hugged her for a long time. His arms closed about her body and gave her the feeling of safety.
"I don't want either." Aiden susurrated into Hannah's ear.
They stood long in Aiden's room. Finally they ended the hug.
"Come on, let's go." Aiden said and both left the building. Aiden and Hannah walked fast out of the sky-scraper but after they had some distance to it, they slowed down. They began to talk about any stuff and so Hannah also told him about the café James had told about.
"Do you want to go eating ice cream?" Aiden wanted to know, but as he saw the huge anticipation in Hannah's face, he had to laugh and grapped her hand. "Alright then let go!"
________________________________________ After Hannah was gone, Eric walked slowly to the black grand piano in the room. Carefully he searched the stool in front of it and after he had found it, he sat down.
His fingers began to glide over the keyboard and the first tones sounded. His hands knew, where every single note was placed, and Eric played without one mistake. He didn't need his eyes for playing. Everytime he sat on this stool, it was like he would melt into the instrument. Steps. Eric thought right away as he heard the quiet sounds of little shoes, walking on the floor.
"Hello Kayla" he greeted the young girl that went to him. "You are playing beautifully." Kayla noticed smiling and watched how fast Eric's fingers moved. "The piano piece is great."
"What do you want, Kayla?" Eric replied, ignoring what she had said. "You have never been interested in this kind of music. What is it what you want to talk about?" He had always liked the little girl, who was his niece. She was intelligent, talented and proud that she was a pureblood.
Eric heard Kayla taking a deep breath, and then she said: "Aiden." "What is with him?" Eric asked Kayla, although he wasn't very interested to talk about his son. His fingers continued dancing and he chiseled the notes into the keyboard of the piano with terrific might.
"He is still afraid of it, isn't he?" Kayla wanted to know.
Eric's fingers freezed over the keyboad. "Where do you know that from?"
"Is that important? I know it, and that is everything what counts." Kayla replied. "I also know, what you have done to him as he was a child." "And where is the problem?" Eric pushed the stool back so he could stand up.
"I just want to know, if you regret that."
Eric stood next to the grand piano for some moments and his useless eyes starred into nothing. "I don't regeret anything. I tried to help him, but he didn't want to accept it. And because of this, he has always been a shame for the purebloods, he still is a shame, and will be one forever."
__________________________________________ Hannah and Aiden arrived finally in a café that had a big number of ice cream sorts so they decided to go in. It was a wonderful day in summer, neither too hot nor too cold and the sun was shining brightly. Both sat down on one of the tables that stood outside and ordered. "That looks yummy!" Hannah said as the got the ice cream. Aiden only smilied and began eating and gave no comment on Hannah, who was smiling all over her face and then she turned it out onto the plate.
After some bites and more told passions about her favourite food, she looked at Aiden. "Aiden, I have a question because of ..." she stopped shortly as she noticed that Aiden interrupted eating.
"Ask" he meant and put his spoon down.
"Well...it's about your room. Do you remember? You told me you wouldn't like it, but why?" "It just because I can't understand why you don't like your room. I really liked it, above all because of the kind how it is furnished." Hannah added. But after she had finished she could see how Aiden's body language and the expression in his face changed. The light heartedness was gone. "Is that really so important?" Aiden inquiered. "I don't want to talk about if it isn't really necessary."
Hannah worried about the violability that was suddenly in Aiden's eyes. "No, if you don't want, it is okay." She replied gently. "It's not because of you, you have to know." Aiden assured and laid his hand over Hannah's that had laid on the table. He pressed it softly.
Hannah felt that she got butterflies in her stomach as Aiden hold her hand and she blushed. And then the moment was over as fast as it had came.
After they had payed and left the café, Aiden stopped walking after some meters suddenly.
"Mh...Aiden?" Hannah nudged Aiden's arm. "What do you have?"
"Give me one minute, okay?" he only replied and looked up to the sun.
Hannah stared at the vampire, how was craning his neck to look at the sky.
"Aiden? Hello, Aiden?" Hannah repeated and punched him one more time, but harder than the first time. "Earth to Aiden? Are you still here?" Hannah fidgeted with her hand in front of Aiden's face.
"I love the sun." Aiden said suddenly, more to himself than to Hannah.
"Well...Aiden, you still know that you are a vampire right?" "Of course I know, but I've always ... loved the sun and brightness" He explained smiling. The warm shine made him feel well. "I've never liked the darkness."
"Shouldn't it be reverted?" Hannah meant confused, but she waited in vain for an answer. "I really begin to believe that you are a bit strange, Aiden." Hannah told him grinning as they began to walk on.
"That's the biggest compliment I've ever got." he replied laughing.
"You don't get much ones, do you?"
"Of course I do."
"You are a bad liar."
_________________________________________ Back at home, after having dinner, and after her mother went out, Hannah took a hot shower. She needed it for thinking about everything what had happened today.
She was happy that her sister Cloe was alright all in all and that she would be total healed soon.
Also she realized how much she already liked Aiden. After her first fears he began to come important for her. She felt safe and happy if she was with him. And because of this, she didn't want to forget him again. She didn't want her memories changed, so she wouldn't remember at anything. Hannah went out of the shower and exactly in this moment, all lights went out.
"Oh damn, that can't be true." She groaned and fumbled for the switch. Finally she found it and pushed it, but nothing happened, the light didn't go on again.
"Great, a blackout. And how dry I my hair now?" she wondered angry. Finally she took a slide so her wet hair didn't fell in her face all the time. After she had done that, a shout braied through the house and cut through the silence like a sharp knife.
"Aiden?" Hannah whispered worried, unable to move. No other yells followed, but she was sure that something wasn't right. Fast she put on her pyjamas and ran to her sister's room, that Aiden would use during his stay. Hannah pushed the door to the room hardly so it banged against the wall and she entered. She knew right away that something wasn't alright.
Aiden squatted kneeing on the bed, his fingernails digged into the blanket, as he would want to cling on it and his eyes twitched fast around. He stammered something what she couldn't understand completly. "Oh my God, Aiden!" Hannah screamed and ran to him. In the meantime Aiden tried to sit up, but for some reason he couldn't, it was like his strengh had left his body.
"Damn 'noir'!" Aiden cursed and the pain in his face began mixing with anger.
"I don't know what you mean. What is 'noir'?" Hannah asked helpless and tried to help Aiden.
"What's around us, that is 'noir'!" he whispered and the pain in his face take over the lordship again, so for his anger was no room anymore. "Please explain it, Aiden! I don't know what you mean!" Hannah begged. "What is it, what you are so afraid of?"
"Noir." Aiden said and bared his snow white teeth, that were the only things in the room that were bright. "It seems like I really have to talk about it, if I want to overcome it."
Hannah could see in his eyes that he was scared like a little child. Like a child that wants to run away from something, but can't. Like he would be catched in a spider's web.
Aiden took a deep breath and began to explain. "I've always been afraid of the dark, the black and the darkness" Aiden told Hannah. 'Noir' means exactly these three words. The first vampires came from France, and they coined this phrase; 'noir' is the word that every vampire should vocalize with proud. My father wanted that I overcome my big fear, so as I was a kid he compassed me in a small, dark room. He thought if I only would be in there long enough, I would overcome my fear of 'noir'." "I remember exactly that I begged my father to let me out. I told him that I was afraid in the dark room. Today I know that this was the complete wrong sentence. "I love it here, lock the door and throw the key away" was the sentence my father wanted to hear. This was, what every vampire would say in such a room - every normal vampire would feel comfortable." "My words made my father angry. His world consists only of 'noir', he had never seen light. And for him it's nearly a luck. I know that he can't understand why I hate 'noir', why I can't feel snug in it." "I continued begging and because I didn't stop, my father began to shout at me. He called me a shame for all purebloods, he said that I don't deserve it, to be called a vampire and he told me that he regrets that I was born." "After my father had said this, I was shoked. He had never been very kind to me, but he had also never said such cruel things to me. After some time I heard that he walked away. Without saying anything more." "I beated against the door, I kicked it and I also jumped against it. The darkness made me crazy.
I only wanted to get out of this room, where "noir" seemed to gulp everything.
At the end I also scratched so long the door until my hands began to bleed." "Then I began to scream. I screamed so loudly that the echo was louder than my scream at the end. But I didn't stopped for a long time. I wanted to get out." "Finally I sat next to the door in a corner. I remember that I trembled all the time and that my hands grapped the cold stones of the floor, so I had always a proof that there was still a ground under me and no black hole that could raven me. I remember that I the darkness, the black around me nearly made me lose my mind." "Exhausted I leaned against the cold wall and I began to wait.
I waited for three days."

LOOONG story... but cool
Darn me, I didn't realize it earlier, which the second part is already here. With this story I have unfortunately to wait 'til the end again... so many questions... lol what will happen to the sis? What will happen with Aiden and Hannah... will they have a future? etc., etc. TOO long, but even great!

I can't wait to see what's next! (super Geschichte, danke. Und auch super geschrieben, kann sie genauso gut lesen wie die erste, da mein Englisch eher mangelhaft ist, brauche ich viel Zeit dafür, hat sich aber 100% gelohnt) Have a very nice Week. By Muccy (5.0)
