Hi all! So, you know, here's part 5! Whoa. Never thought I''d make it here. I always assumed that, you know, no one would like my story; I'd write one part, and give up. Whoa. And you know why I made it so far? All of my fans. Yep. People who've been around since the beginning, and people who just came on the scene alike. So, if you're all wondering what's happened to me, it's real simple. My life is super busy, and I just haven't had time to upload. Sorry! Hope you haven't all forgotten....but, To ANYONE who's reading this: READ ON!!! (Pssp....and....remember to leave a comment!) P.S., 14 pictures in here are without caption. I hope that`s okay....I didn`t want to clutter them with words.... READ ON! I walked into Math Class. It was 9:00 a.m., Monday, my very very unfavourite day. First of all, because I had to wake up really early (Mom dragged us out of bed at about 6:30 every morning) And, it was a whole 5 days till the weekend. Yet again. And, the girls in my class were jerks. I sat down at my desk, and yawned. A whole hour and 30 minutes till recess. And math problems to fill the slot. Who wanted that? Not me. I watched the clock. 1 minute down. So, an hour and 29 minutes left. Sheesh. School was just like a prison. (Not that I knew what prison was like. I had 0 personal experience! Ask someone else, why don't ya?) I leaned over to the girl beside me, Mariah. "Hey! How was your weekend? We found a stray puppy and fed it and everything." (Pssp....I had a crush on Mariah. She wasn't a jerk. And she was pretty. And she was nice. And and and...etc.) She smiled. "It was great we went skiing." Mrs. Wan, our math teacher walked in. "Sorry I'm late class. Please pull out your math textbooks." Mariah went on talking, like normal. "It was SO SO SO fun." Mrs. Wan looked at Mariah. "Glad you had fun, but it's Monday now. Math books, please. Andrew, could you read problem #1?" I turned around to see my two best friends ever, Drew and Leaf. They were late, and somehow, Mrs. Wan didn't notice. They wouldn't look at me though...weird. After math class, I got up. 10:30. 10:30 did nothing for me; at lunch I could hang with friends, and maybe with Laura too, but 10:30? Kaput. "Hey, Brandon!" It was Isaiah Gavigan. He and I had been really good friends WAAAY back in Grade 3, but we hadn't talked so much lately. Still, he was worth the wait. "Yeah? What?" He leaned in. "There's a new girl at our school." "A new girl? Here?" He nodded. "Yep. Her name's Brooke Gavigan, and apparently, she's a cripple." "A cripple?"
He nodded again. "Totally." I thought about. "Should we go say hi?" Isaiah smiled a little. "You can. I have to go work on some late science homework-y stuff." "Bye!" I raced off, out of the front doors. A new girl, a new girl. Maybe we could bond? Be friends? Maybe not, I thought. But still.... I zipped around the corner, eager. Recess was only so long. And I REALLY wanted to meet her. At our school, there were never new girls. And then I could tell Laura all about the new girl. Laura was usually interested in that sort of thing. Around ANOTHER corner. (Honestly, why were there so many corners?! It wasn't helping me!) I ran around Andrew, who said: "Brandon! Brandon, where are you going? Me and Leaf are heading-" "No time, explain later!" I called over my shoulder. I ran faster. There was probably about 5 minutes left! Why did I have to doddle so much? Waste of time! I ran right around the FINAL corner. (Thank Gosh) There were crowds of people standing around a wheelchair. Who is the new girl, I wondered, slowing down. People, MOVE! I wanted to scream. Then, the bell rang. Oh! Crap! I didn't want to go to class. How many other friends had she made? How was she getting around? I was right up close to her now....I could almost see her face.... "Hey, who are you?" The girl turned her chair around to face me. "I'm Brandon. And, on behalf of our non-handicap school, I say: Good luck getting upstairs!" She laughed. "I know! It's bad. I've seen worse, though. My last school, You could barely get in. No ramp, only stairs." "I'm Brooke," She introduced herself. I took a close look at her. She was pretty, and OBVIOUSLY funnier then most girls. My analysis: +++++++++++++++++ "So," I swallowed, "Are you paralyzed? Is that why you need a wheelchair? It's kinda, personal, but don't answer if you don't want to. I like knowin' stuff." She smiled, and stood up. "Nope. I'm not paralyzed, not a bit. Bone cancer in my left leg, since I was 8. That means I mostly use a wheelchair.Which can be fun. Sometimes it goes real fast, like orbiting a planet." I nod. "So.....what's your class?" She shrugged. "I dunno. I really don't want to be at school, but my Dad is always trying to keep me home, so I came." I smiled. "Wanna skip? And be back for lunch?" She nodded eagerly. "Friends?" I asked. "Friends." She agreed, and reached to shake hands. "So...where to?" Brooke thought. "My apartment would be okay, I think." She said. So, we set out. When we did actually get to her house, I felt super excited. Eeek! I was skipping school! Laura wouldn't be able to call me a goody two shoes ever, ever again. I rushed up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, by her door, we stopped. "So. I like your....exterior paint." I told her. She shrugged. "Not like it's ours. We're renting. And it's really overpriced. The plumbing is crappy, and one of the windows is broken. But, if something is home, I guess this is mine." We walked in. The first thing I saw, was a cauldron. Just like the one Laura and I had found? What was up with this? Was their some weird wizard who shoved cauldrons in people's houses? (Okay, it wasn't a house, but still.) Brooke looked worried. "Oh. Um, that. That's a.....a....it's a pot. Uh, yeah, that's right. We cook soup in it!" I looked at her. "No, I'd say that was a magic cauldron, thanks. I can see. My mom has one. And, I think my sister might...." Brooke looked relieved. "That's awesome! Now my Dad won't get super angry. He doesn't like it when the magically challenged find out about magic. Everyone in my family has powers. It's really annoying, actually, because my older sister has magic fights when you're using her stuff. I've been a frog at least once. I'm still M.C, though.That`s Magically Challenged, remember. Not Master of ceremonies." I nodded. "I know. Ever since my older sister found out last week, it's all "magic this, magic that, look what I can do, I'm levitating this globe,", and she totally cancels our plans, for her "Magical Training". Brooke widened her eyes. "That always happens. I always end up reading, or something." So, apparently I wasn't the only one who got the magic brush-off. I looked around, and spotted a piano. "A piano! Neat. Can you play?" Brooke blushed. "Sorta. Except, when I mess up over and over, My brothers send it to another dimension. So, I can only practice a bit. I can play something, if you want." I looked at the baby on the floor. "Don't worry," She said. "He's safe. We have a 'Magic' nanny. She only comes whe the babies cry. My Dad's such a cheap skate." "Cool. I don't really know music, but sure, play something." She sat down to play. She was better then 'Sorta' good. Her hands were fast enough, but she looked pretty thoughtful. I always had wanted (secretly, because otherwise Laura would mock me like crazy) to play piano. Mom had never signed me up, and the 3 weeks Laura was signed up, she hid 3 times each of those weeks. I started dancing. Brooke was going crazy on that piano. It was classical/jazz. If that was possible. I wasn't that good at music. Actually, I was pretty good at math, which was, unfortunately, VERY VERY VERY VERY Boring! She played a bit longer, and then, stood up. I clapped like crazy.



Brooke shrugged. "Not that cool. It's really boring, and it was only that good because I've been practicing like crazy. And, to prove it, I've been moved, with my piano, 5 times. So many wrong notes." I snorted. (Oink-oink) "I can't even play an instrument."
 " I`m sure you can do something else. Maybe. Probably." She corrected quickly. "I wonder if you dance. Cause that would be cool." I thought. "I can dance. My sister taught me `The Classic` dance. I could show you." She nodded. "Let`s get some music playing. Or, I could play and you could dance all by your lonesome, and then trip, because you might not have the skill to keep up.I`d teach you about not skilling" She said, joking, "Oh, I see. Well, let me show you my classic dancing skill." On went the music. And, we danced. And then, finally, we stopped. "That was fun! Apparently, you have skilll. Good job! That was amazing! More fun then the last baseball game I went to. And I love baseball..." Brooke gushed. I didn`t know what I was feeling, though. That dance was cool. But.... I felt a little different.... "Bran...." I shook my head. "What?" I said, dazed. "I said, let`s go. We want to eat lunch, right?" I nodded. "Math is long over. Let`s get back to school," I agreed. We walked down the stairs.... And down the street, back to school, unsure of my feelings, still. We walked back into our school some 15 minutes later. Lunch was already on. And, lunch was Laura time, mostly. Or, it used to be. I rushed into the cafeteria, with Brooke. I just wanted to find Laura, so I did a Laura scan. I had lots to say to her, and lots to ask. She was always the best at helping me think things through. I was so glad thaat our school shared the same cafeteria. (5-8 one side, 9-12 other side.) Laura always stood up for me. There she was! Sitting with another red head girl, at a table, with her half-eaten lunch. Laura never ate her whole lunch. It was a thing. I walked over. A boy walked up to Laura. "Laura? Ready? And, Kathleen? Ready?" Laura nodded, and made to get up. "Wait, Laura?" She looked up. "Can I talk to you?" She nodded, threw a "Sorry" towards her friends, and headed my way. We walked to the food table. "So....." She started. "What is it? What`s up?" I shrugged. "Can we chat? A wad a stuff happened, and I felt so excited. I really want to tell-" "Bran?" I looked up at her. "Yeah?" She sighed. "Brandon, I..don`t have time. I gotta go....it`s a magic thing, okay? I`ll see you at home, right? We`ll chat later." And, with that, she left me standing alone, like so many times before. Whew. There. And so concludes Chapter 5! Thanks for reading. Have a great week, everybody, and keep your eyes open for Chapter 6, the next Laura chapter. And don`t forget to leave a comment.     If Brooke has cancer in a family who probably came from Magicitia(I think that's how you spell it) wouldn't theyy have the ability to heal her? And what about the wheelchair? For most of the chapter, she was out of it! (huuuu...Magic, Shmagic logic) other than that, I liked the chapter, and it is nice to have a different perspective every now and then.;D
