~Cinderella~

This is my new story! Don't worry if you are waiting for The Legacy Over History, I am working on it. I just have a very limited free time, since it is my IGCSE year, and our beloved techers 'bless' us with plenty of homework. Enough, on with the story...
Once upon a time, there was a happy couple. They had everything in the world that they wanted: love, fortune, a lovely home... ...and a beautiful daughter, Clara, who was their pride and joy. They all loved each other, and they had a wonderful life. But soon their happiness came to an end...Belle became more and more tired every day. Leopold brought the best doctors of the world to her, but nobody could heal her. And one day...
"You must know, Clara, that when there's a thunder, there's always a rainbow, too, and even if it's far away and you can't see it, it is there." Belle said to her daughter, before she closed her eyes, and never opened them again.
Clara was crying every day for a month. She had missed her mother so much. Lionel was sad as well, but he knew that he had to make his daughter happy. He knew what she needed: a mother. So he got married again. His new wife was a rich widow. At first she tried everything to befriend Clara. She was nice, helpful and friendly. She had two daughters, too. They both had their bad sides, but usually they behaved nicely and politely. Ramona was serious and thought that she knew everything. Her twin sister, Romana, on the other hand, was childish at the most. But Clara liked them and they seemed to like Clara, too. But one day Leopold died, leaving his beloved daughter alone. After that life changed completely in the house. It was revealed that Malvina never liked her step-daughter. She forced her to be their maid, stole all her clothes and jewellery, and never let her do what she wanted. Years passed by quickly, but life didn't get any better for Clara, whom they now called Cinderella, for being forced to clean the fireplace. As the twins grew, they became more selfish and vain, and Cinderella could never take a rest, because they always ordered her. She often had to comb their hair or dress them up... But in return of her restless work, all she got was hatred.
"You are just a dirty servant." they would say to her.
But Cinderella never said a word. She did her job quietly and without ever complaining. ~Meanwhile, in the Royal Castle~

The old king was sitting by his desk. He seemed to be angry and unpatient as he called his son over.
"Eric! Would you come here, please?"
"Yes, father?" His son appeared in the door. He had just finished his favourite activity, horse-riding. "Come closer!" his father said. When Eric did so, he continued. "Did you find a girl yet?"
"Oh, father, the girls in the palace are so boring."
The king sighed.
"You say it about every single girl you meet. You would have to choose someone soon. I am getting old, and soon you will be the king of the country."
"But dad, I will get married when I find the girl that I can love! I haven't seen enough girls to choose."
"Then I have an idea! We will have a ball, to where we invite all the maiden girls in the country, and hopefully you will like one of them." the king said.
"Hm..." Eric was thinking. "Fine." he finaly said.
The king immediately sent the invitations away and started to prepare for the ball.
Cinderella woke up early that morning. She was singing a song that her mother taught her, about dreams coming true. "Cinderella! Make breakfast!" her stepmother shouted. "How shamelessly lazy she is." she said. Cinderella got up from the bed. She was tired, but she didn't have the chance to sleep. She made breakfast, then went to clean the windows.
Malvina brought a letter inside from the postbox.
"The King and the Prince are holding a ball tonight, and every maiden girls are invited to it." she read. "He is looking for his future wife and the future queen."
"Oh, how exciting!" Ramona said.
"Yes, one of us might be the new queen."
"We need new dresses!"
"And makeup"
"And jewellery!"
"Oh, how exciting it is!" Cinderella suddenly said. "I can't wait to see the palace!"
"Oh, don't you think you're coming?" Romana asked.
"Look, our servant thinks she is invited!" They both laughed.
"How dare of you!" Malvina yelled.
"But the invitation said all maiden girls were invited."
"No! Do you think that the Prince wants to marry a servant?" Malvina laughed. "You are not coming! You don't even have a dress to wear!" So Cinderella tried to help her stepsisters. But they didn't want her to make them up. They wanted to look beautiful, and thought that Cinderella couldn't make them up properly. They ordered lovely silk dresses from Paris. But nothing helped. Even in expensive clothes, they looked ugly. A smile could've helped them, but they rarely smiled. They thought that smiling was for peasants only. They didn't leave Cinderella alone, since they wanted to look perfect. Suddenly Belle's last words came to Cinderella's mind. Malvina was wrong. She did have a dress to wear! She could save her mothr's old wedding dress after her father's death. It was still fashionable and fit her exactly. She decided to let her hair out. She was very happy that she found a chance to go to the ball. "Let's go, girls." Malvina said. "Wait for me!" Cinderella shouted. They turned around quickly. "You want to come? Hahaha!" Ramona laughed. "Your dress is really nice, but..." "I'm afraid it is wet!" she said and poured water on Cinderella. Malvina pushed her to the ground.
"Oh, I am so sorry, it was an accident! Oh, look! I am afraid that your dress is dirty! Oh, what a pity!" she said then turned away, laughing.
Cinderella stood up quietly. She wanted to cry, but didn't want her stepsisters to see her in tears.
"Let's go." Malvina said. "We don't want to be late from the ball, do we?" With that they walked out, got into the horse carriage and drove off.
Cinderella ran outside to her parents' grave. Tears began rolling down her cheeks.
"Oh, mum, why are they so cruel to me?" She desperately wanted to go to the ball, and now her dream was destroyed. "I wish I could go to the ball."
"You can." A voice suddenly said behind her. She turned around in shock, and saw an old, grey-haired lady in a long velvet gown. "Who are you?" She sked, surprised.
"I am your Fairy Godmother." The old lady replied.
"My what?"
"Don't tell me that you have never heard of fairy godmothers! Everyone has one, and when you are in need, they will visit you and help you."
"But let's help you first! We don't have much time to waste!"
"What do you want to do?" Cinderella asked in amazement.
"First let's give you a dress! You can't go to the ball wearing this old, dirty gown!"
She lifted her arms, and a shiny silver magic wand appeared in her hand. She shook the wand around Cinderella, and suddenly the girl's old gown disappeared, and a lovely silk dress appeared. Then the old lady shook her wand around Cinderella's head.
"You are beautiful." The fairy said.
Cinderella looked at her pretty gown.
She hugged the old lady happily.
"Thank you very much! This dress is lovely! Thank you!"
"But wait!" the fairy said.
Cinderella looked at her, scared.
"There is one thing you need to know." the fairy godmother began slowly... At midnight all the magic will disappear, and you will be Cinderella again! So make sure that you are not in the ball at midnight!" "And now go before it's too late! Enjoy yourself!" she said, then lifted her wand, and a beautiful horse carriage appeared on the street. Cinderella thanked it once again, then got into the carriage. The fairy followed her with her eyes as the carriage slowly drove off. "Remember midnight." she whispered. The prince was dancing with girls from the North... ...and girls from the South... ...but wasn't interested in any of them.
The king stepped to him.
"Two new girls have arrived You should welcome them."
Ramona stepped inside the palace. The prince took a quick look at her, then quickly turned away in shock. And then Romana arrived. The prince nearly screamed as he set his eyes on her. "Father, I have enough of these girls!" he shouted. "You have been dancing with hundreds of girls, and you don't like any of them! You should dance with these girls, they are from a noble family!"
"No! I am not dancing with those girls!"
With that the prince ran off. He needed to get away from all these noble women who were trying to get his attention. But he suddenly saw the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. He quickly introduced himself and asked her if she wanted to dance. When Cinderella replied yes, they started dancing. The prince didn't want to go inside. He wanted to be alone with this beautiful, sweet girl. They were dancing... ...and dancing... ...and then the prince lead her to the garden. He gently kissed her hand.
"You are beautiful." he said.
Meanwhile in the palace everyone was talking about the newcomer.
"Have you seen her dress? It must have cost a fortune!" Romana said.
"I bet she is the daughter of a big king."
"But why is she so familiar to me?"
"Maybe she is a famous princess. Anyway, she is so pretty!"
"Would you like to be my queen?" The prince asked softly.
"Oh, I..." Cinderella started to reply, but suddenly...
...midnight arrived. Cinderella remembered the words of the fairy.
"Bye." she quickly said to the prince.
Then she turned around and ran away.
"Wait! Where are you going?" The prince shouted sadly and desperately. "I don't even know your name!"
But Cinderella didn't turn around. She didn't want the prince to see her true self.
The prince began walking up the stairs, when he saw something shiny. As he went closer, he realised that it was Cinderella's tiny glass shoe. He knew that with that shoe he could find his love... "Cinderella! Make breakfast for us!" Malvina shouted. Cinderella was tired, but happy, and now she didn't mind getting up and making food for Malvina and the girls. She was glad she met the prince. She went down, and, unaware of that, started singing the song of the ball.
Malvina looked at her curiously.
'This song is so familiar to me.' she thought.
'It was the song of the ball!' she realised. 'Cinderella went to the ball and we didn' know it!' she became really angry. "Mum! The prince is coming!" Romana shouted excitedly.
"He is going around the town, looking for the girl he met at the ball!" Ramona continued.
The stepmother knew that that girl was Cinderella, and she wanted to make sure the prince doesn't meet her, but instead, he chooses one of her daughters.
"Cinderella, the back yard is really untidy. Go and do something about it, and after that, go and feed the chicken, then clean their house." she said to her.
Soon the prince arrived at the house. Ramona sat down first. The prince slowly pulled the tiny glass shoe up her foot, ut it was too small for her. "It is my shoe! I remember it!" Romana shouted, as she sat down. But the shoe didn't fit her either.
"Oh, my legs are swallen after dancing all night long, but this is my shoe, belive me!" Romana said desperately.
"My daughter is right. I bought her this shoe."
"Somehow I feel that it's not true."
"But...at least stay for a cup of tea!" Malvina tried to make the prince stay. She wanted him to marry one of her daughters.
"Your offer is very kind, but I can't stay. I have to visit another 50 households to find the girl I met and danced with." the prince said, then walked off the door. As he was walking to the gate, he noticed a girl watering flowers at the back of the garden.
"I have to try the shoe on her as well." He said to himself.
He called the girl over, and as he looked at her, he was more and more sure that she was the girl at the ball. Malvina noticed that the prince was talking to Cinderella.
"She is my servant! I am sure that she is not the girl that you are looking for." She said.
"I insist on her trying the shoe on." the prince looked at her angrily, then turned to Cinderella. "Please try this shoe on!"
The shoe matched Cinderella perfectly.
"I knew it! You are the girl I was dancing with!" the prince shouted.
"Please be my queen!" he asked gently.
Malvina watched them angrily as the prince took Cinderella's hand and the new couple walked away.
Soon the prince and Cinderella got married and they lived happily ever after, while the evil stepsisters lost all their money and had to clean, wash and cook for themselves.
