In the last chapter, the Brenny sisters met David and had a brief conversation.
David revealed some interest for them and Chris made his appearance at last.

Chris Parker stared at the spot behind the wall.
He could have sworn that he saw someone there...
He’s not surprised that this conversation is being watched, all the more he should keep his guard up.
“Are you the God Father?” Chris asks the figure at the table.
“Ah, Chris! So glad of you to come! Please, take a seat...” David gestured Chris to the seat across him.
“I am David, God Father’s right-hand man.” David rose up from his seat to extend his hand.
Then he smiled and kept his hand as he noticed the dark look on Chris’s face.
“I thought the God Father would be here...” Chris grumbled.
Laughing, David explained the situation. “I apologise if you are disappointed with my appearance, but the God Father has urgent matters to handle and would require much of his time. That’s why I’m here to speak for him, I hope you understand...”
“Whatever. It doesn’t matter to me that much. I want to know if you could help me to get Joanne Walker back.”
“Ah. The fabled Joanne Walker, you say? The ghost that the police tries to cover...”
“She is not a ghost, she’s alive.” Chris glared.
“Chris, what you are asking is ridiculous.
Accusing the police for hiding a person that no one had heard about in years...
Basing solely on your own memory and experiences, you expect us to stand behind you?”
“I’m out of cards here, that is why I chose the God Father as my last resort.” Chris replied.
“And what can you offer in return for our assistance?”
“Before the cops took my data, I found out something.
And I think you guys could use it...”
“Ah.... How intriguing. And what may it be?” David studied Chris.
“Have you heard of Operation Blitzkrieg?”
David kept quiet. This operation is, apparently, the cops' secret plan to root out some of the mob leaders.
No doubt, the police has kept the preparations of this operation safely under wraps from civilians.
But the God Father would always have his sources and snoopers in the police department.
David wondered how Chris could have known of this particular operation...
Then he realised that this may be why the God Father was so interested in Chris in the first place.
“I must say, for you to even know the name... That is impressive!” David exclaimed.
“And I know that this operation would be carried out in the course of a few months.
I can be useful to the group.” Chris added.
“Oh happy day! Are you joining us, Chris?” David clapped his hands happily.
“No. I will not.” Chris raised his hands to deny the offer.
“All I want is to trade information; intelligence on the operation for Joanne’s whereabouts.”
“Why not join us? In our group, you could take advantage of our resources and we could search for Joanne together...” David asked.
“Joanne wouldn’t want that. I’m already getting my hands dirty working with you guys.
I do not want to get myself or her deeper into trouble, we already have enough with the cops...”
“I see.” David lowered his head and remained silent for a moment.
“I will let the God Father know of your proposal, whether he agrees or not, you will hear from us.
At the same time, hope you do reconsider your position and join us.
I’m sure we could work something out....”
Looking away from David, Chris spoke.
“Thank you, David. But my decision still stands.”
Then he got up,
“I’ll be waiting for the answer.
But know this, I will find Joanne, with or without the help from the God Father.”
And Chris left the bistro, leaving David alone.
As Chris got back, he thought about the conversation he had with David.
Is it really wise of him to strike up a deal with the God Father?
He also wondered about Operation Blitzkrieg... If it was to be successful, he would lose his only hope of getting information about Joanne.
No, he cannot let the operation go through, it must be stopped.
And he started thinking about the figure he thought he saw at the bistro, there was someone there...
Someone with a familiar scent and yet, he still couldn’t put his finger on...
“I assume you had heard the whole conversation, Miss.”
“Yes... yes, David. I heard it all.” The figure spoke softly as she revealed herself.
“If you missed him that much, why didn’t you show yourself earlier?”
“I can’t, David!!!” The figure cried.
“You heard him, he doesn’t want to have anything to do with the mob.
Much less to have ties with the God Father’s daughter...”
“...” David thought to himself and then he spoke out.
“You know, he is even willing to strike a deal with us to find you.
This shows how much he wants you back, Miss. Even after 2 years you left him...”
But all David heard was Joanne’s soft cries that carried through the night...
That’s it! Hope the chapter was worth the wait!
