Roan and Violet have braved crossing the bridge, but what does lurk on the other side of the river Veldom?

Roan and Violet have braved crossing the bridge, but what does lurk on the other side of the river Veldom? The land across the river was just like the other side, dense forest with a dirt path running through it.
Roan was tense crossing the bridge. His eyes were wide and darting,
"Relax," I told him. He looked at me and said nothing. He didn't relax.
After many hours of walking, we reached the fork in the road.
"I guess we turn left," I said, drained. I hadn't slept since the morning I woke up here.
We turned left and walked for a good hour before we reached the gates the elf-man had told us about.
They led to a large cemetery with an old creepy house at the back, the night air suddenly turned cold.
I gingerly took the handle of the gate and pulled it open, the joints were rusty and old so the gate creaked loudly. Roan started to follow me through the gate when... BANG!
The gates slammed in Roan's face. I gasped at the noise and whipped round. Roan frowned and after five minutes of battling with the gate handle, he accepted defeat.
"I guess it will only let me go," I said,
"But-"
"Don't worry, I'll be fine," I didn't feel I'd be fine,
"You're too optimistic," He said, shaking his head, "Don't go, it's dangerous,"
But, ignoring him, I walked down deeper into the cemetery. I could hear Roan calling me, but I kept my head forward, aiming for the stone steps that led up to the house.
This is it, I thought, After this I'll be going home. The thought of going home filled me with butterflies. I smiled involuntarily.
Climbing up the steps to the fountains, the butterflies turned to dread. What if the elf-man was lying? What horrifying creature will be in that house? I reached the front steps of the house all too quickly, my legs wobbled dangerously and my face was getting hotter and hotter. I opened the door, which opened very easily compared to the gates and stepped into the house. The grandfather clock on the wall had stopped working, it was permanently at mid-night and cob-webs stretched across its face in a silvery delicate net. I turned right instinctively and opened a door gently, I dreaded what I would find, but I still looked. I needed to get home. The room was furnished with a long table and a grand piano. The food on the buffet table was fresh even though the room was covered in dust and cob-webs.
Strange, I thought.
Finding the room empty, I backed out of the room and decided to try the room on the right. I walked back down the hall and gently opened the door... A woman with a beautiful golden dress sat in front of the fireplace,
"Hello?" I said, but she didn't turn round. I walked over in front of her.
I gasped in shock at the woman's face, I was not expecting what I saw... "Mum?" I said, but no sound came from my lips. She just stared in front of her at the fireplace, her eyes were strangly glazed over, "Mum?" I repeated. I walked round back of her again and poked her, hard. "She can't hear you," A voice said behind me, I whipped round and saw a man. He was dressed in clothes like the ones that old men wore in my world, not this one. He looked familiar, but I couldn't quite think if I'd met him before. "It's not your mum," He said, "She's just an image of what you fear the most. It shows that your worst fear is that your mother will no longer talk to you, or that you will lose her," "Who are you?" I asked, narrowing my eyes. He looked shocked, but understanding. "Don't you recognise me, Violet?" He asked, "I'm Charles Eldertree, your father,"
