Last time in Annabelle's story...

"How very strange and secretive," I thought to myself. Marri got up and left the table, leaving me there with my thoughts. What secrets could Arthur have? Who is that strange woman?
I had trouble sleeping all night. I stayed up wondering what Arthur's secret or secrets could be. I realized I didn't really know my fiance at all. I even remembered all those lies he told me early on in our relationship. I heard Arthur's alarm go off at 5 am. I pretended to be asleep as he got ready for work. He kissed me goodbye before he left for work, and I spent the next hour in bed staring at the ceiling. I eventually got up and got dressed. I found it difficult, because my hands were shaking. "Whatever it is, I'm sure it's nothing too bad," I tried to reassure myself, "we'll work through this..." I said over and over to myself. I went downstairs, nervous as ever. Marri and John were eating breakfast. I sat with them in silence, unable to stomache any of Marri's delicious food. I just watched the clock, waiting to help Marri take John to school. Finally the time came and we left, walking quickly towards an impressively large building. Parents were out front dropping off their kids. Marri kissed John goodbye, and he gave me a wave before disappearing inside. I looked at Marri, waiting to hear Arthur's secret, but she just smiled and said, "We wait for few moments." And we stood there in silence, watching parents and children say goodbye to each other. Then I saw her, the woman from the tea cafe, the one who had argued with Arthur outside of his home. She had her two little girls in tow. I was mesmorized by her. I just stared until finally Marri spoke. "Her name is Lynn and she brings Sally and Suzie to nursery school."

"They're adorable," I couldn't help but remark.

"They're Arthur's girls."

I swore I misheard what she said, "Wait, you mean these are Arthur's daughters? But, how do you know?" I asked.
"Everybody know," Marri insisted, "and Lynn's my sister."

I was shocked. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Arthur never told me he had any kids! "But are you sure?" I asked in disbelief.
"There are more."

"You've got to be kidding!" I cried, my head spinning, "MORE kids?!?!"

Marri just looked at me with tears in her eyes, "John too."

I was speechless. But after I thought about it, I saw the resemblence in the eyes. These three kids all had blue eyes like Arthur. How could this be happening?
"Can I talk to her?" I asked Marri.

"She knows who you are. Lynn will talk to you when she ready."

I understood, but I was filled with so many questions. "Are there only three?" I asked already knowing the answer.
Marri shook her head no.

"How many?" I asked quietly.

"Four here, I think two away...Geneva...could be more."

It was too much to handle. I broke down in tears. All I could mutter was, "How could he do this...to you...Lynn...me..." For the first time I hated Arthur.
"He takes care of all of us. Thought you should know." Marri added.

"Is that where he's at right now? With another woman?"

Marri just nodded. "Arthur takes care of us all."

I felt betrayed and didn't know what to do. I obviously couldn't marry a man with six kids!
Marri and I walked back home without saying a word to each other. My head was filled with angry thoughts. I even wondered if Cecilia knew about this when she disapproved of Arthur and begged me not to marry him. I assumed she did and at that moment I hated my mother too. When we arrived home, I locked myself in Arthur's bedroom and cried. I had no intention of leaving the room until Arthur came home, when I would let him have it. Then I noticed the locked desk in the room. Curiousity got the better of me, so I went snooping for the key, which I conveniently found underneath the mattress. I wanted to see if Arthur had any other secrets.

Will Annabelle discover any other secrets? What will happen when Arthur returns home? The shocking confrontation in the next chapter!
