  • “…and so that faithful day, our young heroine was crowned Queen of Albion to carry out her fate to bring peace to the world,” tap, tap, tap as Zinnia typed vigorously on her computer.
  • 3
  • “She was more than happy to finally know where she belongs and what she’s destined to do. However deep within herself, she knows something is missing…”
  • 4
  • “…she longs for…hmm…what’s a good word…dashing? No, too cheesy,” she mumbled as she lightly tapped her fingers on the same key - thinking.
  • 5
  • “How about ‘a fine gentleman’,” she bothered not to look up when she heard new footsteps creaking into her office. “Oh you’re up already? What do you want for breakfast, have you eaten?”
  • 6
  • Beside her, Scott stood already in her school uniform. “It’s seven-thirty Zin. Have you been working on that thing the whole night?” Zinnia just sat there and nods; her eyes dead; staring from the stress.
  • 7
  • Then she looked up and smiled “Aww, well don’t you just look charming in that,” she cheered with pure amusement in her eyes. “You think? It is breezy,” Scott referenced to her skirt. “But anyways, get up and eat; the Queen of Albion can wait.” She sternly said as she crossed her arms with a smirk.
  • 8
  • “Yes mom.” Zinnia relentlessly got up and followed her sister upstairs. I guess leaving the door open to let the aroma of a good home-cooked breakfast works after all. Now I know that some of you may be confused of how this chapter started, so let me explain…
  • 9
  • After their stay at the family home, they got up the following day around 3 am and went home so Scott could prepare for school. While Scott slept soundly, Zinnia couldn’t as she was itching to write a new chapter for her novel.
  • 10
  • Anyhow it was as usual, a pleasant Monday morning; the kind of day that makes you go to school on your own freewill. I don’t know the entire reason of why I’m cheery since the Lantern Festival’s near. But I guess it’s because I’m relieved of my worries.
  • 11
  • “See you later Zin,” was all we heard when the door slammed.
  • 12
  • “Wait! Don’t you want me to drive you to school?” Zinnia ran out the door and called out to Scott who’s already on her way. “No, I’ll just walk. Plus, you’ll embarrass me; later Zin.”
  • 13
  • Zinnia stood still, thinking about what her sister just said…then it hit her. Silly girl’s still in her underwear; dashed right back into the house.
  • 14
  • With Zinnia safe from the public’s eye, Scott and I strolled our way to school. About ten minutes later we arrived at Tsuki-Hana Home School campus, my alma mater. Even though I studied at south Tokyo branch, I still feel like it’s welcoming me back home.
  • 15
  • As I gazed the beauty of the building upon me, Scott sighed, “well here goes nothing.” She slowly walked into the building and went into the principal’s office for her orientation.
  • 16
  • “Ah, Katrina, welcome,” the principal and my sister-in-law, Masako greeted. “Auntie, good to see…wait. You’re the principal? But…” Scott stammered; apparently she didn’t expect her dejected aunt to actually run her school.
  • 17
  • “Hmm…well, at least I know you’re really a Miyazama.” Masako uttered in dismay as she sat down on her desk. “I mean, everyone in the family just can’t believe I can still do things! I’m young and educated and…” she paused, sorrow in her eyes. “…barren”
  • 18
  • Scott just sank on her seat as she listened and waited for her aunt. “That’s not what I meant. It’s just that I’m surprised to see you. I know you’re a principal, but I didn’t know you’re going to be my principal.” Both of them were quiet, and then they raised their heads and smiled at each other.
  • 19
  • “Care to take it from the top?” A nod and a smile, the two started over again and discussed school matters, paperwork and everything else, as well as Zinnia’s referrals. “Final matter; I know you have an edge for swimming, care to join the school’s swim team?”
  • 20
  • “I do swim but I quit a long time ago. I don’t think I’ll make the team,” was Scott’s humble reply. “Please do think about it.” Masako got up from her chair and signaled Scott to come with her.
  • 21
  • “Maybe I’ll give it a shot at least,” Scott reconsidered. Her aunt approved and both went upstairs to her classroom.
  • 22
  • Meanwhile inside the classroom, chaos has erupted. “…that’s it; I’ve had enough of your crap Miyazama,” says a redhead girl as she ominously walked towards, who I think, Hideki. “Tch, what you gonna do about it, slap me?” was his usual smug and uncouth reply. “No, something better…”
  • 23
  • Upon seeing the commotion, Masako delivered a stern scolding. “What’s all this about? Do you want me to call all your parents?” The whole room died down as all of them didn’t say a word.
  • 24
  • “Ms. von Meyer,” she called out to the girl, “hallway, now.” The girl just shrugged and followed Masako towards the door.
  • 25
  • “You’re lucky mommy dearest appeared. Next time, you’re dead,” was the last thing she said as she walked passed Scott and disappeared into the hallway.
  • 26
  • Dumbfounded, Scott stood still beside the door. She didn’t actually prepare anything to say after what just happened.
  • 27
  • Luckily, a foreign boy approached and welcomed her. “Hey, uh, don’t mind that. That always happens. By the way, name’s Gregory, Gregory von Meyer, the feisty girl’s my sister, Alice,” he said as he offered his hand. “What’s your name?”
  • 28
  • “Sco…Katrina, Katrina Miyazama,” she stuttered as she shook his hand. “So you’re related to…”
  • 29
  • “Class, please take your seats,” their homeroom teacher, Ms. Telerman arrived at the door with Alice behind her. She led Scott at front and introduced her.
  • 30
  • “I’d like you to welcome our new student, Ms. Katrina Miyazama.” Shy to say anything else, Scott just bowed to greet them all then she was directed to a seat behind Gregory.
  • 31
  • “Now, any news about Lorelei? Yuki, she lives around your neighborhood, right?” Their teacher asked as she checked her records. “Still bed-ridden sick, Ms. Telerman," the girl answered. Lorelei? Not another mind puzzle.
