Hi! Welcome to Part Two of the PlumbBob Quest. If you didn't read Part One, I suggest you read that first. Hope you enjoy!
Who would read a thing like that? I thought. I decided to pick it up and see if it had ever been borrowed before, since I was getting sick of looking through physics books. I pulled it - but it wouldn't come out. Undeterred, I pulled harder. Suddenly I heard a small creak. The whole bookcase spun around... and pushed me forward. I stood there in a state of shock. I looked around. I'd stumbled upon a secret room! I gasped when I saw the small sign on the wall: "Restricted Area - Banned Books". There were so many books, and I recognised some of them - they had been banned soon after publication, usually because they were thought to be too controversial - but I'd always thought that the library had disposed of their copies after the ban. In the middle of the small room was a desk. I walked over to it eagerly and pulled one of the drawers. But it wouldn't open - it had been locked. I tried all the other drawers, with the same result. I turned back to the secret bookcase door and saw the "History of Lint" book, realising that it was the perfect book to hide a secret door. Who'd read something like that? I pulled the book again and was returned to the main library. I looked around - everyone was either concentrating on their work or asleep, so no one had noticed my quiet disappearance. I saw Jasper, who was still looking at physics books, and hadn't seemed to notice. I hurried over to him, whispering, "I think I've found something." Excited, he followed me over to the "Lint" book. "This," I said, proudly pointing at it. "A History of Floor Lint?" he repeated, bewildered. I promptly pulled at the book again, and both of us were pushed into the secret room. "This is a banned book section!" I exclaimed proudly. Jasper looked around in shock, and then started to get excited. "I think this is it!" he whispered. "There must be something here!" We started examining the banned books. But although they were all quite controversial and interesting, I found nothing about the virtual reality theory. "Hey Jas, I haven't found anything, have you?" I asked after a long search. Jasper, however, was in seventh heaven. "Look at all these books! This one's got information about aliens in it! This one's got a whole chapter about Bella Goth!" "Whoop-de-do," I said. "You can come back later. We're trying to find a book about virtual reality, remember?!" "You don't want to hear about this true story - 'I Live with Bigfoot'?" he asked hopefully. "Not now," I replied, exasperated. "So have you actually found anything about the virtual reality theory?" "No. But there's this really interesting theory about cheesecake causing twins -" "I haven't found anything either," I cut him off. "Do you think there's nothing here after all?" "I was so sure," Jasper sighed, glancing around one last time. "Wait... do you think...?" he murmured. I realised what he meant. "It could be in the locked drawer!" I agreed. "But how do we get it open?" "I bet the librarian has a key." Jasper grinned.
~End of Part Two~
Thanks for reading! This time a special thankyou to Bailey Weggins on Mod the Sims, who created the lot "Public Library" which I used as the Whitworth Library (minus the secret room). That's the end of Part 2. Next time find out how Bec and Jas are going to get the key. Look out for Part 3 soon!
