Thank you so much once again for all those who read and commented with the 5th chapter of the story. Here's the next one. This time Jane and Lizzie encounter a different kind of vampire..when we think of a vampire what comes in to your head?
"I could have used this time to practice.." mumbled Lizzie as she noted an artifact. She turned to Jane and Riven. Riven was a businessman like Malcolm, he helps his uncel run the hottest places in downtown. But he was also an avid artist and a collector. The first floor of his place was an art gallery, a coffee shop and a bookstore. It was also a place where aspiring artists would gather and display their art works. But that had to give way for his uncle's artifacts. Riven was glad that Jane was there to help.
"We've got lots of work to do." told Riven to Jane.
"The artifacts are amazing." whispered Jane as Riven called someone. "Jane this is Savannah Morven. She's in charge here. Other artists who'd usually ahng out here are here to help as well." said Riven as he introduced Jane to Savannah. Jane flinched and felt uneasy. She heard that Savannah was Riven's ex-girlfriend. Jane though that Savannah was beautiful. She also heard that she and Riven shared a the same passion for the arts. Jane had too many things in her mind, Henry's upcoming wedding, their vacation in Mt. Glydwyr this weekend and The rogues, she didn't want to worry about Savannah as well. As JAne proceeded to help Riven, Savannah noticed Jane's younger sister who was astounded at one stand that displayed a medallion. "Those are replicas of the Sungod Medallion, the real medallion wasn't found during the excavaion. They were said to be the possesion of the mummy that we found." stated Savannah to Lizzie.
"Oh! Uh..really..?"asked Lizzie. Savannah noticed the medallion Lizzie was wearing.
"Wow...your medallion..it looks so much like it.." she noted as Lizzie laughed. "It's just a trinket that I bought from a store. Neat huh?" she told savannah but deep in her mind, lizzie thought that maybe the medallion she's wearing wa the real thing. After all she read from one of the spellbooks that the medallion was a gift from a priestess to her ancestors. The Lizzie noticed a mysterious looking man enter the place. "Who's that?" asked Lizzie. "That's Mr. Peregrine, he's an artist here as well. He's known to always wear black because until know he mourns for the death of his sibling.." whispered Savannah. "That's sad.." said Lizzie. After an hour of helping ,Lizzie turned to Riven and decided to ask for a break. She asked Riven where the paintings of the artists are since she wanted to look at some paintings. Riven led Lizzie to another room where some artists where aslo taking a break and statred painting.
"This place is amazing." said Lizzie as she started to wander around. She turned to a row of paintings, she saw a brown haired teen, one of the artists and the Mr. Peregrine. One portriat cuaght Lizzie's eye, it was that of a blonde girl in pink about her age.
"i wish I could paint like that.." Lizzie heard the brown haired mumble. "Hi! My name is Elizabeth Croft." Lizzie started as she introduce herself. "You're one of the artists here right? i saw you painting earlier." "Oh, I'm Monique Atkinson. I come here once in a while, painting is a hobby of mine here but I'm not that good." she said as she smiled sheepishly. Monique turned to the protait of the blonde lady.
" Wish I could paint like that, that painting is so full of life!" she admired. Lizzie had to agree. "Who's the painter?" asked Lizzie. Monique pointed to a woman in red not far away from them. "Her name is Alexis Samuels. She loves painting portraits of other people. She's really good in what she's doing. " continued Monique. The Monique and Lizzie heard Riven argue with Mr. Peregrine. The two ladies exchanged questioning looks as Monique sighed. "Mr. Peregine is the most disagreeable man around here. I dunno why..." After the two argued, Mr. Peregrine went away to calm himself down as Riven felt ill all oof a sudden. Jane turned to Riven. "Are you ok? What was that about?" she asked. Riven shook his head.
"He's saying strange things again.."moaned Riven softly as he saw Jane's worried gaze at him. "It's nothing..I just need some fresh air." Riven forced a smile and left the room. Mr. Peregrine eyed Riven as he left the room. He immediatley approached Jane. "You are close with that guy right? Maybe you can help me give some sense to him." he started as Jane was puzzled. "Okay so actually it's not that easy to give some sense to him...but..he is in big trouble..." continued Mr. Peregrine. "I know this is weird stuff but..a vampire is after him!" blurted Mr. Peregrine all of a sudden as Jane's eyes widened.
"Vampire? What do you mean?" she asked as her voice shook. "Is this guy bothering you sis?" inquired Lizzie as she butted in between the two.
" This is crazy..but the vampire eyed on Mr. Landgraab as the next victim..you must believe me. She's not the typical vampire who sucks blood or have grey skin..she looks like normal but she sucks the spirits of a person to her art..like what she did to my sister, Georgiana.." stated Mr. Peregrine as he pointed to the portait of the blonde lady. "She..? Her art?" asked Lizzie as visions of her dream the night before flooded in her head. She remembered a vague face of one of the vampires in her dream as Monique's words echoed in her head. 'Wish I could paint like that, that painting is so full of life!'
"Alexis! Alexis is not a vampire but one of Lucretia's ghouls!" exclaimed Lizzie all of a sudden. " I saw her painting Riven a while ago.. oh no..where's Riven? Where is Alexis?" asked Lizzie.
" I tried to warn him, he woulnd't listen he went outside, he felt ill all of a sudden." replied Mr. Peregrine.
"Lizzie come on, we have to stop her before she finishes the painting! You stay here."said Jane as she and Lizzie teleported out from the startled Mr. Peregrine's sight. The sisters appeared outside where Riven was. He was trying to get some fresh air but was obviously in pain though he didn't know why. They also spotted Alexis, painting nearby, she seemed to have followed where Riven was. "Riven! Riven! Are you all right?" asked Jane as she saw Riven was pale and unwell. "I'm not sure.." he said weakly. "Oh no! Alexis! She's right there and she's painting! " said Jane as she turned to Riven. "Stop!" called Lizzie as she lifted her arms and the startled Alexis found herslef floating in midair. With a gesture, Lizzie sent Alexis flying away from the painting before she could finish it. "Lizzie! Riven fainted! Was the painting finished! What now???" panicked Jane as Riven lay on the ground. "Hold on.. maybe if we destroy it, his life will return to him.." thought Lizzie as Alexis got up and laughed.
"Fool, that would be destroying that Landgraab as well." she mocked Lizzie. Alexis sighed and muttered. "That old man had to rattle out on me didn't he? I thought no one would believe him, I guess I chose the wrong victim this time." She got up as Lizzie glared at her. Alexis laughed and continued to mock them. "There's no way you can save your darling Riven now.Can't you see I'm doing him a favor? HIs beauty will remain immortal as one of my collections." "No..No.." though Lizzie as she clutched her medallion. Then an idea hit her head. "Hope this works.." she whispered as she spread out her arms. She focused all her energy to the medallion and felt a tingling sensation in her body. Faint blue light started to envelope her bdoy.
"What are you doing?" demanded Alexis as she stepped towards Lizzie. But the light shone brightly and shot up to the sky, blinding Alexis temporarily. Then the sky darkened, a thunder roared as Alexis realized what Lizzie was doing. Buckets of rain poured down from the sky. The rain started to wash down the paint on the almost finished portrait. Alexis watched in horror as the paint was slowly dissolving. "No! No! You- mage!!!"she screamed as she turned to the fainted Riven. Riven felt gentle rain on his cheeks, he got up and had no idea what was going on. "Riven!" exclaimed Jane as she beamed a smile. Lizzie was glad she learned to use the medallion yesterday. Now she had to face the startled ghoul, she wanted answers on what was going on and what were Lucretia's plans. Jane stood up as well. " So you've learned a few tricks? Well this isn't over. I should have known than to toy with you mages. Enjoy the medallion while you can.we'll meet next time." gritted Alexis as motes of dark orbs surrounded her. As the motes consumed her, she disappeared. Riven coulnd't believe in what he just saw. "What's going on?" asked Riven as he turned to Jane. Jane suddenly squeezed Riven in her arms. "I've got lots of explaining to do..there is something you should know about me, but right now, I'm glad you're all right." she whispered in his ear. Not far from the garden, Mr. Peregrine watched what was happening. He saw the dreaded 'vampire' who took Georgiana, failed in claiming another victim. He stared at the sky and enjoyed the rain. "if only I knew how to have set you're soul free earlier dear sister." he mumbled to himself as the rain continued to pour. Even though Alexis had escaped, he was satisfied that she failed to claim another soul and that there were good people who had special powers.
"You may rest in peace now dear sister, these sisters will make sure no one will end like you." declared Mr. Peregrine as he breathed in relief.
