This was an awesome tutorial, but in TS3 it can't be used as an attached garage simply because of the questions listed in this comment section.  The bottom of the garage is the only thing that shows and you can't overlap the garage to get a full garage.   I searched for a tutorial on split level housing which was a bit more complicated than this one.  This is great for split level or sunken rooms.  You can overlap the windows using the "moveObjects on" code.  If there is some workaround, I would love to know, but for now, as a newbie to building houses, I guess I'll have to stick to adding unattached garages or building them under the house with a sloped driveway.

princess kitty156 and Isis-Nefe:  The problems you're having are probable due to one (or more) of three things:  1) your garage isn't wide enough - you must have at least one extra tile between the house and garage for the angled wall; 2) you're trying to place your garage door too close to the house, you cannot place it in the one tile space directly adjacent to the house; 3) you didn't remove the foundation clear up to the house so your angled wall isn't in the space directly adjacent to the house.  If you check all of these things but continue to have problems, please pm me and we'll see if we can work through it together.  Jackie

Thank you very much. I saw a similar tutorial but it did not say which floors you needed to be on and I wasn't able to get the proper results. Your tutorial had all of the information I needed. I combined the info from this one with info from another tutorial (sunlit basement by Gosik) and put an indoor swimming pool in the garage and had windows from the pool to the basement. It looks pretty awesome. Next I think I'll see if I can add an attic to this creation.

For those having trouble with the partially hidden Garage door, please refer to step 5 and look at the picture. Notice how the green selection tiles start on TOP of the wall? http://images.thesimsresource.com/scaled/1256/w-813h-650-1256770.jpg  If, when you use the level terrain tool, you notice that it is trying to start from a lower floor, place a floor tile on the lower part of the upper level (that is, the level that you are supposed to have the terrain tool on). Even if you click Undo afterward, it seems to let you keep the terrain tool on top of that level. If not, try keeping the floor tile there. Then follow the steps as listed. If you did it wrong, the lowest wall on the garage will be short and squished down. If you did it correctly, the bottom garage wall will be normal size and the floor above it will be squished (as in pinecat's image http://images.thesimsresource.com/scaled/1256/w-813h-650-1256771.jpg). What is happening when the terrain leveling starts from a lower level is that it is squishing the lower level rather than the higher level, thus the door will be intersected by the wall. Another useful tip: I recommend putting doors in before stairs. If you have stairs a tile away from the wall where you want the door it will tell you the door can't intersect the stairs, but it will let you place stairs after you have placed the door.

Ok I just tried my first attached garage following your tutorial. I did ok, but why does my foundation seem elavated and the entry where my stairs go in the garage leading into the house is way up.
