yay! after disappearing fromTSR for a looong time, here's my next story. This story has long been on my mind and I just found the time to create it. This story is a sort of a retelling of the swan maiden legends, with my own twists and incorporating local legends as well. I guess this story was inspired by the local coke commerical (I just had to put the coke angel in the cover! ) and of Jose Rizal my favorite polymath ( can you believe he's a genius,doctor, writer, painter, scientist, sculptor, musician, magician, rake,a national hero and many more). Hope you guys enjoy reading this one.

And a shout out for warrayfinson, thanks to her she taught me how to use TSR again since I got confused after my absence. = ) This was the last thing on JOse's mind.To be lost in the middle of Grecian woods. After earning his second doctorate in Berlin, Jose was invited by his classmate Jason to stay in his place in Greece for the rest of the summer before returning to his homeland. A while ago he and Jason were horseback racing in the woods. The next thing he knew he fell off his horse and was lying in dirt. "Where am I? Where's my horse?" he thought as he stood from the ground.
"Jason!" he called as he scanned his surroundings. Was Jason playing tricks on him o is he really lost?
"Very funny Jason." Jose continued to call out.
It was getting dark, Jason was no where to be found. Jose needed o find his way back to civilization on his own. When he felt his head had cleared, he thought he heard a a faint voice somewhere in the woods. It was a song, someone was singing. Maybe that someone could help him. Jose peered through some bushes and saw a beautiful woman sitting near the riverbank. Jose was enchanted. She looked like a goddess to him. Her voice was perfect. The fireflies surrounding her only enhanced her beauty. Jose wanted to take a closer look when he stepped on a twig. "Who's there?"demanded the lady as she stood up. Jose presented himself then apologized. Then he explained to her his current situation and hoped if she could help him out of the woods.
"I know this woods very well, I'd love to help." the lady replied
Jose beamed. ''Thank you, I'm Theodoro Jose Armosillo. Just call me Jose.and you are?"
"Parhtenope..."
 Parthenope lead the way as Jose followed. As they were trekking Jose couldnt help but inquire at Parthenope.
"Um..why are you wearing that dress in the middle of the woods? Why a toga...?"
Parthenope reddened and glared at Jose.
"I--I'm an actress! I was praciting in this suit back there..."
"In the middle of the woods?"Jose thought.
"I'm still sort of shy..I'm nervous to go on auditions..."reasoned Parthenope.
"Really? Well i think you have an amazing voice."admired Jose as he remebered her song back there. "You know my friend Jason, is going to produce a play and i'm one of the wirters, would you like to audition there?" he offered. Parthenope stopped on her tracks. They were already out of the woods and into a familiar road.
"You're here. I'm happy tp help now good bye."said Parthenope abruptly when Jose held her hand.
"um..wait..please..so..would you like to audition..?"he asked.
"What would the play be about? Will there be singing?" asked Parthenope.
"It's about 5 Greek plays of love. The stories of Eros and Psyche, Apollo and Daphne, Orpheus and Eurydice, Pygmalion and Galatea, and Marpessa. If you like we'll meet here tomorrow morning at 10 am and i'll take you there to the auditions." offered Jose.
Parthenope was hesitant."All right, tomorrow.."she agreed then turned around. "I'll take my leave now, good bye." then she went on her way.
Jose smiled as he watched Parthenope leave then headed to his friend's residence.
 "There you are Jose! I've been worried! I've set a a search party for you! What happened??? if something had happened what would i tell your parents back in your homeland?" greeted the frantic Jason.
But Jose was deaf to all of Jason's rants. His thoughts were floating and all he could think of was the beautiful Parthenope and her enchanting voice. He looked forward to see her again tomorrow. He just smiled at the angry Jason, he cant wait to tell him about the girl he met after dinner. The auditions went smoothly the next day and Jason had to agree with Jose, Parthenope had the loveliest voice and she could act. She had to be in the play. "How did I do?"asked Parthenope to Jose after the auditions.
"You did great! You were chosen to play the role of Marpessa." said Jose.
" Marpessa?"Asked Parthenope. Her voice trailed off and she seemed nervous.
"You dont know that myth?"inquired Jose.
"I know that one..it's just..i'm a bit nervous..I hope i'll do a good job." she told Jose.
"I know you will. If you like you can stay at Jason's after the rehearsals and I'll help you practice your lines." he assured and offered her.
Parthenope noded her head. She was excited for her role. After each rehearsals in the theater, Parthenope was welcomed by Jason and would practice with JOse, her songs, lines, and acting. Jose was an amazing musician, writer and actor as well and Parthenope was thankful with his tutorials. The two became closer as they started to learn more about each other. Parthenope told Jose she lives alone and works at a flowershop. While Jose told her that he lives in the Philippines and he just finished his 2nd degree in Berlin where he met Jason. He plans to practice as a doctor when he gets home. After their extra rehearsals sessions, Parthenope would become Jose's tour guide and she would show him around Greece. She seemed to know her home country ver well and even the myths in each spots. Sometimes they'd just stay in Jason's place, and Parthenope would listen to Jose play the piano or read poems that he wrote. It's been 3months since they first met, the play would be held tomorrow.
Parthenope giddily tried on her costume as Jose asked if he could paint her. Parthenope agreed. Jose wanted to have a souvenir when he returns to his homeland. "Let me see!"Parthenope exclaimed as the painting was finished.
"Like Marpessa herself." declared Jose. "Or maybe like a goddess."
"Marpessa doesnt look like that.."murmured Parthenope. "Hm..? What do you mean?"asked Jose.
"Nothing,,what i dont understand is why would Marpessa choose the mortal Idas as her lover? I mean..Apollo, the Greek god himself has fallen in love with her and wanted her..She could have been a goddess,like Psyche!"she told Jose. " I think she was wise. Except for Psyche, women who were loved by the gods in greek myths seemd to end up in exile or meet dire fates." started Jose as Parthenope shook her head.
"but she could have been a goddess, an immortal! Why pass on Apollo himself? How about you, would you pass on Aphrodite?"she questioned. "Because she loved Idas, she'd chose all the joys and pains of mortality to be with him than be an immortal with a handsome yet faithless god." he simpy replied.
"I'd pass on Aphrodite, I dont want a tryst, I'd rather be with the one whom I love. And like Marpessa, when i have found my true love, I would do anything for her." he continued as his blue eyes shone. "Even give up immortality for her? Fight a god for her? Go to the ends of the earth for her?" teased Parthenope.
"Of course."replied Jose.
"then she must be really lucky.." she sighed.
"I hope, she'll realize that.."whispered Jose hesitantly as he gazed at Parthenope's eyes.

 Parhtenope blushed as she gazed back at Jose's blue orbs...
She felt her face gravitating towards Jose as she felt Jose caress her face whenshe heard someone cough.
"Um..ahemm..." The two paused and were embarassed.
"Oh...hi Jason.."chorused Parthenope and Jose.
"Am i interupting something?" he asked as Parthenope shook her head as no.
" Jose just painted me..i cant wait for the play tomorrow, wish me luck..i need to go home and prepare myself."she stammered while still blushing. "See you Parthenope. Good luck." bid Jason as Parthenope smiled and took her leave. "you seem smitten to her."noted Jason when Parthenope left. "What do you plan? you know you'll be returning to the Philippines a few days after the play. Be kind to her Jose, dont break her heart." he advised him. A week after that, Parthenope treated Jose to celebrate the success of the play. They headed out to a local Greek Tavern. Parthenope was thankful to Jose for giving her a big break and helping her with her lines and acting. After their dinner, while holding hands, the two took a stroll around the tavern. Parthenope flopped down and rested on the stone steps. She smiled at jose and told him.
"Why are you so tensed tonight? I brought you here to relax. All our hard work was worth it." she told him joviantly.
Jose smiled. "It's just,,i dont know how to say this.."he started as Parthenope gave her sweetest smile.
"What is it? I'm listening.."
"Parthenope, a week after this I would be leaving Greece and return to my homeland...and I.." he started.
 Jose knelt down and like magic pulled out a boquet of flowers out of nowhere. Parthenope blushed as Jose blurted. "But i cant bear to be away from you...Parthenope..I love you..will marry me? Will you join me?" Parhtenope stood up and was taken aback.
"Jose..."she blushed and gazed at how serious Jose was.
"You live alone don't you? Come with me, and we will live a life there.." he told her.
 "Oh Jose...I..I want to..but I cant..I..I love you too..But..it's so hard to explain...I want to be with you but I cant be with you.."she stammered as tears started to flow from her eyes. Parthenope turned her back and started to cry.
"I promise I'll take good care of you. But if you dont want to leave Greece..maybe we can work things out and stay here if you like.." spoke Jose as he wrapped his arms around Parhtenope.
"Still..I cant..Don't make things any harder..I cant be with you.." cried Parthenope.
"If we love each other..why not.."Jose asked.
Parhtenope swung around so she can be free from Jose's embrace and said firmly "Because..." "I am not who you think I am!"
Then A beautiful pair of feathery wings started to unfold from Parthenope's back.
"I'm a siren Jose..I am not a mortal..you see..my sisters..my brother..they will never allow us..that's why we can never be..."she told him as she started to flap her wings.
 " I wanted to try the play so I can learn more about humans..but I didn't expect I'd fall in love with you.."she continued as she flew away and tried not to turn her back.
"Farewell, Jose...I'm sorry.."she whispered and disappeared from Jose's sight. Jose was stunned. He looked in awe as Parthenope flew away. Parhtenope was a siren, a creature in Greek mythology that was so often misunderstood. She is part human, part bird, part goddess. A great beauty with a deadly voice.
"It cant be.."he whispered as he caught a couple of feathers in his hands.
"I wont let it end like this.."he told himself.
He had to find her even if he had to fight a god or go to the ends of the world...
