Welcome to my Old Magic series. I would like to apologize for my grammar and speling errors(English isn't my first language). If you liked Shelena and Dina stories, you must know that I can't make more chapters. I tried to install seasons, but it was crushing down, so I lost everything. Please comment and rate:)

His name is Jarrod Thordon. He has blonde hair, long to his shoulders, and a red stubble. His skin is clear and his eyes are green, like fiery emeralds. But this isn't the reason that I can't drag my eyes off him. There is something else. Something...almost disturbing . He has something out of this world.
He stands nervous, in a class of twenty seven students of the first Highschool year. Professor Garet, our science teacher, gives us some information for him and his family. He moved to Ashpeak withhis mother from Riverina. His father and baby brother died in a car accident some years ago. Hmm, it seems that he didn't caught only my attention. Tasha Daniels is looking at him as well and her mouth, with it's red lips, is open. God, that girl is sooo...I give a look at Pecks, Tasha's boyfriend, but roumors say that she dumped him. Pecks isn't his real name. People started calling him like this in the fourth grade. I know it, I was there. None calls him with his real name, Angus John. Not even the proffesors. Pecks is the kind of guy who can turn your life into a living hell just because he thinks that it is funny. - Kate? Kate !
Hannah, my best-and only- friend, is looking at me with her big brown eyes.
- What?
- Are you all right? Your skin looks whiter than it's usual.
I'm smiling, trying to ignore her comment. I look white like a ghost, but I'm not. I like living here, in AshpeakMountain. It is snowining in winter, when at the rest of Australia is hot like hell in winter...I have long black hair, which I got from my dad. I've never met him. The only thing I got from my mom is my white skin. Her hair is brown or it was the last time I've seen her. My grandma, Jilian raised me. People here think that I'm Chinese or from Hawai.It is because of the strange,almond shape of my grey eyes. They also think that I'm a witch. They are right of course, but I'm not the typical ocassion. Jilian doesn't like granny or grandma stuff, so I call her with her name. Everyone here knows that she is a witch but they only THINK that I am. I'm still learning. As for my mom, she ran away when I was eight months old. I suddenly watch Pecks walking to Jarrod. Mr Garet doesn't notice. Since his wife took his kids to the kinder garden and ran away with the mail man, he lives in his own world.
- Oh,your hair is so wonderful! Are you sure that you aren't a girl, preety boy?
Jarrod is trying to escape from Pecks's hands. He looks very angry. Then, I realize something: Jarrod is different too !
- Oh my, look at the sky ! Dea Petoria screams.
Most of the students look outside. When I was walking to school, the sun was shining, but now a storm is coming. A window is breaking. Someone is screaming. Mr Garet goes out to check what's wrong.
- Kate what's happening?Hannah shouts.
- It isn't me Han!!! I am not powerful enough to control the weather !
Hannah is the only who knows for my powers. She helps me with some spells too, but she doesn't have any powers at all.
Everyone is screaming and some girls are hidding under their desks. Jarrod is talking to himself,trying to calm down. And then, he passes out. After that,the weather returns to normal and a few seconds latter Jarrod wakes up again.
-Someone has to take him to the school nurse. Mr Garet says.
None answers.
- I'll go.
I take Jarrod's hand and walk out with him.
- Beware of the Dracula preety boy !! Don't let her cast a spell on you !! Pecks laughs.
Ha ha.It's so funny. Jarrod doesn't seem to know about his powers. It's time for someone to tell him. Jarrod
My head is spinning. This girl is supposed to take me to the nurse, but we are out of the school building. Why did Pecks call her Dracula? I don't pay more attention. That guy is dump.
I want to ask her where we are going, but I don't remember her name. Jade, May...Oh, yes. Kate.
- Hey!I say
- What?
-Why aren't we at the nurse?
She laughs.
- Do you think that she knows what to do?
I don't answer and we keep walking. I grab her arm. Her grey eyes look preety strange, their shape from an almond's change to an egg's.
- Are you kidnapping me?
She gives me a weird look. Then, she laughs. Oh my God, this girl is unique!! Her laughter sounds like a melody in my head. She stops laughing and I shake my head, trying to calm down.
- I'm taking you to my grandma.
- Is she a nurse?
She smiles, the most beautiful smile I've ever seen.
-Well, not exactly, but she's much better than the school nurse.
I think that I trust this girl for an odd reason.Okey, I know it's her smile. We arrive at Kate's house. There is a small hut behind it.
- Why is this hut for?
Kate doesn't answer imidiately. She is thinking.
- It is a place where Jilian and I are practising our magic spells.
She says that so softly that I can barely hear her.
-Yeah,Okey. Magic doesn't exist.I say while we are walking to her bedroom.
It isn't big, it has a bed a mirror,a dresser and a small table with some candles.I decide to change the topic.
- Damn, what happened today at school?
-You don't know?
- If I knew, I wouldn't ask.
She is testing me. I can tell that from her expression. I don't like chalenges.
- I don't know what happened, okey? But I know that it was against the rules.
- Which rules?
- You know...daily rules I guess.
- You have no idea, do you? For what is happening to you I mean.
- Interesting. Go on Kate.
- Your power Jarrod !! You are very powerful, but you don't know it yet.
- Uh,are you a little weird, don't you think.
- You aren't the first person who says that.
- I'm sorry.
She smiles again. Sweet.
We are going to the kitchen. She serves some soup. We don't talk for a while. I look at her beautiful eyes. So weird but so charming.
- So, you are witches?
- Hm..kind of.
- Jilian and Kate. Not propper witch names.
- What did you expect to hear?
- Leticia maybe.
- Leticia? Was that written on a tombstone?
- No, it was my grandma's name. She looked like a witch you know.
- Maybe she WAS a witch.
- No way. This stuff don't exist.
- It does. She says softly.
- You can't convince me. It just...
- Don't tell me. It is against the rules right?
- Yup.
- Listen Jarrod. I saw what you can do. I saw your power. You need to be trained before you learn how to control it.
Now I'm sure. It hurts me because I like this girl. But she is problematic -in mind. There is no explanation for her. I yell.
- I think that I should go to the school nurse.
- Oh my! I shocked you, didn't I?
I'm leaving the table and I'm ready to go,but Kate stops me.
- Okey, you won. Forget about it.That noise came from Jilian's car. Come.

In such a little time, I found out a lot of things for Jarrod Thornton. The worst is that he has no idea for his powers, his gift I mean. He isn't confident and I'm wondering why. I also wonder what is Jilian going to think for him. It was always us, Jilian and me. Mom did'n send a letter, only once and it was for Jilian. It said that mom found happines with a singer and that she now lives in Sydney.
Jilian is walking to the kitchen, holding some paper bags. She smiles and I smile back. But it wasn't for long. When she saw Jarrod, her eyes opened wide, full of surprise. She looks funny,but something must be wrong. She is suddenly screaming.
- Jilian, what is it?
She points Jarrod.
- Snakes. I can see snakes.
Jarrod looks confused.
- To him?
- Yes. A vision I think. They're gone now.
She is cleaning the table, without talking. What is going wrong? Snakes are vicious creatures, it means that something evil is around....but I can't feel it !! We are leaving from the kitchen, heading to the living room.
- Jilian, I just met Jarrod and he seems okey. He isn't evil, he is just...a bit stupid.
- You have to forgive me, Jarrod says with his calm voice,but I must leave. Everything is very funy. When I find my sense of humor-in twenty years from now-, please give me a phonecall.
Oh great. Of course, I know what he's doing. Ignoring his rush, I run after him, trying to shoo his fear.
- Okey, okey, Jarrod. I can explain...
- Kate, I really don't wanna know. I just don't feel comfortable. I hate snakes, I had an accident with some snakes in my bed.
He is shaking.
- I'll never forget that.
He is walking to the door, but I stop him.
- Let me come with you. I'll just change my clothes.
- Uh, we have to wear a uniform at school.
- It's late. The school will finish in two hours.
Jarrod is thinking. He doesn't want to go with him.
- I suppose that I'll go home then.
- No, no. I'll take you for a walk. In my secret spot.
- O..okey.
Let's forget about magic,okey?

We are walking for a quarter to the forest.
- Kate,maybe some other time.
That means never.
- We'll be there soon, come on!!
At last, we reach her special spot. It has lots of trees, bushes, flowers and a small lake.
- Do you like it?
- Yeah, it's great.
But the only thing that I want to do is to run away from her and ask mom to move somewhere else.
Kate understands that.
- Listen, I'm sorry for Jilian's behaviour. She is a clever and loving woman and a great witch...She raised me when mom left us.
- And your dad?
- I've never met him.
Kate doesn't talk. She feels hurt inside. I can feel it.
- And your family?
- Well, my dad, Chris and baby brother Larry died when I was four. He was an alcoholic and he used to drive while he was drunk.
- I'm terribly sorry for them.
Ah, so do I.But I try to keep my feelings for myself.
- Anyway, mom and I moved in many places and had many accidents.
- Like..?
- Three years ago, mum and I lived in a town which was near a stream. It rained a lot one night and we had a flood. Our house was destroyed and mom had to work as a house cleaner.
- Oh.
- Mom broke her leg while she was skiing and our house was on fire two months ago.
- Maybe you are jinxed or cursed. Maybe that grew your powers.
- Kate, not again. Anyway, everything was lost. Except mom's family tree book.
- Awesome.
- Yeah. She has stoped writting it. We are in medieval England, in 1200 I think.
- Wow. Can I have a look at it?
- Sure, why not?
We say goodbye to eachother and go back. I swear, I saw her fly!

It is Friday afternoon. I haven't talked to Jarrod since we went to the forest. I'm sure that he's avoiding me. His new "pals'' are Jessica Palmer, Pecks (for God's shake!!) Pete O' Donnel and Her Majesty, Tasha Daniels.
Hannah and I are on the local coffee house, the only place in Ashpeak that teens can hang around. We are sitting in our fave corner, far from the door, so people can't see us. None talks to us and I can tell why. It's esy: I am the "Dracula", like Pecks says.Hannah doesn't have something,exept that she's my friend and she isn't a fashion freak. So, we are lonely, but happy I have to addmit. While we are drinking our chocolate, I see Jarrod and his "friends" coming. Oh great, I think.
- Look Kate! Tasha and Pecks together! I thought that they had broken up.
But I am not looking at Tasha and Pecks. Jarrod and Jessica are sitting on the same couch and he has his arms around her shoulders!! I try to stay calm, but I can't hold my self and I call Jessica names.Ooops, they heared me, but not what I was exactly saying.
- Hey Dracula! Do you sell your poisons here?
I am looking at Jarrod and he is looking at me too.
- Sure, you can have fun with her, but her grandma is the real stuff. I was walking out of their house and I saw blood on the grass, I swear! They have seen them, dancing naked in the forest. It is clear-Satan worship.
I'm thinking all of the spells that I know and I'm sure that a hormone spell, wich would fill Tasha's face with a grey beard fits great.
- Han, we should better go. Hannah and I take our jackets and we are ready to leave, but Pecks won't let us.
- Are you leaving? Babe, do you wanna miss all the fun?
- Shut up Pecks! Your mouth smells like frogs**ts.
- Ah, my little wild witch! Take me on your broomstick and let's go to yous house.
He grabs me and starts kissing my neck. I try to pull him away, but he is stronger. At the same time, Jarrod has an angry look on his face. His green eyes are on fire. Suddenly, everything is shaking. We are all screaming and act crazily. Pecks pushes me away and hides under a table. He is such a coward!
- YOU DID IT,DIDN'T YOU? I can hear Tasha screaming in my ear. But it isn't me. It is Jarrod. He is the only one who stays calm and isn't hiding or screaming. God, he is really powerful!! He just made an earthquake!
- JARROD, LOOK OUT!! I scream when I see a hanging lamp, ready to fall on his head. He can't hear me.I run, grab him and run out of the coffee house, leaving the others behind. Jarrod
I'm waking up,in a familiar room.
- Are you okey?
Oh, no !! I'm in Kate's bedroom! I can't believe my bad luck. She is holding a book and she is sittting on the floor.
- What happened? Why am I here?
- You don't remember?
I have to think.
- I was in the coffee house. You and Hannah were there. And I was with Jessica.
When Kate hears Jessica's name, she fills with anger.
- That's all?
- Uh...Pecks tried to kiss you and there was an earthquake.
Silence. Maybe I hurt her feelings. Her grey eyes are looking mine. She is really impresive, with her long, black hair and pale skin.
- Thank you Kate.
- Why?
- For saving me.
She opens her strange book.
- This book is filled with Old Magic Jarrod. It is unique you know.
- Ah, I see.
- Snakes are evil symbols. When many snakes are gathered around a person, it means that evil has taken this person.
I take a look at the book. It is a nice, big book, but I can't understand the language.
- How can you read it?
- It is an ancient way of writting, wich was used a thousand or more years ago. Jilian taught me when I was six.
In the next page, there is a strange picture of a creature, half man, half crow.
- What is this?
- Oh, a shape-swifter. Only very powerfyl sorcerers could do that.
- Kate, look at this: Legends say that only powerful sorcerers can cast curses, wich show up only in pure blooded family children.
Kate's eyes look much biger.
- How did you read this?
- It is English.
- Jarrod, a few seconds before, you said that you can't understand this !!
I know that she's right. I just can't addmit it. Kate
Jilian walks to the room, carrying a book.
- Jarrod dear, your mother called. I told her that you will sleep here, is this okey?
- Hm, yeah, thnak you very much.
- She came here and brought this book. Kate, you asked Jarrod for it?
- Ah, the family tree book!! Jilian, this will help us to destroy the curse!!
Jilian smiles and walks away. Jarrod's book is very interesting. It has battles, a picture of a casttle, wich belonged to Thorntons thousands of years before and the most interesting: a kidnap.
It says that, when the newlyweds entered their chamber,the groom's half- brother took the bride. The weird is that she was back next morning.
- I found the sorcerer. The half-brother of course!!
- Why are you so sure?
- It is quite simple: Both the groom and the sorcerer wanted the young bride. But she made her desision and the half- brother couldn't accept it. And after that, the batles didn't stop.
- I think that it makes sense...
We don't talk. Next morning, we woke up to find Helen, Jarrod's mom, sitting in the kitchen with Jilian. Jarrod looks confused.
- Mom, what are you doing here?
Mrs. Thornton doesn't look like her son. She has brown hair and eyes, but the same skintone with Jarrod.
- My boy, something happened last night. I was coming back from work and I realized that someone stole my purse. When I got home, everything was missing. Jarrod, someone robbed us!!
- Uh, when you say everything...
- I mean everything !! The television, your laptop, the radio and....and....
- And...?
- Karen is dead!!
- Sorry for the interuption, but who is Karen?
- My pet dog. AND SHE IS DEAD NOW!!
Jarrod can't hold his self. He is leaving the table and I folow him. Jilian asks gently Helen to leave. It is time for her plan.
I reach Jarrod and stop him.
- Listen, Jilian has a plan to stop all this.
- I will do everything to stop it. Even if it has to do with magic.
- There is only one way to stop it:Go back to time and kill the sorcerer.
- I will.
We are going to the small hut behind our house. Jilian is waiting.
- When you finish and are ready to return, remember these words:Ad silvam redire.
It is Latin.
- It means back to the forest. But listen: When you get there, you will be adults. But don't worry, you will be back to normal when you are back. You will be able to understand the language and you will wear medevial clothes. Jarrod, don't forget that you come from a honored family.
Jarrod waves ang gets my hand.
- Are you ready?
I don't answer, I just repeat the spell with Jilian. If we fail? This is my last thought before we leave.....
