Part 4- enjoy!

Part 4- enjoy! When you were part of the Landgraab family you knew everything and everyone in Sunset Valley. You knew who was dating who, who was striking it rich and all the juicy affairs. When rumours apread about Sophie, Malcolm's fiancee, Harold Landgraab was the first to tell his son. Malcolm wasn't known for his charisma or his good looks and often relied on his father to organise everything for him. His father had even organised this engagement and now, here he was, telling him of Sophie's apparent betrayal. Malcolm fell to pieces, he'd been sure Sophie would be a good and loyal wife but now he was extremely self conscious- did she not want to marry him? Malcolm looked at his father pleadingly and Harold shook his head defiantly saying,

"I will sort this out, Sophie will be your wife."
Malcolm was relieved his father would speak to Sophie's family and everything would be ok again. However, Harold had other ideas that involved his son standing up for himself and showing he was the dominant male. Harold had explained his plan forcefully and Malcolm had nodded in agreement or rather obedience. He trusted his father and knew it would work but he worried he might crack and show how weak he was. When Sophie arrived an hour or so later, Malcolm's heart raced as he admired her beauty. He was lucky to be engaged to her, he knew that. Sure he was rich but she was beautiful, smart and charming.

"Hello Malcolm," Sophie smiled as she greeted him, "It is good to see you."
Malcolm led Sophie inside the house and asked her what she wanted to drink. He made an errand to let the butler know and headed back to Sophie.

"You look beautiful," he smiled at Sophie. Sophie smiled,

"Thank you," she said.
To Sophie's surprise Malcom hugged Sophie tightly and needingly.

"In a few months we will be married," Malcolm said to her.

"I need to speak to you about that..." Sophie said but Malcolm cut her off.
"I have to make a call Sophie, we can talk in a moment, do go into the living room," he said as he dailled a number and chatted away.

Sophie paced the living room for a few moments before Malcolm entered the living room followed by an unexpected guest. Jack. Sophie was shocked and confused to see Jack and Malcolm stood next to one another.

"Is it true?" Jack asked her angrily, "Are you engaged? To him?"
"Of course it's true," Malcolm sneered, "She is my fiancee."

"Jack, I tried to tell you...I wanted to....oh God," Sophie said emotionally.

"How could you?" Jack said disgusted, "I got a phonecall explaining everything. Do you love him?"
Malcolm laughed, "Love? You think she cares about you?" He chuckled to himself as Sophie tried to explain,

"Our engagement is not one of love for another, but the hope that we will love one another in the future..." she said upset. Jack looked horrified?

"You're marrying him for money?" Jack said suddenlly looking around the house, "Because your parents want you to? Sophie do you have any idea how crazy that is? How old fashioned. Seriously Sophie!"
"I have no choice," Sophie said abruptly as tears covered her cheeks.

"You do," Jack said softly, "You could choose me, someone who loves you, yeh I love you Sophie. Don't even try to pretend you don't love me back. I know you do. You're an adult Sophie, you don't have to marry who your family want you to." He was pleading with her but it was no use. Sophie started to cry harder.

"Please go Jack," Sophie replied, "Please. I am sorry I hurt you but we can't be..."
Malcolm was smiling as she dismissed Jack and effectively chose him. He pulled her close suddenly and before Jack kissed her hard on the lips. It wasn't passionate or even affectionate. It was to make a point. Sophie tried to push him off but when she did Jack had already gone. Malcolm looked at her confused,

"Sophie?"

"Just keep away from me a bit Malcolm, I am a bit raw at the moment," Sophie asked.

"You made the right choice, I will make you happy and I will love you," Malcolm assured her.

Sophie sat on the sofa silently for a moment as tears streaked her face. She did love Jack but she'd lost him for good. Malcolm eventually came over and consoled her. She didn't dare resist his arms, she'd need to get used to his affection. He wasn't overly bad, any other man would've kicked her for her infidelity. He didn't kiss her, he just consoled her silently. Sophie wondered if she perhaps grow to love him and maybe he'd heal her broken heart. She needed to forget Jack and she owed Malcolm that. In the next few months, Sophie grew to spend more time with Malcolm and her feelings for him changed but she didn't love him in the way she loved Jack. However, when Sophie realised she was pregnant, with Jack's child, Malcolm had understood and had not raised his voice. Their families agreed Sophie would keep the baby and they would raise it as their own. If anyone asked they would say it was adopted. Sophie adored Malcolm for standing by her and allowing her to keep the final part of Jack she had left. 7 months into her pregnancy and Malcolm had been an attentive and understanding fiancee. Sophie had agreed to postpone her job whilst pregnant and keep her pregnancy hidden from the outside world. It was tough for Sophie, as she became house confined a lot of the time but this baby she carried would be worth it. She moved into the Landgraab household and enjoyed getting to know her fiancee.

When he finally bought her engagement ring and officially proposed, Sophie knew what her answer would be.
The ring was the most expensive looking diamond she had ever seen.

She smiled as he slipped the ring on her finger. She touched her bump softly and was hopeful they would be a happy family. Sophie looked at her fiancee and knew he loved her in his own way. Over the past few months she'd seen the kind, considerate and thoughful side to him. His kisses didn't make her weak and their love making wasn't as passionate as it had been with Jack but Malcolm was keen to help her raise the baby and that made her love him more. Sadly, the truth was that Malcolm resented that child of Jack's. As soon as Sophie had the baby, the Landgraab's wanted to have it adopted. Not that they had Sophie's permission but they had her parent's. Then again they didn't need anyone's permission. They were the most powerful people in Sunset Valley and what they wanted happened....

Well, well, that spells disaster... does Jack know at all he became father of a child? What if he finds out and that the Landgraabs want to give it away like unwanted furniture? Sophie won't enjoy her chosen marriage, I am sure \:\)
