Hiya! My name's Laura Lwenzo (I hate alliterating names, but it wasn't exactly my choice) and I'm 15 years old. I live in Praxton City (which is like a ghost town with a million and one houses. Not that we live in a house. And we could -- Mom makes something like $5,000 an hour as a lawyer) which is about 2 days from Pleasantview. We live in an apartment (sigh) which is, strangely enough, called "Nothing's Up" Apartments. 'We' (if you were getting a little weirded out, or starting to think I'm crazy) is me, my mom, and my 11 year old (mostly annoying) brother Brandon. Here's Brandon when he's not sleeping, and instead failing at SSX 3 (which was a Christmas present from me, BTW). Go, Brandon! Okay, so now that that's over... (Introductions are important, okay?) I have a problem. A weird/scary/annoying problem. What's my problem? This bookshelf. Okay, I know that sounds crazy, but I have an explanation. It's kinda a long one, though, so sit tight. It all started awhile back on a nice, pleasant, Brandon free Tuesday afternoon, at around 2:00 p.m. Brandon was still at school (Yay!) and mom was being a temporary recluse ( I suspected she was playing Presto! an annoying magical game that Brandon gave her) and I was painting (not well), and enjoying being homework free (till tomorrow. Ugh! I wish school was over on Tuesdays! It'd be WAY better) when the doorbell rang. Which was weird (this was before EVERYTHING in my life was weird, BTW) because No one we knew would've been coming over. All of Mom's friends were at work (mom had used one of her sick days- stupid lucky woman). All of mine were at the mall (I was NOT at the mall because mom had said 'I might go out a little while later, and I want someone to be home when Brandon is back.' sigh. The burdens of being an older sister.) And, of course, any one looking for Brandon would still be at school. Who could it be? Suddenly, My mom and a glowy green girl appeared. No one even opened the door... My mom turned to the green woman. "Katelyn! How nice to see you!" She turned to me. "We'll be in my bedroom, sweetie. Don't come in unless it's an emergency." And they both dashed off. As soon as they'd gone into Mom's bedroom, I walked to the door and listened hard (I know eavesdropping is wrong, but I was so bored! Get over it.) At first, I couldn't hear anything but then I heard them whispering; "...coming back. You've got to pick a side Gretta."(Gretta's my mom, just to clear some stuff up) "...oh god! He'll..." "I know! That's why I came! We've got to..." "...fast..." "Here we go!" And then, there was a shattering sound, and then silence. And guess what? The doorbell rang again. I jumped about to feet, then went to answer it. (But seriously. How many times was this going to happen?!) It was Brandon. "Thanks, Sis. Door was locked. We got out early today 'cause some kid let a bird loose, and the whole staff, even the principal, were trying to catch it. Good times. Anyway, where's mom? Is she going to take us out to dinner like she promised?" I crossed my arms. "I don't think so, Brandon. She's in her room being all secretive with this glowy green girl." "A glowy green girl? Really? Maybe she's a witch! My best bud Cory said he went to the zoo one time, and this glowy green girl showed up, and she cast a spell, and this elephant came and hospitalized a whole bunch of people. Cory had a cast for a month. Maybe something elephant-y is going on." Blink. "There's no such thing as witches, Brandon, and if there were, I don't think they could make an elephant. And even if they could," I added, because Brandon was opening his yap again, "I don't think an elephant would fit in here." "So? I think witches are real! Maybe that witch came across the country to find mom!" Brandon practically shouted. "Yeah, right. Maybe they'll run off together and go around making little children sick! Get real, Bran. I heard them talking though. I didn't really understand. Something about picking sides...?" "Well, if your so smart, Miss Know it All, then why don't we go see what they're doing?" I hated Brandon when he got like this, on one of his (usually Cory fueled) rants. "Bran, NO!" But he was already running to Mom's room. I chased after him, thinking, Oh, crap. Mom's gonna be real upset. I chased him right into the room, yelling, "Bran don't!". But the room was empty. "What? I saw them go in here!" Brandon went to the window. "They're not on the balcony," he said. "Guess they magicked themselves away, huh?" "I told you! Not possible!" I said through gritted teeth."Then what happened? I don't see them anywhere around here, Laura." I put my hands on my hips. "Maybe...maybe.." I started. "Whatever. She was obviously a witch, but Let's forget it and go read Max Malia." (Max Malia's about this girl who discovers she can control time. Me and Bran read it together, and have, since Book #1 came out when Brandon was 8.) "Fine."I said, and we both went out in search of the book. When we got to our bedroom, Brandon rushed to the bookshelf and tugged at a book. "It's stuck!" He said, pulling harder. "Bran! Your making the bookshelf shake! Careful!" And as I said that... The bookshelf swung open! The End of Part 1! This is my first TSR story, so FEEDBACK please! Good, Bad, So-so? Sorry it was so long! Thanks for reading, and happy simming! Part 2 coming soon!
