This is Shannon, a smart beautiful woman who unfortunately has more luck falling in love with the guys in her romance novels than with the guys in her real life. Her first home was quite an acomplishment, it's small and quaint, but has everything she needs to start a new life in downtown Pleasantview.

Will she find someone here who can sweep her off her feet like the Prince Charmings in her books?
That's all she ever seemed to think about. Smelling the fresh spring air and admiring her blooming daisies Shannon wondered about what this new change, new house and new town could bring.

Looking next door, Shannon noticed someone coming across the street waving at her.
"Hey! Neighbor!" the woman shouted, "you get moved in okay?"

"Yes, thanks. Are you next door?" Shannon replied.

"Yep, that's me," the woman extended her hand, "I'm Lenora, I live next door with my brother Orlando. We just moved in last year."
"It's nice to meet you," Shannon smiled shaking Lenora's hand.

"Have you had a chance to hit any of the shops downtown yet? There's some really neat bookstores," Lenora smiled back.
"Nope just finally got settled in, I'm still living out of boxes mostly," Shannon chuckled.

"Well, let me know if you need someone to hang out with. It's pretty boring around here unless you've got someone to talk to," Lenora said, "I used to get bored around here a lot, but at least I have my brother. Do you live with anyone?"

"Nope, just me right now." Shannon answered.

Lenora nodded and said, "Well, I gotta get back and get dinner started. Big bro would starve without me."

"Yeah, hey...I know we just met and all, but since I'm new in town do you want to come over and have dinner? I finally got my kitchen figured out and I wouldn't mind some company," Shannon shrugged, "you can bring your brother along if you want, that way I can get to know someone around here."

"Sure, that sounds like fun. Goodness knows I could use a break for one night. Orlando is a helpless cook, but usually I can talk him into doing the dishes," Lenora laughed as she headed back over to her house.

"See you around 7 then?" Shannon shouted.

"Sounds good," She yelled back with a wave dissapearing into her house next door.
Shannon spent the next several hours setting up her cable, phone service, and other utilites.

"I can't entertain anyone when I don't even have football available," Shannon giggled at herself.
After finishing up on the phone, Shannon checked her fridge. She'd gone out shopping the day before but didn't remember if she had bought anything that would make a decent dinner for her and some guests.

"Well, at least I have beer," she thought staring at the top shelf. She grabbed some ingredients for her "famous" Noodles and Veggie soup and started mixing it all together.
Already it was getting dark outside. Her first night in her new house, whew...she could hardly believe it. Then she started to wonder about Lenora's brother, "hmm, I hope he's cute," then she mentally kicked herself for not even asking if he was available.

Then outloud to herself she said, "Wow, I must be getting desperate....thinking about dating the guy down the block on my first day here." Then she heard the doorbell.
Shannon invited her new neighbors inside, smiling at Lenora as she took a seat next to her brother.

"Orlando, meet Shannon, Shannon meet Orlando," she smirked and then asked, "So what's for dinner?"
"Nice to meet you," Shannon said trying to read his eyes...was he here just for a free meal?

"You too," he answered shooting an accusing glance at his sister. She shrugged back at him. Then Shannon figured it out....Lenora was playing the match-maker.
"Um," Shannon said trying to interrupt the akward silence that followed his accusing stare, "We're having some soup I used to make back in Gretna. In fact, I'd better get it off the stove it's been simmering for a while now." Shannon got up and headed for the kitchen.

As she left she heard Orlando say, "Lenna, Sis, seriously, why are you always trying to fix me up?"
"Cuz you need it," she playfully answered back as Shannon chuckled and threw the last bit of seasoning in the stew. As they ate a moment later Lenora went on and on about her brother, saying that he'd graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in Economics and was looking into starting his own business. When Shannon looked over at Orlando, his cheeks seemed to get redder and redder as his sister gushed on about him. Finally he let out a big sigh and said, "Hey Sis, I'm sure Shannon here doesn't care that I'm a big geeky nerd, okay?" He grinned and shook his head.

Then turning to Shannon asked,"What about you? Where did you move from?"

"I'm from Gretna, it's a tiny town a long ways from here. I was just looking for the perfect place to get a fresh start," she replied. Then to herself thought..."yeah, too many ex-boyfriends around there."

"Where'd you go to college?" he asked, looking genuinely interested.

"U-N-O for a long time until I graduated with a degree in business," Shannon smiled at him.

"Ah, so you'll be good to know when I decide to get my business off the ground," he chuckled back.
Lenora sat there in the satified silence of a "job-well-done" as the meal ended and then said, "Well, we've gotta get going. I need to get up early for work in the Puppy Palace down the street. It was really terrific of you to have us over." As they were leaving, Orlando stopped just inside the door and said, "It was really nice meeting you, Shannon." Shannon giggled stupidly, "Yeah, you too."

He shrugged, "Heh, it's good to make a new friend. Even if it is all my sisters fault."
Smiling he continued, "I'd really like to call you sometime, maybe I can show you around downtown?" Shannon's grin got larger, "I'd really like that," she said giving him her phone number.

He took the number, nodded and then left with his sister who was demading if he'd gotten Shannon's number.

Shannon chuckled and headed upstairs to go to bed.
Later, as she finished Romeo and Juliet for the one hundreth time, Shannon thought, "Maybe my Prince Charming can be the guy from down the block...I guess I'll have to wait and see."
