TSR downloads are safe

The release of a new expansion pack has traditionally been a time of upheaval for custom content makers. For Sims 3, we decided that all TSR custom content should be made into 100% compatible Sims3Pack files that match EA's specification for game content to give us (and you) the best chance of moving through patches and expansion pack releases without any troubles. Not everyone was happy with the decision, but sticking to EA's native game format was a wise decision that's already paid off. The recent patch and upgrade to World Adventures has caused problems for many in the community, but we're happy to say that our Sims3Packs have remained a 100% safe download format. The few files we have on offer that have caused problems has not been due to the Sims3Pack format, rather an error on the creator's part.

The Sims3Pack format:

  • Is properly recognised as custom content
  • Is installed correctly and can be deleted easily
  • Won't slow down your game
  • Won't crash your game
  • Should remain compatible with future patches and packs (unless EA mess up their own content as well)
  • Will package with uploaded lots automatically
  • Can be removed individually even when installed with a downloaded lot

These are all the reasons why we offer Sims3Pack files only (and why TSR Workshop will only output Sims3Pack files). We do our best to guarantee trouble-free Simming and Sims3Pack files have proved themselves to be a safe format for coping with the upgrades.

TSR is the only custom content I have downloaded. I tried the package files a couple of times and anything that was frustrating me that much was just not worth it! I'm glad you're sticking to the most user friendly format. I plan to keep renewing my subscription!

I love TSR.  \:\)  Had so many frickin' problems, and come to find out it every one of them was caused by package files.  Ugh.  Anyway, every time I come here, my virus scanner has a fit and browsers routinely die, have to visit this site with all shields on high alert and with my special anti-virus HAZMAT suit on.  *tsk, tsk*   Can you fix that?  I came over here to renew my subscription and then I remembered why I stay away.
It is the best organized site in the history of the universe, you know.  \:\)
Er, some of MangoSim's files were cloned from either the fig plant, the orchid, or the foosball table -- all known to have problems playing nice with WA, if not created with the tool over here.

My sims 3 still won't work. Tried uninstalling everything about 3 or 4 times now and it still crashes my computer. Is it something to do with my dowloads on it, having too many?? Or did I just install it wrong. Been going on for months now, hopefully getting a new laptop will sort it out. Please help me \:\(

Hopefully someone can answer this question, but after installing items, my computer wouldn't start and now it sometimes says when I load it Windows is trying to find what is wrong, is that because of TSR?\:\(

i installed sims 3 a long time ago and i played it without any resources etc. with some expansions like pets and seasons and it played well. A year later i wanted to play sims again and i also installed resources and the first 3 times it did go well, but after 5 times i played it it started to crash after 40 minutes. Then i deleted everything en reinstalled the sims. Then i played it again with a new save. The first times it played well and after 6 times it started to crash again and now it crashes after 10 minutes.

Can i do anything about it without removing or deleting my saves?

I came here to find out why it said, "These files might be harmful to your computer" I mean, I get that a lot when I'm downloading stuff that I made sure was safe.. but then my computer game me a message when I tried to open it saying, well.. I can't remember it word by word buuutt it went something like this: "This file may cause serious problems to your computer, are you sure you want to open it? (Ok - Delete From Desktop)" Or something along those lines. I'll keep researching before I allow it to open. And also before I go, on your site I like... ONLY see package files. Can that hurt the downloader?
