As expected we're the headlines of all the gossips in school courteousy of my used to be friend Rob. After what happened in the locker room we never talk again. Nick and I weren't worried about it though we're more worried about what mom and Steve would say about us being a couple. Nick told me he would talk with Yumi and the others about us after our class. So I went home early, the house is empty since its just 6pm. I relaxed in the couch trying to empty my head and deciding on how to explain everything to Mom. But my eyes were getting heavier. I was about to enter Lala Land when I heard the door opened.
“Stop it Steve! I wont do it!” “ Come on Elloisa, thats the only possible way to avoid rumors.” Steve's voice is pleading. “Rumors?” mom's voice is furious. I don't want to interfere on what they were quarreling about so I shut my eyes closed. “I wouldn't do it! I wont send my daughter to a damn place alone and that's final!” “She's not even your daughter!” My eyes opened involuntarily after hearing what Steve just said.
“What did you just say?” I asked without moving. Mom gasped. “Ella, honey I'm sorry I didn't mean to...its not-” “Tell me it isn't true...please mom.” I beg as tears roll down to my face. “Ella, you know how much I loved you.” “All these years you lied to me..why?” “I love you as my own Ella...You may not came from my womb but you came from my heart... Does it matter?” I cant take it any more. I don't want to hear any more of it! I kept on running not even thinking where to go. All my life I was so sure of who I am and suddenly I am not who I thought I was. I was running out of breath when I heard someone scream. I looked around and I saw “Jill?” she was lying on the ground. I run through her side. “Jill? What happened?” Her eyes were full of terror looking at me..no looking behind me.
I turned around and I saw a giant green...a monster... trying to smash us!
“No Ella, run!” Jill keeps on repeating but I cant leave her here. I don't know what to do but I have to protect Jill so I stretch my both arms on my side to cover Jill sure it wasn't enough to save her but that's all I can do. I closed my eyes because I know I would get smash but I don't want to die..not here..not now.. and there was a blinding light that even my eyes were closed it is still blinding me and heating up all of me.
When I opened my eyes the giant green monster is gone. I turned around to look at Jill and demand for an explanation but her eyes looks more surprise than mine. Nick and the others is already standing on her back while Josh is helping her up.
“What happened?” Nick asked,his eyes were on me. “I didn't do a thing...Ella save me..she..she-” Jill answered still her eyes were on me. Actually all of them were looking at me surprised. I looked back thinking that the monster might be there again but there is nothing.“What?”
Jill just wave her hands in the air and magically it forms into a mirror. I looked at it and “Me?” I gasped.
My hair have grown long and I can still feel the heat coming from my body and most importantly the ground and the trees were burned! I have a lot of things to asked, I don't even understand what had just happened but most importantly “Did I do this.. Me...How?” “I-I guess your one of us?” Jill replied but it sounded more like a question. “That cant be...her mother is alive and I believe she's-.” Josh muttered. Tears started rolling out from my eyes “She's not my mother.” I whispered.
Everyone of us don't know what else to say. Nick hugged me tightly and we all stayed in silence. “How did you know?” Nick whispered in my ears. “I heard them talking...Steve don't like me..he want to send me away.” “No, that's not true Steve loved you... he only wants to protect you.” “Protect me from what?” I replied angrily. “from me..”
I pushed him away “From you? Is this about that rumors again?” “No Ella...Its...hard to explain.” “Will you all please stop lying to me?” my voice broke. “Forgive us Ella..its just that things like this is not supposed to be know by a mere human and we don't want to scare you but I guess it cant be help anymore...as you see...me, Jill, Josh, Luis, Irish and Yumi were half human and half Asha and we have this strange ability...” “Does Steve know about this?” I asked. He nodded.
I looked at Jill and she nodded too. “Are they-?” “No, are fathers our human but they fell in loved with our mothers which are Asha's.” “What happened?” I asked realizing that all of them lost their mother and it wasn't a coincidence. Her eyes went black, she looked at Nick before answering “Our mother's are full Asha...they weren't suppose to be attach to a human because when they would carry a child of a human they would die after giving birth to a half human.” I dont know how to respond anymore and another realization struck me so that's why Nick was trying to deny his feelings for me and Steve was just trying to protect me.
“Its time.” I heard Yumi said. Nick grab my hand “You guys go ahead, I'll send her home first.” “No! I don't want to go home... I'll go with you.” I said as I pulled my hands. “Ella, its dangerous! You cant-” “You said I'm just like you!” “We're not sure of it yet and I don't want to risk it!” “But I don't want to go home! It's not even my home anymore!” I'm already screaming and crying. “I think you cant bring her home looking like that.” Jill said. And there was silence. Nick looked at the others. “Nick we understand but we need you... we have a duty and you cant just abandoned it because of a girl.” Luis said. Nick was about to argue but Jill stop it in time “I could stay with her Nick besides I think I can't really help you tonight guys im beat up.” She said rolling her eyes.
Nick pat my head and whispered “I'll be back soon..please don't cry anymore... i love you.” and they went deeper to the forest. “Jill...what do you exactly do?” “As an half Asha we are entitle to be the keeper of balance in Ashland and in Earth.” “But how can they go here?” “There are some portals that connects Earth to Ashland...I guess you would ask why us? Well as an half Asha we can control our powers even if they reached their maximum while a full Asha would forget who they are and would turn into a monster..they wont stop killing others until they left us with no choice.”
“What happened to Nick's parents?” “They're gone and so as Yumi's parents.” “What?” I gasped. “ Nick and Yumi are the strongest among us six..they're almost full Asha's their mother's are half Asha's and their father's were full Asha's.” “You mean half Asha's wont die even if they given birth?” I asked and she just nodded. “Where did they go?” I asked. “We don't know...that's what we are trying to find out.” “So that's why they've became couple before..” I whispered.
She looked at me “You knew?” I nodded. "How about Steve?" "He's a human their father remarried a few years after Nick's grandmother died." “Did you guys knew each other long?” “Just for a few years..We all met here 3 years ago when we started our training in becoming Night Heroes.” She said proudly. “Night Heroes?” “Yeah, its a silly name right, but it explain us we are weaker in day time and during the night we regain our full powers and also because there is no day time in Ashland it is always dark in there. That's why our mother prefer us being here with our father.” “Jill you think...Umm...that I could be an Asha too?” “Probably.” We we're now standing in front of a black and brown house. “You could sleep at our place tonight.” She said cheerfully.
We went straight to her room and she handed me a pair of pajama to slept on. “You know Ella, you we're lucky to have a mother and now you have Steve too as a father so please reconsider your thoughts.” I didn't answer I knew she was right. "Jill, you said that you under go a training... you think ...I could...you know." "It depends, you know your case is different from us we grew up knowing we are special but in your case it seems like...the Asha in you had just been wake up. You know Ella you should talk to Elloisa about your true parents, she might know who they are." Again she's right I never questioned Mom's as being my mother. She never made me feel like I am not her's. I grew up with her loved. She had always been there for me. She never leave. “Morning!” “Nick? You're back!” I hugged him tightly. He chuckles “I should have great you more often every morning!” He said jokingly but actually he don't know how much it means to me by just seeing his face all the traces of my worries are gone. “Are you ready?” He asked smiling. “Ready for?” Next Chapter is coming up :))

Can I just say that I'm really enjoying this story? At first I was afraid Nick and his friends would turn out to be vampires (just like in every other story with a teen cast, it seems) due to your Twilight-like beginning, but I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. =]
