Castlelot was never intended to be taken seriously. It began as a sort of building doodle, just for fun and not really intended to go further than that.
It isn't a castle - it isn't even a lot of any one thing; perhaps at a stretch of the imagination it could be a sort of 'halfway house' ' between the dire conditions of the
middle ages and the more comfortable and aesthetic ones of the early-renaissance period- but at best, that is a stretch and one I won't impose if you find it difficult. Just view Castlelot from the angle that it isn't representative of any individual era . . and we have a deal.
There is no electicity connected at Castlelot - therefore, no appliances or entertainment media. However, a modicum of plumbing has been installed, basically for health and hygiene reasons . . . it is basic and apt to cause problems, hence some of the necessities of prior days still persist - vis a vis the wooden pails.
Castlelot is 3 levels of solid stone block construction. All the turrets and defence structures have been phased out long since, and modern [for the time] roofing has replaced thatch and shingle . . but for the most part the interior remains in it's original state, even to retention of the weapons rack in the room which would have been directly behind the portcullis at the end of the drawbridge. This was where visitors would be required to leave their weapons for the duration of a visit. Large fireplaces are still in use on 2 floors, in an effort to heat the very large areas of living space- with varying degrees of success.
The ground level is taken up by the heart of the original castle . . .the Great Hall, and the kitchen. . . . a small dining alcove off the latter is a more recent addition. The wine cellar is long gone, as are the dungeons, but a small-scale barrel room has been re-established with current vintage from local grapes; this is located adjacent to the rear door, with access from the kitchen.
Games and study were not completely unknown - there is provision here in the Great Hall for checkers and chess as well as a corner for the reading and writing of scrolls. The castle ledger is updated here as well.
Single width wooden stairs lead to another living space on the second level. Here are the residents precious books and the liquor supplies, and the core of the family's entertainment -a magnificent piano. Two open fireplaces do their best to keep conditions comfortable. A small twin bedroom is located behind one of these, and the chimney helps make this little room quite cosy.
Top floor is the master's domain. Bedroom, dressing alcove, bathroom/privy, and a sittingroom in what was once the castle chapel - note that the beautiful stained glass windows of the old chapel, have stood the test of time and still cast their warm glow over this room when the sun reaches them.
The moat remains a feature of Castlelot and probably always will . The bridges at front and rear are as sturdy as when first laid down . . . however, the laundry stones to the left of the back bridge, are showing signs of wear - well, understandable really - but they will see out many more years of daily clothes bashing should it be necessary.
There you have Castlelot. Oh . . and that Sir Knight leaving a-pace by the back meadow? . . . . . never did find out who he was. . . . . you might have more luck!

The TSR Creations below were used in this Creation.
By a mischance, Castlelot was placed on the odd shaped lot at Stoney Falls . . . 53 Waterfall Way . . and this is the only 36x47 lot available. I had intended to rebuild on a more conventional lot, and in fact have done most of the work on that, before deciding that one version was sufficient for the time being!! if anyone would rather the 30x40/40x30 version, then let me know.
I have all EPs, Stuff Packs and patches installed. Do not re-upload or claim as yours.
