Don and I still had time for each other and our love was stronger than ever. Don took up sculpting and Brandywine took up scratching. Before we could blink, Gino turned five! I couldn’t believe how fast he was growing. It made me sad that Dad and Kate couldn’t be a part of his growing up. Don found a pond that he could fish for Deathfish. Ambrosia was the one food that had enough nutrition to sustain us. But not everyone had time to go fishing. There were so many of us that were sick. Gino liked science, too. He was always fooling with chemicals. The scientists invented some pretty wild equipment for us. This particular item bathed you, got you ready for work and teleported you there. But the scientists had not gained much headway in repairing the spacecraft or re-establishing communication with earth. How much longer would we be here? Would we ever get home? Gino said his doll, Buddy was his best friend and that he was real. Back then I let him have his imagination. What could it hurt? I was becoming quite the doctor. I studied in all of my free time. I needed to help those of us who still survived.
