(I apologize for taking so long to get this next chapter finished. I was stuck in real life. It might be best to start from chapter one and read through before you read this, just to catch up.)

(I apologize for taking so long to get this next chapter finished. I was stuck in real life. It might be best to start from chapter one and read through before you read this, just to catch up.) "Of course not!" Sue exclaims, but I'm not buying it. She may want to be an actress but she'll need to learn to control her facial expressions better.
Steve stands and nods towards the door, "Dude, I think it's time you left."

I can tell that I have worn out my welcome, and any questions I have for Sue will have to wait.
I pass through the back of the lot and by chance, Ms. Wolfe is also leaving. "Mr. Larson, I hope my people were cooperative," she says. "Yes, thank you," I respond, a little distracted, Sue's smirk still fresh in my mind.

"Ms. Wolfe, what do you know about Steve Robert's uh... girlfriend Sue?" I suddenly realize that I'm not sure what Sue's last name is.
"Susan Cyclonus," she says, nodding. "I don't know her personally so I can't tell you much."
But now I have a name, and that's the best place to start. I thank Ms. Wolfe for her time and make a beeline for my office. I can probably get most of my information off the internet but I'll make some phone calls as well. I have friends on the police force who owe me a few favors...
Once inside my office, I sit at my desk and power up my laptop. Just as I click to open the web browser, my phone rings.
"Larson Investigations," I answer.
"Mr. Larson, this is Detective Jake Crowley. I'm calling as a courtesy. We'd like you to come in and answer some more questions about Elena Roberts."
"I'm a little busy Detective," I start to say but he interrupts...
"We've just had a call from Mr. Roberts claiming that you have been harassing him..."
"Harassing!" I exclaim, "hardly that." But I have to admit I am surprised at how quickly Steve put in a call. I've barely been off the Plumbob lot for thirty minutes.
"Look, Crowley, I was over at Plumbob earlier today with the permission of Melissa Wolfe, the CEO. You can check that with her."
"I will," he says, and hangs up before I can say anything else.

Now I'm annoyed. I'm fairly sure that Steve doesn't know anything but I'm convinced that this Susan Cyclonus has her pretty little paws all over this affair and I plan to find out why.
Back to the internet and onto Google; I type in "Susan Cyclonus". Dozens of hits come up, but they all seem to be related to the articles from the tabloids about Sue and Steve. In fact, there are no mentions of her name going back more than three years.

Even her page on IMDB.com is practically blank. It's almost as if she just dropped out of the sky and landed in Steve Robert's lap.
I put in a call to a friend of mine at the Bridgeport Police Department asking him to gather anything he can find about this mysterious woman and then I sit back in my chair and think. What could this woman have against me? I am sure that I don't know her... it's just not possible to forget meeting a woman who looks like that but talks like such a complete airhead. Unless the airhead persona is an act. But is she that good an actress?
My mind is just going in circles so I decide to take a break at Roy's. I head upstairs for a quick shower and change, then walk down the block to the bar.
I grab an empty bar stool and watch Roy make a few mixed drinks for some tourists.

He's too busy for small-talk today, but Darla's always got time.
"Another visit without a drink? You going for the record?" she asks.
"Tell you what Darla," I reply, "soon as this case is over I'll buy us both a round."
"What case is that? That Robert's lady? I thought they found that woman dead."
"Yes, but I still don't know who "hired" me to look for her in the first place."
Darla shakes her head, "Don't know why that's important, since she's dead, but if you say you need to know, I hope you find out."
A large group of guys dressed in sports jerseys tumble into the bar, still loud and rowdy from a game. They take Darla's attention, but before she goes she places her hand on my arm and says "You know, whenever I have a tough problem I talk it out with Roy. There's nothing like family in a time of need." I give Roy a glance, but he's even busier now and the place is getting too loud for me to collect my thoughts. I wander out and start walking.
I don't have a destination in mind, but I soon find myself on the path leading to Wilson's Cove where Elena's body was found.
The water is smooth, lapping quietly against the rocks on the shore. A few seagulls hover nearby, watching to see if I brought any food. Otherwise the beach is deserted. I stroll over to the shoreline and look out at the bay, the city skyline rising before me.
The crime scene tape from the area where Elena was found flutters in the breeze and I can tell by the number of footprints in the sand around me that I'm in the right spot. It's not like I expect to discover anything that the police couldn't find, but I can't help looking.
I walk back and forth across the sand, and then I mosey over to the nearby picnic tables and even dig around a little in the trashcan. I sigh to myself, feeling foolish, as if I somehow thought there'd be a sign sticking up out of the sand saying "answers here!" or that Elena's spirit would rise up and tell me everything I want to know.
Ok, this is just silly, and I'm wasting time. Maybe my friend from the police department has found some information about Sue.

I've just decided to go back to my office when I catch a glimpse of turquoise, white and gold on the path up by the road. I stop and stare, and then hear the sound of a car and squealing tires. What the hell was that all about?
