No problem, glad I could help. I actually found a guide that also uses Paintshop. Maybe you can get an idea how to get started?
It used most of the programs I mentiond

Good luck!

Hi! It's totally fine, go ahead and fill up my guestbook, I always get happy when I see new messages
I actually use severall programs when creating cc. I as well use Sims 4 Studio. Do you mean that you can only edit meshies in that program? Cause when I do recolors I use that program, and I can recolor everything just fine.
The other programs I use are Sp4e (wich is a bit confusing if you're new)
I also use Color Magic. When I'm creating new meshes I export files from Color Magic and then you have to convert the files to Sims 3 files (I know it's weird) This is beacause Milkshape (that I use when I edit meshes) only can read Sims 3 packages. I Use CMAR's Geom Converter for that.
Also, I don't use Photshop. I'm a true GIMP fan! But neither Gimp or Photoshop reads the dds files I edit so you'll need a plugin for that. Ofcourse, ther is always Blender that maybe easier to use, but I'm quite new to that program.

I really hope I didn't make it more confusing for you

You can however start by just making recolors, that maybe easier to start out with.

Check to seee if you have the latest version of the Sims ¤ studio.
Then when you start it up, make sure you check the "Make standalone" box and then click, make recolor. After that you need to export the texture to a dds.
Save the dds soewhere and then open it with Photoshop or Gimp. Remember, you need a plugin for the program to be able to read dds files.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you need help, I'll only be glad if I can help you!
