Tired of your old CAS house's look? Want your Sims to be created in a beautiful -- or ugly room? Note: If you have Seasons you may end up with sick Sims. "One way around this is to use the Base Game Starter Pro (free) from MTS2 and create your new CAS without the Seasons EP loaded," Moonlitmaiden

Are you as tired of your bland CAS house rooms as I am?Want to do something about it? If your answer is yes to both then join me in anew Neighborhood adventure.

FYI, There are no cheat codes involved.  Also, wewill be moving back and forth between your TS2 game and your computer.

I have broken this tutorial down into 4 parts:

Part 1. Beginning - setting up.

Part 2. Creating your new CAS house.

Part 3. Putting your new CAS houseback into game.

Part 4. Finish - Checking your new CAShouse.

Part 1. Beginning - setting up.

Step 1)  Open yourgame and make yourself a new neighborhood. Here I’ve selected a look-a-likePleasantville neighborhood. This does not have to be one you will ever actuallyuse again if you don’t want to; so, you don’t have to be fancy. The reason weneed a brand new, unoccupied neighborhood will become clear very soon.

Step 2)  Once youhave created your new neighborhood close/exit your game.

Step 3)   Now surfyour computer to find your CAS lot: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\[Newest TS2game]\TSData\Res\GlobalLots.

Step 4)  Copy yourCAS! File and paste it back into the same folder calling it CAS!(bak).  Thisway, should anything go wrong or you install a new pack that mess up your CAS,you will have the original CAS house available as a backup. To use it again, just erase the “(bak)” part and voila your have the original CAS house.  The 2nd file YACAS! is for your University pack, if you have it, and can be altered aswell, but we are going to work only with the CAS! house today.

Step 5)  Copy theCAS! file again.

Step 6)  Now pasteyour CAS! house into your game by following this path: C:\Documents andSettings\[Your Name]\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\LotCatalog.

Step 7)  We willrename it after the last or largest number plus one. For example, the largestnumber is cx_00000083, so I will rename the CAS! file to cx_00000084.

Part 2. Creating your new CAS house.

Step 1)  Open yourgame again and scroll to the house named jkgbkyuv. It is very noticeablebecause the lot seems to be hovering in a field of dark blue.  Put the lotanywhere in your empty neighborhood.

Step 2)  Enter thelot.  FYI, two objects cannot be deleted. All the objects you see in the tworooms are actually only 2 individual objects (one per room). The room on theright where you see a mirror, pictures, etc. is one object; and the room on theleft with the camera, lighting, etc. the 2nd object. These cannot bedeleted.  (You can actually change these, but that would be another tutorial.)You can, however, change everything else -- walls, floors, windows … Gowild and enjoy.

Step 3)  Here youcan see what I did with my rooms. After you are done being creative, save andclose your game.

Part 3. Putting your new CAS houseback into the correct game folder.

Step 1)  Your newhouse is found inside the highest numbered folder in C:\Documents andSettings\[Your Name]\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods\[HighestNumbered Lot]\Lots.  Here is the reason you want an empty neighborhood.  Asyou can see, your CAS house is the only one in the bin, which is a WHOLE loteasier than searching through a couple dozen lots! Copy the lot.

Step 2)  Return toyour program file: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\[Your TS2game]\TSData\Res\GlobalLots and paste the house in the folder

Step 3)  Rename thehouse to CAS!  Note that your original is still sitting all safe and sound withits new name, CAS!(bak).

Part 4. Finish - Checking your new CAShouse.

Step 1)  Open yourgame, select any neighborhood and once open choose to Create a Family.

Step 2)  To checkout your CAS all you need to do is make a Sim or create an entire family.

Step 3)  Click thecheckmark when you have finished creating your Sim(s) which will open yourviewing room. Looks good to me. J Now you will be able tochange your CAS house any time you want to.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. I am still working onthe video tutorial for your neighborhood screen and will have it readyeventually. J Smiles and happy wishes, CT
