Hurricane
Chapter 4, part II, «Screwdrivers»

And here we are with the 2nd and final part of this chapter!

Enjoy!
"Done!" I exclaimed, excited, while putting the last bag of trash in the bin.

I had finally finished the job of many hours of remodeling the new house. I had to confess it was a costly and time consuming work, but it had been worth the effort. I felt proud of me and the house which had no embarrassment of calling mine.
I went upstairs to the bathroom, where I sat in the tub full of water, foam and salts. It was a well deserved immersion bath.
I realized it was nearly five o'clock. Jasen hadn't given any news - perhaps he might not even show up. If I needed to travel anywhere (which it was more likely to happen), I would have to continue with the taxis.
Quickly my hopes returned while hearing the squeaky ding dong bell. With a towel on the head and another wrapped around the body, barefoot, I opened the door. It was Jasen.
His eyes widened upon seeing me, going through my whole body, then settling in my chest. I pulled the towel up, regretting of not having worn something more conservative.
"I thought you wouldn't be coming today." I broke the silence.

Jasen showed himself perplexed. "Well, um, I had, um, some work to do."

"No problem." I tried to show that I wasn't bothered by the way I featured myself and Jasen's behavior. "You can go down and take a look at the bike while I change, if you don't mind."

Finally, his eyes met mine, smiling. "Sure. Take your time."
He already went down the stairs when I quickly closed the door and dressed the first clothes that came to my hands . I ended up having to switch to a top - I wouldn't go into the street with a night-shirt. I let the hair down to dry naturally. I walked down the long flights of stairs, where I noticed that Jasen was already practicing his magic, this time with his t-shirt on.

"I can see you found it." I observed.
He stood up, wiping the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand. It was scorching that day.

"It wasn't hard to find, but let me tell you, I got a nice challenge ahead." He said.

Its rusty aspect didn't deceive. "It's that bad?"

"Nothing that can't be resolved." He replied, smiling. "But tell me, why are you so interested in regaining this bike when you could buy a new one for the same price?"

"Don't tell me you're doubting your abilities..."

He quickly interrupted. "No one said such thing, I'm just curious."

I smiled. "It would never cross my mind the idea of buying one, but since this gift came to me, I decided to take a shot."

"Seen from that point, it isn't a bad idea." The smile was returned.
Looking askance at the orange sky, ready to be dyed of a deep blue, I realized it was little time for the night to come. And dinner time.

Subtly, I cleared my throat before trying my luck. "Well, it's getting late... Since you're here, would you like to, um, stay for, um... dinner?" I swear I was able to laugh at myself. Or hide in a hole. Any of the two options seemed reasonable.
Likewise, Jasen was containing himself not to burst into laughing. "You're inviting me to dinner?" He asked, enjoying seeing me in such situation.

"No. I'm just trying to be nice - someone has to be." I snapped.

"Are you sure you're not doing this just to try to poison me?" He asked, approaching. I could feel a slight draft of the perfume he wore. How good it smelled!

I laughed. "Not really. But I must admit it's an excellent idea."

His face took a smug expression. "And then where would you find another pair of hands like mine to deal with this here?" He questioned, pointing to the bike.

"Well..." I looked at the indicated object. "I think I would have to suit myself on my own."

This time he didn't contain the laughter. "I don't think so." He stated, laughing. "And by the way, can I know what's going to be of this dinner?"
I smiled, this time with a smug countenance. "You'll have to wait and see."
