Hi there. Welcome to Part 3 of the PlumbBob Quest. Thanks for all your lovely comments. Hope you enjoy! "Ready?" Jasper asked excitedly. "Um, sure," I replied uncertainly. Jasper hurried towards the librarian's desk. "Excuse me, I was wondering if you could please help me. I'm looking for information about the chromosomal structure of artichokes." She smiled and motioned to one of the assistant librarians. "I'm sure one of my assistants can help you with that. Helga, could you please assist this young man?" "Oh! Oh, no, um," Jasper stammered desperately. "I... I need expert help on this." "I assure you Helga is a professional. She's quite capable." "But I... actually, there's something I need you to come and see. It's an emergency!" he exclaimed. "Why, what's wrong?" The librarian looked concerned but also fairly perplexed. "I think there's an infestation of booklice in the Romance section!" Jasper declared. "Oh my!" She jumped up immediately. The two of them hurried towards away to the Romance section on the second floor. The other assistants joined them, in their efforts to protect their most popular books. Seeing that the librarians were all distracted, I quickly hurried towards the desk. Discreetly, I leaned down and opened the drawer, hoping the key would be there. Success! In the far corner of the drawer, hidden under papers, was a small key that looked like it would fit the secret drawers. I slipped it into my pocket, grinning, and stood up. Then I inconspicuously strolled away again, pretending to nonchalantly examine some psychological thrillers. Finally Jasper and the librarians came back again. Jasper was saying apologetically, "I could have sworn I saw booklouse damage!" Then he saw me and walked over. "Did you get it?" he whispered. I nodded. We went back inside the Restricted Room. I put the key into the lock on the top drawer and, to my delight, it opened. The drawer was full of books. Quickly I opened the other drawers and found that they were filled with books, too. "This must be a kind of 'high-security' group of banned books," Jasper muttered, taking out some of the books and inspecting them. We searched through the drawer of 'extreme banned books'. After hunting through some very fascinating books I picked out one which looked particularly interesting. The title was "Controversial Physics Theories and Who Suggested Them". I opened the book eagerly. I looked down at the contents page and to my great joy, saw there was a chapter called "The Virtual Reality Theory... as suggested by Dr Brian Jenkins". "Jasper! I've found something!" I exclaimed. I quickly turned to the virtual reality chapter. Jasper and I began to read. The book contained a lot of information about the theory that our universe was a virtual reality, and there was also some information about Dr Brian Jenkins, who was a professor of physics at the Whitworth University. He had suggested this "implausible theory", as the book called it. The chapter also mentioned that Dr Brian Jenkins did his research and experiments with his two assistants, Dr Avalanche Quackenbush and Dr Ima Hogg, who were also professors at the University. "So we know what to do next," I said, grinning and getting very excited now that we'd finally made a breakthrough. "Maybe Brian Jenkins is still at the University." Jasper grinned, reading my mind. I had to distract the librarian while Jasper returned the key to its drawer. I had no idea what to do, so I simply walked up to her and said, reading the nameplate on her desk, "Um, you're Dorothea Maloney? There's a man outside who wants to talk to you." I didn't know what I expected to happen, but I sure didn't expect the librarian to jump up, crying, "Michael!" She ran outside, tears in her eyes, and Jasper returned the key. "What did you DO?" he asked, astounded. I shrugged, feeling guilty. Later, we went back to Jasper's house to use his computer. We found Whitworth University's website and clicked on 'Faculty'. Jasper and I looked at all the staff's names very closely, but there was no Brian Jenkins. "Oh well," I murmured and sighed in disappointment. We'd been so close! "Wait!" Jasper shushed me. "Look!" There on the 'Faculty' page was 'Dr Avalanche Quackenbush, Professor of Physics'. "What kind of a name is Avalanche Quackenbush, anyway?" I demanded. "And 'Ima Hogg'? Really?" "Never mind that now," Jasper replied. "Fancy a visit to the Whitworth University?" But it was getting late, so I had to go home. Before I left, Jasper told me that even though we were working, he'd had fun. Then he grinned again, like he always did. I turned red and said my mum would yell at me if I didn't get home soon. Without thinking, I hugged him and promised to meet up the next day to find Dr Quackenbush at the University.

~ End of Part 3 ~

Thanks for reading! Again thanks to Bailey Weggins (Mod the Sims) for the "Public Library". Next time find out what their meeting with Dr Quackenbush reveals... Hope you enjoyed it, Part 4 is coming soon!
