Hey Guys, I am back!

So "the Bridesmaids" sucked the drama out of me, so I decided to take a break and write some comedy for a change! It makes my mind wander, go up and about, and relaxes me...

This totally new to me but I am already enjoying it, and hope you will too!

I have also decided to thank the CC creators at the beginning of all chapters. They play a huge part in our games and out stories too, and really deserve recognition for their achievement. I just want to do my part!

CC Credits:

- The Bachelor's apartment: by jonsims ( the name of the apartment actually inspired me to write this story!)

- Danielle Capalan: by pralinesims ( but under a different name)

- Danielle's apartment: Pralinesims

- Most of my lipsticks and makeup: pralinesims.

- Some of the female hairstyles: Newsea.

I will keep up this CCs creators acknowledgements as the story goes on.

Now enjoy the story!

" What about Leila?

- Humm...nah, she's too shy.

- But she had long and lovely hair, and you adore long hair!

- ( hand on the chin) Pass.
" Bianca?

- (frown) Na, she's not really smart. Doesn't look like it anyway.
" Katia?

- (Pouted lips, with a humm of hesitation) Katia is aggressive, but she knows what she wants though.
" Buddy, we've been going over this for hours now. Why don;t you just pick one, and get it over with?"

" Jared, tonight I want sophisticated, is it so much to ask?"

He growled.
" Fine. call Leila. I'm going to play with her long hair".

He said, raising one eyebrow as if he had something mischievous in mind.
" Woops! I beat you again! He shouted, making his victory dance. I am freaking awesome!" He headed to the bar and started making some drinks for both of them.

" You can keep working on your technique if you want, Jared, I will still win anyways!"
Jared stopped playing and followed him at the Bar.

" Kevin, how do you do to get so many girls on your feet? You have this sort of... supernatural power over them, you can call them anytime you want and they will still do whatever you wish!"
" See, Jared. He replied, tilting his head on the right then the left - the secret is to figure out what women want. And once you know what they want, give it to them. And give it to them good! Now clean after yourself." " That's deep Bro, that's deep!"

And so he kept looking at his friend, like he was the Master of some ultimate game he never felt worthy enough to play.
" Honey, could you please pass me the salt?

I didn't even bother lifting a finger, that question was not directed to me. Samantha reached for the salt in the middle of the table and passed it to Mom.

- Your stuffed turkey is delightful, I am glad that at least one of my daughters cares enough to carry on the family traditions.

And here we go again, the teasing had started.

- So how was work? Mother continued.

Once again I didn't bother replying, the question was intended for the perfect daughter.
" Oh Mother! You know how the life of a lawyer is. Everyday I have to decide who gets to be free. It's far from easy, you know.

- Oh honey pie, - Mom consoled - You will always make the right choice, you always have. ( Wait for it...) I wouldn't say the same for your sister. ( here it comes.)
" How is that job search going for you anyways? She asked, turning in my direction and pretending to be interested in what I would say. I already knew how that conversation would continue anyways.

- Still nothing, I replied, tilting my head on the other side.

- Well, you won't say I never told you so. There's not much future for a... reporter, or whatever you want to call yourself. The proof is, nobody wants to hire you. If only you had continued going to medical school...
At that moment I instantly disconnected from her train of thoughts. My mom can mentally breaks you down if she wishes. Why can't she just understand that I want to be a journalist and I love it? Why is it so hard for her to accept that this is what I want to do, instead of being an old boring doctor or.. whatever future plans she has for me? Luckily my sister's husband walked in with their 3 years old son in his arms, I really could use that distraction to award my mother's emotional torture.

Indeed, she has the perfect family.

Andrew: Honey, ( he said, addressing his wife). Tommy is doing that weird sound again with his throat, I think it's getting worse.
" I guess we will have to make an appointment first thing tomorrow morning with a Doctor." my sister replied, finishing her meal.

My mother interrupted: well, if your sister was a Doctor, she would have known what was wrong and you probably wouldn't have had to worry about all this at the present moment, while we are having some good family time.

That's it. My mom really was trying to push me to the edge.Like at all family gatherings, she always had to point out something that seemed to be wrong with me! But this time I promised myself: I would keep my calm and not react to it.

Samantha: I am done eating, I will take care of the dishes.

Mom: Oh Sam darling, you're such a sweetheart! I really love having you around the house, you're so helpful! I will surely miss you when you go back!

Yeah, right, whatever Mom. I told myself.
" Well Mom, it's about time I leave. I said, announcing my departure. And as typical Mom, she overreacted, trying to make me feel like the bad guy:

Mom: what? Now? You arrived for this dinner half an hour later, and now you are the first person to leave? It seems like you don't care about spending time with your family, Danielle!

She walked out on me and went to the kitchen. I followed her.
How many times do I have to explain to her that the reason I arrived late to dinner was because my car broke down and I had to send it for reparations, and I have to leave early otherwise I might miss the last bus to Starlight Shores!

" Don't say that Mom, you know it's not true." I replied, trying to defend myself, irritated.

- You know what, Danielle. Just go. Whatever." She ended it there, as if she didn't care.
Samantha came downstairs to kiss her husband goodnight. Mom didn't like them sleeping in the same bedroom whenever they came over, so she had to follow the rules.

Though she had already told him goodnight long ago, she just had to come back downstairs and kiss him in front of everybody. Typical Samantha, why was I still surprised.
" Mom, I am going to put Tommy in bed now. Good night, Danielle. I hope you have a safe ride back." " Good night, Mom'. I wished, with a straight face. I didn't want to leave home angry, it wouldn't have been a good thing to do. Finally! I got back to my apartment in Starlight Shores, free of my family drama.

In total Honesty, only a weekend by the Capalan was worth a reality TV Show.
I was so excited to see my roommate Jackie, who by the way is my best friend in the whole world!

As crazy as that girl drives me from time to time, I love her like a sister. She is the sister I wish I had. If only you could choose your family.
As I stepped in the living room to drop my bags, I realized the party lights were on.

" Jackie, did you throw a party here?" I asked. She gave me that embarrassed yet funny look of a child you just caught up in the act.

I shaked my head and chuckled.
I went to the kitchen and looked for my leftover key-lime pie: it wasn't there anymore. I turned towards Jackie:

" You helped yourself, didn't you?

Again, she gave me "the look".

" Come on, you know this it the only thing that can help me go through a post-weekend by the Capalan!"

- Sorry, I was too tired to cook, and I couldn't just look at it resting so peacefully in the fridge! But not too fast, I have something else that can help you through!
Oh yes! The old " Oogie Boogie Fever!"

And so she started strumming the strings of her bass guitar like there was no tomorrow.
That song used to be our favourite back in College, and since then she knows it's one of the things ( among others) that can give a 10+ boost to my mood. " So how did the weekend go?"

Jackie asked, reaching for " her share" of the OMG ( Orange Mango Guava) icecream I was having.

Jackie just think she can eat everything I eat.
She came and sat next to me, and we had an icecream moment.

" The usual, you know. I replied.

- She dropped a bombshell, didn't she! Jackie asked, referring to my mom. I am not a big complainer, but with all those years of being in my life, Jackie had heard from me everything about the kind of person my mother is.

- I think if she sees how happy you are and how hard you try, she will probably change her mind! Jackie continued.
I shaked my head. Any ordinary mother probably would, but not mine.

" Mrs Capalan will never be satisfied with whatever I do, unless I become a Doctor." I replied.

Suddenly Jackie stopped talking:

" Are you trying again to eat the icecream directly from the box with your tongue????" I questioned, surprised.
Jackie: yes, and I almost choked!

I laughed at her, that was hilarious! To me Jackie was just purely... insane.
Jackie continued:

" Maybe you should invite your mom over and show her how happy you are. Sometimes parents think they know what's best, but in reality they don't always do.

- You're probably right, Jackie. But maybe I should get a real job first.
Jackie: Haha, I see you doing it!

Yes, Jackie had caught me trying to eat the icecream directly from the box with my tongue... After living with her for years, her insanity had started to grow up on me!
Later on that evening, I kept working on an article I had started already. The article was one of the key requirements for a " News Editor" job I had applied for. It was at the "Starlight Daily". If I wanted that job, I had to rock that article! Luckily for me I had great writing skills, so it wouldn't have been such a challenge.

I always kept my old skeleton in my office, just as a reminder of my past years in medical school, and the reason I quitted: my mom wanted it, not me. Besides, I think the skeleton gives the office a little.. "creepy freaky" touch.
As I worked a little too late on my article, I didn't hear my alarm going off the next morning.

" Holy cow! I woke up screaming. I am freaking late for my Job Interview!"
I put on some clothes, jumped right in my car and drove as fast as I could. But I could only drive as far as my father's old car would allow me to. So much for a vehicle that just came back from reparations.

I loved it anyways and dearly, it was the only tangible gift left to me by my father before he passed away.
My moment of nostalgy was abruptly interrupted as a brown metallic SUV hit me at the back of my car:

Holy Buckets! I just got this car from reparations!
" Good Heavens! I yelled. Do you mean to look like you didn't see me taking the left!?"

I definitely blew a fuse. Not only was I late, but I realized I would have to spend at least another 700 simeleons to get that car fixed again!
The driver stepped out of his car and, keeping his calm he flirtily said:

" Hello Gorgeous angel coming down from Heaven.. You don't need to be so angry, we can make all this go away...Why don't you tell me what's your name, and I will tell you what I can do you for?"
I couldn't believe he had just said that. He had no consideration of the fact that he had jammed my car, and all he cared about was... I was on the edge:

Danielle: you know you are paying for this, right?!

The man: I can pay for anything you want me to, as long as you come home with me... ( he winked)

This had just moved from worse to the worst! he wasn't even worth my time, and I was already very late for my appointment, and most of all he didn't care!
All I wanted to do was slap him in the face, but he was neither worth the time, nor the energy! What a fool.

"I have no time to waste with such an idiot like you, there is nothing on this earth that you could possibly offer me that I don't already have, and I hope you remain miserable for the rest of your day."

When dealing with a guy full of himself, I know reducing him to nothing always works. I had to do that at least to get back at him, though it wouldn't have compensated for my wasted time and broken car.
Going back to his car, he giggled.

" We will see about that, Bella.."

What an idiot, I murmured.
At last I arrived at at my appointment, more than an hour late and well up in arms about my car accident.

The editor in chief of the "Starlight Daily" sat there quietly for a moment, after reading my article.

" We can't hire you", she said; flipping the back cover of my article and putting it under her desk.
" What?!" I asked upset, literally jumping out of my chair. After all I went through that morning, that was the icing on the cake.

- Ms Capalan, you clearly have what it takes for the job, but unfortunately your article lacks depth and meaningful content. And this is the most crucial requirement to work here. You need to tell an interesting story, something people would want to read. You are not interesting."

Wait, I heard that: she had just called me a boring person.
" I am not interesting? She told me I am not interesting! I complained to Jackie. She took me out to lunch that afternoon after I whined on the phone about having a bad day.

Jackie knows the best restaurants to eat in town, and that is because either she has discounts at those places, or some past fling of hers brought her there once.

" Good friends take their friends to lunch when they are having a bad day", she would always say.
" C'mon, Danielle, don't take it personally; she consoled. What she meant was you need to find a topic that would interest the people in Starlight Shores. Nobody cares about the fate of the fishes in the Starlight Shores Lake! And to be honest, I am not even sure that people in Starlight Shores eat fish!" Ok, fine. Jackie kind of had a point, my topic was a little... boring. But what else could I write about? I wasn't the kind of person to have the latest gossips on celebrities, so that was definitely not my thing.

" You need to write about something that you know, that you have experienced, you've lived! That would give depth and credibility to your story. And it also has to be something people would want to read about!"

That evening, I gave some thoughts to what Jackie had told me earlier. A Bubble bath was ( among few other things) one of my favourite ways to relax.

Perhaps I could write about my crazy roommate Jackie, or probably my tumultuous relationship with my demanding mother? That could be a best-seller, but in the " Depressed Anonymous" world.

Oh gosh.. Why did it seem so hard to come up with an exciting topic to write about? Maybe that job just wasn't for me afterall.
The next morning as I randomly browsed through the newspaper as part of my daily routine, something struck my attention: there was a job opening.

Eureka! The Universe was finally working with me!

It was a job as a Personal Assistant. Nothing that I ever did before but I seemed to have the qualifications for it! Not a thing was revealed about the nature of the employer, nevertheless it came to me as an inspiration: instead of writing an article about my boring life, I could write one about that person's life and get the chance to be employed in my desired field!

Really, that bubble bath yesterday night did me some good.
My revelation moment suddenly got disrupted by the sound of the TV: it was on the channel showing those weird Hawaiians dancing in their hula hulas. Jackie must have left it on for the entire night, again.

I wonder what she finds interesting about that.
Anyways I headed to my dream job address and rang the bell. The door got opened in no time.

" Wow, that was fast.." I thought to myself. They really must need me asap.
" Holy Cow! I must be dying, Kevin! There's an angel at the doorsteps!"

" I'll be right there!" Another voice shouted from inside.

Okay, I knew I inherited some good looking genes from my mother ( and I will forever be grateful for her beautiful hair), but that was quite an over reaction, I didn't consider myself a gorgeous thing.
" Hello Beautiful... I told you we would meet again soon..." The Gentleman said, standing right in front of me.

What the heck? This wasn't happening.. Somebody slap me, it's not him! My living nightmare, I instantly recognized him. How could I forget his mischievous face?

It was the reckless guy who had destroyed my car the day before. With all the attitude I had given him, I couldn't believe I was about to apply for a job by him.
" Good Heavens!( I inwardly exclaimed.)

The gods must be against me..."

Hope you enjoyed it.

Thanks for reading!
