Blu and Christina were taking their relationship to the next level. They were spending a lot of time together as the months passed. Now Christina was torn. She truly liked Blu and not because she had to like him. He was sweet and genuine. It was her first real boyfriend and she did not want to hurt him.
Angel: Just a few more days Blu. Just a few more days. Just as Angel was getting out of her car and meeting the rest of the Divas, she was stopped by Christina.
Christina: I can't do this.
Angel looked at Christina with a small grin.
Angel: You can't or you won't.
Christina: Both. I can't just hurt someone like this. I don't even know why you chose him anyway. Angel began to laugh
Angel: I can't believe it. You are actually falling for him. You poor and unfortunate soul. The first rule to being a Diva is to never have feelings for a guy. They come and go. But best friends are forever and if you want to be our best friend then you WILL break up with him.
Christina: But Angel.... he's so nice and sweet... Angel: And charming, and treats you as if you are the only one in the room.
Christina: Well yeah.
Angel: Face it Christina. They all are, they all do that. Until someone else comes along. Someone new and then it's bye to you. Angel: Look, he's your first real boyfriend. I was once where you were. But now it is time to grow up. He'll get over you and you will get over him. There will be plenty of boys that will treat you ten times better than him. He's just one of many.
Christina: I don't know Angel. I just feel bad about this.
Angel: Hey Christina. It's up to you. Either the boy that will be leaving for college in a few months. Or your girls...who will be with you and have your back no matter what. It was two weeks before the big break up. Over the weekend the girls presented Christina with her official uniform. It smelled brand new.
Angel: Congrats to Chrissy. The newest member of the Diva Clique. Now let's take it for a test drive. As they stood in the hall gathering with other students, Sal Warner walked up to Christina.
Sal: Hey Christina nice threads. You looking good in that uniform.
Christina: Thanks Sal. I just got it this weekend.
Sal: Say are we still on for studying next week. I- Angel: No, No,No Chrissy. You got it all wrong. We don't patronize with them.
Angel took her hand and placed on her head.
Angel: Do you know what this means? You need to get going loser.
The rest of the group looked on and laughed. Sal's face hardened. He looked at Christina and then walked away from the group. Christina: You shouldn't have done that Angel.
Angel: Christina! Please. He will get over it. He needs to know his place and that is we are at the top of the food chain. His kind is just chum. We are like sharks
Christina: But there are other animals that eat shark..
Angel: That's not the point Chrissy. Come on before classes begin. Just after their usual study session Blu had a surprise for Christina. You took me to the Hang Out. What's so special about coming here? There isn't anyone else here yet.
Blu: Just wait right here. I want you to see something. Blu motioned to the manager who turned the music down. Blu sat at the drums and began to play. Christina eyes widened when she realized what she was hearing. It was her song. She watched as he played the song to her. She was touched by him finishing the song she never could. Blu: So what did you think
Christina: It was wonderful. I can't believe you did that.
Blu: I'm glad you did. I had been working on it for sometime. I hope you don't mind your mom let me see the notes.
Christina: No. I'm touched. I didn't think I could finish it. Thank you. She hugged him amorously. By now it was B-Day. Angel picked Christina up for school. At first she going to play sick. But she knew it would only mean that she would have to do it tomorrow. She ran through the events in her head. How did she get to this? Why didn't she say no from the beginning. Then she looked down at the uniform she was wearing. She remembered all the friends and attention she was getting being part of the Divas. But would it all be worth it if she hurt someone she cared about. She hid out of most of the class time in the library. She kept telling herself that if he found her she would break up with him. But he never did.
Then when lunch period came she hurried to meet up with the Divas.
Blu: Hey babe. I've been looking for you.
There was Blu walking up to her.
As he got closer he noticed she was not looking herself. Inside, Christina was going to be sick. She felt her breakfast coming up. She began to sweat.
Blu: Are you alright Christina.
Christina: No it's not ( she murmured under her breath) Blu: What?
Christina: NO IT'S NOT!
Blu: Alright okay. No need to yell. Let's go to the nurse.
Christina: Don't touch me.
Blu: What? What's wrong with you.
Christina: You are what's wrong with me! You're smothering me. Can't you just leave me alone once in a while.
Blu: Okay. I'm sorry. I didn't think I was bothering you.
Christina: I can't take how you're always around me. I need some space.
Blu: Alright. I'll call you later. Christina: No Blu. I need space permanent space.
Blu: Why? What did I do? We were good just yesterday.
Christina: I've been thinking and I don't want to be with you anymore.
Blu: But....what did I do? Let's get out of here and talk somewhere more private. Whatever it is, we can talk it over. Is it your family, my family? Talk to me Christina.
He held her hand but she yanked it from her. Christina: You know what this is? Yeah. I don't want to be with you. I have everything I need and I don't need you. You were good but now I'm on to better things.
Blu: Come on Christina. Quit playing like that.
Christina: I'm not playing Blu. I'm looking for someone I can be long term with and you will be old news once you go to college.
Blu's face became cold. He was confused and angry.
Blu: You know...I don't know what is going on but I don't like it. Just yesterday, we spent what I thought a good night together. What happened since yesterday?
Christina saw the hurt in her eyes. She began to soften. She wanted to tell him everything. She caught herself before she said anything else.
Christina: It's over. Blu: Fine! It's over. I can't believe I thought you were something. I don't know what happened to you within the past 24hours but I don't care. You can't even tell me what I did wrong. Thanks for wasting my time. He stormed out the hall. Christina waited for the halls to clear of students and began crying. Christina went home early. She went to the nurse to fake her illness just so she did not have to go back to classes. Lisal came home early when the school called to say Christina was coming home early. She entered the room after her knocks where not answered.
Lisa: Is everything alright honey?
Christina: I'm fine mama. Lisal: That's not what it sounded like from the door. It's not like you to get sick and leave school. Want to talk about it?
Christina looked over her shoulder. Lisal looked at the tears running down her face.
Lisal: Oh Christina. She got out of bed and ran into her mother's arms.
She told her mother what happened at school.
Lisal: My poor baby. But why did you break up with Blu? I thought you liked him.
Christina: I do... I mean I did. It's just that the Divas.
Lisal: Divas? Christina told her mother about the Divas and that being a part of the group meant she would have to do an initiation.
Lisal: So you mean to tell me this whole time you were faking your feelings for Blu.
Christina: I wasn't faking my feelings. I really liked him. I just wanted to be popular. With the Divas. Lisal: Oh Christina. I thought you father and I taught you better than that. You played with his feelings.
Christina: I know. And I feel just awful.
Lisal: Well you know what the only right thing to do is. You need to talk to him. Tell him the truth. Christina: But what if he doesn't want to talk to me. What if he hates me?
Lisal: If he truly likes you, he will talk to you. I don't think that would be something he would just let go.
Christina: Thanks mom. Thanks for everything. Lisal told Ted what happened after dinner that night.
Ted: Well I guess this means I won't have a chess partner anymore.
Lisal: Oh Ted.
Ted: What? Too soon...too soon?
