Beginning of the end of an era...

*sorry for the lengthy delay, I hope you enjoy the chapter*
Belle Lascaux, soon to be Garden, gazed the blue, blue sea. It was finally her wedding day, the day she had been waiting for years already. Not that marriage and saying the vows would change things that much between Belle and Broad Bean. It was just nice to tie the knot, finally.

The two other Belles had offered their help with the wedding arrangements but Belle had kindly refused. She didn't want anything lavish or big, just a simple ceremony on the beach, wearing the same dress she had worn when Broad Bean had proposed to her. The two Belles had been shocked but they had understood that it wasn't their place to say anything.
The wedding party was indeed a simple affair. Sure, Belle and Broad Bean were wearing their best clothes but they had told to their guests that they were free to wear anything they wanted.

Broad Bean was surprised to see that his little niece Cranberry wasn't so little anymore. She was a teenager already and there were lines around Broad Bean's little brother Black's eyes too. Time was already showing its subtle effect on the Garden family, Broad Bean sighed but then quickly brushed the thought away.

It was his wedding day after all.
The party started off quite nicely but then to everyone's surprise, one of Broad Bean's "colleagues" started to act strangely. Obviously the old man had had a bit too many juice shots and the sugar had gone to his head. Or that's what the other sims thought. There couldn't be any other reason for a guest to start calling the groom's niece names, could there?

The situation was saved when the old man saw Black Salsify's buff figure appear and walk towards the troublemaker. He quickly vanished and peace returned.
- Belle Lascaux, the day I laid my eyes on you for the first time must have been my luckiest one. You were so beautiful, and not just from the outside. And now that I look at you today, you still take away by breath. You will always be the most beautiful woman in my eyes no matter what. Today, when we finally are tying the knot, I couldn't wish for more. You are my life, my love, my friend, my everything. For eternity. The guests were holding their breath as they watched Broad Bean slide the golden ring into Belle's finger. The two other Belles had tears in their eyes and even Broccoli had to clear his throat for couple times.

The seagulls were shrieking high above and the sound and smell of the sea were intoxicating.

It was such a beautiful day.
Broad Bean kissed his wife, the now third Mrs Belle Garden. There was nothing else that mattered but that moment. The faint flowery scent of Belle's soft hair, the feel of her skin and her heartbeat. She belonged to him and he belonged to her, it was written in the stars.

He would protect her, cherish her, make her remain happy. It was his duty, the purpose of his life.

Later that evening Broad Bean carried Belle to their new home.
Cherry's birthday was celebrated silently, only Broccoli and Belle were there to attend. Broad Bean and his Belle were still on their honeymoon and Black Salsify and his family were too busy to attend.

But Cherry was such a sweet child, she didn't mind. She smiled happily at her parents and squealed of laughter when Broccoli put her into bed.

Life was indeed happy in the Garden mansion.
Couple months later, to her vast surprise, Belle found herself throwing up constantly. This time it took her only couple visits to the bathroom to realize that she was pregnant.

Belle couldn't help thinking how happy her life was. She had a loving husband, a beautiful house, sweet daughter and another child on the way. She had enough money to concentrate on her dreams, tending the garden her late father-in-law Asparagus left there, and taking care of little Cherry.

If she ever had any doubts about marrying Broccoli, they were long gone. Marrying Broccoli had been her best idea ever.
So days passed by calmly. Belle concentrated on teaching Cherry the important things like talking and such. And Cherry was a quick learner, a clever little thing. She had interest in everything, there was nothing she found boring.

She was eager to learn and as soon as she learned to talk, she babbled happily about everything to anyone and everyone loved her.
While Belle took care of Cherry most of the time, Broccoli didn't let her hog their daughter completely. He was happy to teach Cherry to walk and use the potty chair, for which pregnant Belle was very grateful. Belle's pregnancy advanced steadily. She spent her days taking care of Cherry and painting, Broccoli had sternly told her to leave the gardening to him. Even if Black Salsify had allowed his wife to do such tiring job when she was heavily pregnant, Broccoli wasn't going to do so. He loved Belle way too much. The night Belle went into labour Broccoli called Broad Bean's Belle to take care of Cherry and then he jumped into his police car, racing to the hospital with Belle. Belle rolled her eyes as she waddled to the hospital's entrance hall. Sure, giving birth wasn't exactly fun but to have an overly nervous and panicking husband didn't make it any easier. By the time of sunrise Belle was holding her second daughter, little Cauliflower. Years passed and both Cherry and Cauliflower grew up and from the very first moment the girls met each other, they were best friends.

Belle and Broccoli loved watching their little girls play with their dollhouse together, although at times they had to go and check that Cherry and Cauliflower weren't choking on their dolls.
As with Cherry, Broccoli and Belle did their best to teach Cauliflower everything she needed to know.

Though this time Broccoli left the potty-training to Belle.
Cherry was such a happy little girl. She had never known anything but love and happiness so naturally she only reflected that to others. Even the Gardens' maid got her share of Cherry's sweet smiles and cute babbling.

No wonder why everyone adored her.
But Cherry's birthday was celebrated the traditional Garden way, which is no celebration at all.

This time Cherry felt a bit left-out but her sweet nature didn't allow her to show her disappointment. After all, someone could have felt offended, and that was something Cherry didn't want.
In a minute there was another un-noticed birthday. Broccoli sighed as he felt his whole body go from muscular and well-built to frail, shaky and stiff. Maybe it was time to retire and concentrate on painting?

But on the other hand... That thief was still roaming around Garden Valley...

Oh, how sad that time is moving so swiftly for all of them - but time does that. Part of me wants Broccoli to solve the mystery before he retires because he is a good man and shouldn't feel that he has failed, then on the other hand it means finding out about his brother so perhaps that is best left alone? Can't wait to see how you resolve this!

A wonderful update, Senja!  It's so lovely to see everyone is well and getting along. Little Cherry is such a sweetie...\:wub\: .*scrunches nose up* and now they have a little Cauliflower....\:wub\: *scrunches nose up even more*. They seem to be quite the doting parents! \;\) I think Asparagus would be so proud. I saw another chapter has been published so I'm off to read that one too! \:\)
