Since her breakup with Pierce, Calleigh had been lonely and sad. She was broken to the extent where she stopped caring about her physical appearance anymore..
She buried herself in binge-eating and it caused her to gain some extra weight, which could eventually jeopardize her career.. She kept thinking of all those good moments she had with Pierce when they were still together..
Their first horse ride together.. That Special picnic at the park on her birthday... Their unstoppable pillow fights at home.. And even that day when they decided to help their 2 daughters ( Chelsea and Olivia) with their chemistry assignments! It was all in her head, and Calleigh was thinking: " how could everything go so fast..how did all this happen, how did we get there..
She was missing him so much; but as much as she was dying of envy to call him, she just couldn't.
She decided to give a call to her best friend, Tiara.
She was the only one who could understand her at that point, and she needed her support the most.
Unfortunately Tiara was not in town to spend time with her, but consistently encouraged her and advised her to get her life back and progressively start moving on.
It wasn't easy for calleigh, but she surely considered her Tiara's advice.. She started with baby steps: firs objective, " she said to herself", Get my body back!
Needless to say, Calleigh needed countless sessions at the gym to burn all that extra body fat she had accumulated.
Soon, Calleigh 's body began to reshape, and so did her self-confidence: she got back to work, improved her career performance, and finally released the latest movie she was working on. Within a week, the movie got ranked number one in all theaters, and everybody was talking about it. People everywhere were excited about it, and everybody wanted to watch it. Calleigh's career took a whole new turn! She didn't expect to have so much success, especially after the tough phase she had gone through.
But as she acknowledged how strong she was and how much she had accomplished, she knew that this time she was heading straight towards her dream, to become a Superstar and do what she does best.. And nothing could stop her.. One night after work, Calleigh decided to go out for a drink with her friend Tiara, who had recently returned to town. They missed each other, and wanted to catch up on what had happened since.
As Tiara was always late ( she had always been), Calleigh went ahead and ordered a round of cocktails, just to pass the time.
As Calleigh was chilling at the bar, she noticed a young gentleman looking way. She didn't know who it was, but as their eyes met, he gently smiled at her, and approached her.. The gentleman: Bonsoir Mademoiselle.. Parlez vous Francais?
( Calleigh didn't get a word of what he said, and looked at him with a confused but cute face) Calleigh: uh.. Am sorry.. what?
The Gentleman smiled again, and apologized..
The Gentleman: I just asked if you speak French, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable..
Calleigh blushed, and felt a little embarassed... Calleigh: It's alright, I guess I should have taken my French classes a little more seriously in High school!
( They both laughed, and Calleigh felt a little more relaxed|). She was trying to figure out in her head whether or not she had met him before, but was clearly disturbed by his attractiveness and his refined french accent.. She couldn't stop staring, and wondering: Who could he be?
As If he read in her mind, he replied. The Gentleman: Pardon my manners, Miss Eds, I failed to introduce myself. I am Matthieu Lagachette, and.. I am a huge fan of yours... Calleigh Blushed ( again) and said: " Thank you"!
She thought: ..wow, talking about a fan.. he is a polite, refined and handsome fan..and what is he doing in town, anyways..Who is he first of all..? In fact, Matthieu was a french businessman and entrepreneur who used to make trips back and forth from Paris to Bridgeport, signing contracts, purchasing enterprises in Bridgeport and creating partnership between the 2 metropoles. He was highly artistic, and painting was his favorite hobby. He also enjoyed playing the piano in his free time, and he used to do it persistently; he was a perfectionist. Among other things, Matthieu was a natural cook, and this was one of the skills he mastered the most. His family owned several restaurants in France, therefore he learned how to cook the most refined and healthy meals one could ever have. At night, Matthieu enjoyed reading, it helped him to fall asleep. His favorite books were based on literature and culture. So after Matthieu had introduced himself, Calleigh asked:
Calleigh: How did you hear about my movies?
Matthieu: well, I generally don't watch TV, but when I arrived in Bridgeport, there was just this movie that everybody seemed to be interested in, and I decided to find out for myself what was so special about it.. I must say.. it was nothing I expected...They couldn't find a better actress for the role of Elena... Calleigh felt flattered, and couldn't hide her happy face.. But she didn't want to seem overexcited about the compliment, and tried to act all professional.. Calleigh: well, I must say... It's quite a positive feeling to know that my acting is appreciate, everywhere..It means a lot to me. Thank you. Matthieu: the pleasure is mine.( Matthieu didn't want to drag the conversation otherwise it would have become boring, and so he said)..
Well Ms. Eds, it woudn't be appropriate for me to retain you any longer, as I believe your date might be coming soon.
Calleigh: Uhm.. I am actually waiting for my friend, we were supposed to meet here about half an hour ago and.. she's late..but I am used to it ( with a smile).
Matthieu: I do apologize for the inconvenience, I am sure she has a good reason. Nobody would purposely try to make a beautiful woman wait alone at a bar..
Calleigh: you haven't met Tiara yet.. ( and they both laughed...)
Then, after working up his nerves, Matthieu finally said:
Matthieu: Miss Eds, would you care to have dinner with me tomorrow night.?
Calleigh's heart bumped in her chest as she thought: I can't believe he just asked me out on a date.. I mean, i haven't been out on a date in a while and I just lost the habit..but.. maybe I should just give it a try..
Calleigh: sure, I will be happy to!
Matthieu: ( kissing the dorsum of her hand, like a real gentleman).. See you tomorrow.
As he stepped out of the bar, Tiara walked in. The next day, as Calleigh was getting ready for her date with Matthieu, different thoughts were racing through her head.. " I am not sure about this..I mean, I just met him and I already like him..not that much, but still..and he seems like a nice guy.. but do I really need this right now?...It's only been a month since I broke up with Pierce and..
Maybe I am worrying too much, it's just dinner, right? It doesn't necessarily mean anything..
Her thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of her taxi, and she left the house. As they were waiting for dinner, Matthieu couldn't help but compliment her appearance.
Matthieu: I am very that you came. You are amazingly beautiful. Calleigh: ( with a smile).. Thank you, I am happy to be here...It's a really beautiful place..
Matthieu: yeah, it is.. And the food is a real delight! I would recommend you to taste the Grilled salmon, it's their specialty!
Calleigh: Really? I think I will do that.. Then came time for dinner..
Matthieu: Do you like it?
Calleigh: Oh, I love it! ( trying to swallow each bite so fast, it was that good) I could eat this everyday!
( as she noticed Matthieu was looking at her with a smile at the corner of his mouth, she felt a bit of shame, and said)
Calleigh: sorry, I.. kind of lost my manners..
Matthieu ( he laughed) Trust me, I was like that the firs time I tasted this too! The rest of the evening was filled with laughter and jokes of all kind, and they got to know each other... Towards the end of the evening, Calleigh went outside to get some fresh air and admire the white roses that were decorating the outside corner of the restaurant. - They are beautiful, aren't they? Matthieu interrupted. Calleigh: they are amazing..Together, their beauty is glaring and unmistakable.. And even on their own, each one of them is so unique and so special it makes you wonder if you can ever live without them.. Matthieu: ( approaching her..) Is that what your movie is about? " In love again"?
There was a moment of silence. Calleigh didn't reply. She looked at him in the eyes, and he looked at her too. She could feel a strong connection with him, at that moment, but deep down she still had a bit of anxiety and reluctance to do what she wanted the most at that moment: to kiss him.. She stepped out for a while from that " magnetic attraction zone" that was instantly created by him being close to her. She went to play with the butterflies, and them came back to say.. Calleigh: I had a wonderful night here, and I have you to thank for that. And Thanks for making me discover such a nice restaurant!
Matthieu: The wonders of the world are meant to be shared, Ms Eds.
Calleigh: Called me Calleigh...
Matthieu: Hope we can meet again soon.
Calleigh: Hope so too.
She kissed him goodbye and left.
