(Author's Note: Hope you like this chapter! By the way, in one scene the light changes from dark to light, just kinda ignore it. While I was "shooting" this episode, the time changed. :) "Penny, lower your voice, please! You haven't let me explain yet!" Mom told me. We sat down on the couch and I explained the night where I saw her kiss Brian's dad. Mom shifted. "Honey, we're just friends. I've known him for a long time." Really? I thought. How come she's never told me this? "Oh," I said, because that was all I could manage. Was this all really just a misunderstanding? A few weeks later, Brian, me, Mr. Brown, and mom sat in the living room talking. When Mr. Brown dropped Brian off, he just had to come in too and so mom was chatting away with him. Suddenly, I heard a car pull in the driveway. I looked outside. Dad was home from his trip! I ran outside along with Brian, who had decided to go wait in the car for his dad. "Hi, dad!" I said. "Hey, sport." Dad replied, giving me a warm hug. Dad walked in and put his sweater on the coat rack. I was a few steps behind him, and while I took my coat off I heard dad let out a yell. I ran in after him to see what was happening. "Dad! What's going-" But I saw it. I would have been grossed out to my mom making out with somebody on the couch, but it just felt like someone punched me in the stomach. I gasped for breath. I could sense pain on dad's face. Mom scrambled off the couch. "Dave? What, what are you doing home?" she tried to ask innocently. "This isn't what it looks like?" she tried. It sounded more of a question to me. Oh yeah, mom, you were just "friends" making out. "You know what, you've gone way too far this time. Sure, we had some fights, but we would've patched it up. But you ruined it, and it's too late!" dad shouted. "And I can't believe you already had a husband! How could you? You're disgusting!" Mr. Brown added. So he didn't know? Mom must have lied to him! "Both of you, get out of my house!" Dad yelled. Mom covered her face. "No, please, don't do this Dave!" He shook his head. "You totally broke my trust. I'm getting a divorce. If you want to spend your life with that guy, then fine. Both of you, go run off together." He said. Quietly, he added, "Just don't make me watch." No, dad, no! I knew he was mad, but did he have to divorce mom? They could get over this! And maybe in twenty, or, fifty years, they would laugh about this! No, don't break up with her dad! I silently begged as tears plopped onto the wood floor. Mom started to leave, sobbing. "Ah-are, are, youu shhuure?" She stammered through her tears. Dad looked back at her, then me. I shook my head feverishly. No, don't! I pleaded in my mind. He glanced back at mom. He hesitated, then nodded slowly. "Yes." Covering her face, mom ran out of the living room, swiped her coat, and flung the front door open. "Mom, wait!" I called. I didn't know what to say, I just didn't want her to go. Mascara smeared over her face, she said, "Penny, we'll see each other again. But I have to go. I've hurt too many people, and your father wants me gone." I felt hurt myself. "Mom, I can't believe you lied to me. That's really painful for me." I said. Mom cringed, and tried to hold back tears. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." She replied, wiping her face. She moved down the street. I watched her until she disappeared. A week later after that incident, I was still moping about it. This was terrible! Just when life was going well, it turned for the worst. I guess my life will always be messed up.
I sighed. For the past week, I've been avoiding dad, and since we have the week off from school I haven't talked to Brian, or anyone. I still wished Josh would say sorry. Like that would ever happen.
But, just like a dream, Josh showed up with an apologetic look to his face. He ran to me and grabbed me off the couch. Gripping me in a bear hug, he spun me around. "Penny, baby, I'm so sorry! For everything!" I couldn't help but smile. Doesn't this only happen in the movies? "Um, Josh, not to be rude but; why are you here?" I asked. "I mean, why did you pick this time to say sorry?" "Well, I knew what a jerk I had been. Through all of it. I don't like Patty. I never did. I always liked you, Penny." He said. In my head, I said "Awww." He brought me forward, and he closed his eyes. But I kept mine open. What is he doing? I panicked. "Wait, Josh. I can't. I'm going out with someone." I said. Josh looked hurt. "Who?" he asked. "Brian." The pain washed from Josh's face. "Brian the Brain?" He laughed. I crossed my arms. "Josh!" I couldn't help but laugh too. "Sorry, sorry." He said, wiping his face from laughing so hard. "Look, Penny, I need to tell you something. My family told me yesterday that we're moving to Simifornia. Which means we'll probably never see each other again." He told me. My heart sunk. I know he was a big jerk, but I was going to really miss him. I put my arms around him. "So this is really goodbye?" I asked, hoping he was pulling my leg. But he was dead serious. He nodded. "Yeah." I hesitated, but I think kissing him goodbye was the right thing to do. I knew that I would be wondering for the rest of my life, why didn't I kiss him before he left? I was never going to see him again, and it's not like we would get back together again. Brian was my boyfriend now. Oh, Brian. I felt guilty instantly. I almost cried, but I was all cried out from mom and dad's divorce. I gave Josh a warm hug and closed my eyes for a few seconds. "Bye Josh." I whispered. "Bye Penny." He whispered back. After we exchanged phone numbers so we could text, I watched him go. Seems like everyone in my life was leaving. It felt good to know we made up before he left. Why was I even mad at him? Oh yeah, Patty. Patty! I had to call her. But, I also needed to call Brian and talk to him about his dad and my mom. I picked up my cell phone and flipped it open. Two New Texts! It said. I opened them.
Patty: Hey girl, I need to talk to you. Now. Meet me at Sunbucks in ten minutes.
I looked at the second one, from Brian:
Penny, we need to talk about what happened between your mom and my dad. It's really urgent, please come to my house. I gotta tell you something.

I wasn't sure who to choose. They were both important people in my life, and I wanted to see what both had to say. I opened my phone and replied to one of the texts. I just hope I picked the right person.
