“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.”
--Robert A. Heinlein
Spring had come and, I gazed out of my window, while trying not to think of what had happened to me in Egypt, I still couldn’t seem to get it off of my mind. How everything could have been so much different had the consequences been much worse than they were.

Life seemed so fragile to me and I found myself always being extra careful. It had been nearly seven months since our return back, and even though I came out of it with only a few dings and scratches, the scars you can't see, the ones deep down were much more painful. The memories haunted me nearly every night, the falling, the darkness, the gasping for air and just before my body would hit solid ground I would awake in a drenched sweat, unable to get back to sleep for hours. It had put a strain on mine and Ari’s relationship for a few months, he couldn’t help but feel responsible, though I assured him it was no one fault, when your careless and don't think, accidents happen.

While our relationship had hit a bump, Ella had let me in a little on Ari’s trouble with love in the past, and how she believed that her brother had finally found what he had wanted all along, and that this time it was true, on both ends. She explained to me that when I was in that hole, Ari had thought he was going to lose me and that he felt it was his fault, and that had caused conflict within himself, she told me to hang in there and allow him to deal with it in his own way and that he would indeed move past it. And she was right, it took some time but he did move past it, and things were back on track again.

Brielle was also doing well; I quickly came to find out that she lived in the same neighborhood, just up the road, and we quickly became good friends.

I continued to gaze out of the window lost in my own thoughts, it’s a scary place in there, my head that is.

“Dani…are you almost ready?” I heard a voice faintly say, but I did not react.

“DANI!” the voice said again. This time I recognized the voice, and answered startled.

“Girl don’t make me come in there!” Ella said.

“Relax; I was just taking a breather.” I retorted.
“Aww Dani, you look so beautiful!” she said to me.

“Thanks Ella.” I said back, with a slight worrisome in my tone.

“Everything ok?” she asked.

“Yes, it’s my nerves talking, I’ll be fine.” I assured her.

“Well you better be it’s almost time to go. I’m so excited! My little brother is getting married today and to my best friend!” she exclaimed.

“Ella, you’re only a few minutes older than him.” I reminded her.

“Yes, which makes him my little brother nonetheless.” She replied.
Brie came barreling through the door moments later.

“Look at you Dani, you look so beautiful, so elegant.” She said wiping a tear from her eye.

“No crying today, today is a happy day Brie!” I reminded her.

“These are tears of joy, it’s so exciting!” she screamed.

“We better get going the mom just dropped the car off.” Ella said as she hurried around grabbing some last minute items.
Ella wasn’t kidding when she said the car was old. It was the same car that Ari and Ella’s grandparents used when they got married, and then got passed down to their mother, and now was being passed down to us. It was in immaculate condition, and adorned in black in pink, which I was assured, was trendy back then. Either way it didn’t matter, I was ecstatic that they were passing it down to us; it was nice to feel a part of a tradition.

We piled into the car and headed to the beach, the very beach that Ari and I first met the same beach that we got engaged, and now we were getting married there. The town agreed to let us completely renovate it for the wedding, thanks to Ari’s parents who generously paid them. I have yet to see it but Ella says it’s just breathtaking.
The music started up, I took a deep breath, said a prayer and began to walk down the aisle, I could see everyone’s heads turn to look at me. I was the center of attention; I didn’t usually like it that way, but today I didn’t mind. I loved hearing all the Oooo’s and Ahhh’s, but nothing was better than the expression that was on Ari’s face when he seen me, his eyes were beaming with love, I could see him fiddle with his bowtie, loosening it a bit, I would seem as if I had taken his breath away. My stomach began to get nauseous, but not nervous nauseous, he himself, was stunningly handsome. I continued to walk down the aisle, as I approached the gazebo, Ella and Damien, which was one of Ari’s best buds and his best man, greeted me with a warm smile. I smiled back as I locked my eyes back on to Ari. In mere moments I would be Mrs. Ari Colville, and I suddenly thought of my mother, and how much I wish she could have been here to see this day, I know she’s watching somewhere out there and smiling down on me, which almost instantly put me at ease. The minister began to speak.

“Dearly beloved we are gathered here today to witness the coming together of Ari Colville and Daniella Lansing. Whose hearts and spirits are entwined as one. They now desire to profess before all the world their intention henceforth to walk the road of life together.

To these two young people, this marriage signifies the birth of a new spirit, a spirit which is a part of each of us, yet not of any one of us alone. This "birth of spirit" reminds us of spring, the season when all life is reborn and blooms again. It is appropriate, therefore, that this wedding of Ari and Daniella, be in the spring, and that it be under the open sky, where we are close to the earth and to the unity of life, the totality of living things of which we are part.

The beliefs and thoughts about love which motivate these two people are perhaps best expressed in the by an excerpt from the book of 1 Corinthians:

Love is patient, Love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.”

The minister then turned to Ari, as Ari gently grasped my hand in his and placed the ring on my finger.
“Ari, will you receive Daniella as your wife? Will you pledge to her your love, faith and tenderness, cherishing her with a husband's loyalty and devotion?"

“I will” Ari said as he looked longingly into my eyes and smiled at me warmly. I could feel a tear well up in the corner of my eye.
The minister then turned to me.
“Daniella, will you receive Ari as your husband? Will you pledge to him your love, faith and tenderness, cherishing him with a wife’s loyalty and devotion?”

“I will.” I said sniffling slightly, as I placed the ring on Ari’s finger, the well of tears that had formed in my eye were now gently streaming down my cheek, Ari brought his hand up and softly wiped them away with his fingertips, I looked into his eyes and smiled warmly back at him. My heart was racing, I just wanted to take him into my arms and kiss him.
The minister began to speak again.

“Ari and Daniella, receive each other from your fathers and mothers, who give you into each other's keeping, by saying now, each to the other, words which will tell of your love.”
“I, Ari Colville, take you, Daniella Lansing, to be no other than yourself, in all the ways life may find us, tending you in sickness and rejoicing with you in health, as long as we both shall live to love.” Ari said as he looked deeply into my eyes again. “I, Daniella Lansing, take you, Ari Colville, to be no other than yourself, in all the ways life may find us, tending you in sickness and rejoicing with you in health, as long as we both shall live to love.” I said back to him, also locking into his eye with a deep loving gaze. “Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be sanctuary to the other. Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other. Now there is no isolation for you. Now there is no more loneliness. Now you are two, but there is only one life in front of you.

Inasmuchas Ari and Daniella, have declared their love to each other before family and friends, I now pronounce them as husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.” He said as he turned to Ari and gave him the ‘go ahead’ nod.
Ari and I locked our lips firmly together as our friends and family rushed onto the gazebo cheering and congratulating, laughing and crying. Their sounds quickly faded out as I was swept off of my feet, I could only hear our hearts beating, now as one, and was lost in a sweet embrace with my husband. Ari’s mother had showered us with rice as we exited the gazebo. I stopped at the bottom and turned to Ari.

“It was a beautiful ceremony, thank you.” I said to him. He laughed.

“Why are you thanking me?” he asked still laughing.

“For being the one person in my life, other than myself, that I can count on, for being my rock, my solid foundation, my husband. I love you Ari.” I said to him tearing up.
He then took me into his arms; my face fell gently around his hands, he looked to me and spoke softly.

“You don’t ever need to thank me for loving you Dani, if anything I should be thanking you for walking into my life and allowing me to feel what true love is, though loving you hasn’t always been easy, it has always been unconditional, and always will be.” He said to me as he kissed me gently on the forehead.
We walked back down the aisle and out of the ceremony together, this time as husband and wife, it was our first walk together in our new journey in life, and I couldn’t have been happier. We watched as our friends and family stood one by one with smiles as wide as the sky. The dinner was amazing; Ella and Damien both gave short but sweet toast to us.

“Dani, you have been such an important part of Ari’s life over the last two years, and I wish you both the love and happiness, that I see in this room at this very moment, for an eternity, Ari, as I grew up with you I have come to see every day what a wonderful man you have turned into, you are not only lucky, but deserving to have such a profound love with Dani, my best to you both.” She said as she turned to us.

“Give me a paintbrush, canvas and paint and I could paint you all the words that should be said in this speech beautifully, since I am no good with words I hope this speech isn’t too cheesy.” Damien said, laughing briefly. “Dani, I do not know you well enough, but I know Ari well enough to know that he has found something very special and I have never seen him happier, thank you for that, Ari, my man Ari, you’re an extremely talented man in anything you put your mind to, I have nothing but faith that you and Dani will have your happily ever after, I wish you both all the love and happiness in your marriage.” He said as he raised his glass.

Everyone stood up and cheered and clapped and clanked glasses and shouted.

“To Ari and Dani!”
Ari and I enjoyed our first dance together as husband and wife under the stars. I wish that I could have bottled this moment, the sounds of the tide gently washing on shore, the low hum of the song we had chosen for our first dance, the beating of our hearts together, the feel of Ari so close to me as our eyes immersed each other’s, the way that Ari nestled his nose into my neck before singing the lyrics softly in my ear.

“Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you”

Yes I wish so much that I could bottle it all up, and save it for a rainy day.
After our dance, the beat picked up a little as every joined in to dance. I looked around at all the faces I have come to known, everyone looked so happy and was having a good time. This made me smile; I was beginning a new part of my life, leaving the old behind me. My mother would have been very proud. We were all having such a good time we hadn’t realized what time it was until it had started to become light, the dawn was setting in as well as clouds, it looked like rain, so everyone kindly said their congratulations and good byes before heading out. Ari’s mother pulled us aside as her husband pulled up the car. She looked at Ari.

“Ari, Dani, before you go we have a gift for the two of you, and we hope that you like it as much as we did when we picked it out for you, I know that I would have loved to have had this on my wedding day, but since mine, nor your fathers parents couldn’t afford such a gift, it made you father and I very proud and happy to be able to do it for you.” She said in a soft tone as she handed Ari an envelope. She gave him and I a kiss on the cheek before making her exit. She turned to us before reaching the landing of the stairs.

“I hope that you two will be happy and enjoy our gift.” She said as she walked into the distance.
We opened the envelope, not exactly sure what to expect. Inside of the envelope were a key and a small neatly folded piece of paper with an address and a note. It read:

“Ari and Dani, may the two of you make everlasting memories here.
Mom and Dad.”

“What do you think it is?” Ari asked.

“Honeymoon suite maybe?” I said. I could feel the color from my cheeks drain. We both looked at each other, both our cheeks flushed, though we have thought about this exact moment, probably many of times, we hadn’t really thought of it tonight.
Ari picked me up and twirled me around.

"Daniella Colville, do you know how happy you make me." he said to me.

"I can only hope, as happy as you make me." I said back to him.
We sat at the bar for a drink before we decided to find out what our gift was. I thought that it would have been uncomfortable, knowing what we both were thinking when we opened the envelope and read the note. We had never had a relationship get that point, by choice of course, but it was a little nerve wrecking, I know that I had an absolutely perfect wedding, and everything after our ceremony just fell into place. I was only hoping that when it came time for us to; consummate our marriage that too would be perfect.

We finished our drinks and sat there for a moment, gazing at each other.

“Well are you ready to find out what this amazing gift is?” Ari asked me with a little eagerness in his tone.

“Yes, let’s go!” I said back with the same tone.
When we pulled up on the address I noticed that it wasn’t a hotel at all like I had thought, it was a house, a big house, and a beautiful one at that.

“Um Ari?” I asked a little confused.

“Yes, sweetie.” He replied.

“Are you sure we are at the right address?” I asked.

“Yes, 36 Sweetwater Loop.” He said

“Um, I might be a little off the mark here, but I think your parents bought us a house.” I said to him.

“That would make sense; I overheard my mother on the phone with a realtor last month, I thought that they were just selling their house and buying smaller.” He said.
We stood in front of the house stricken with awe. I examined it closely, the gardens in the windows, the porch, I could see a double stairway just through the front door, it was simply beautiful.

“Well, shall we go inside and have a look, or are we going to stand out here all morning looking at it?” Ari asked.

“Let’s go inside.” I said to him.

“Well then we shall do a proper entrance.” he said, his voice overjoyed. He smiled at me warmly before scooping me up into his arms.
He walked up the stairs carefully but with ease and just before he opened the door to carry me over the threshold he stopped on the landing and looked into my eyes. He did not speak a single word, he just gazed at me, I looked back at him I could see my reflection in his eyes, looking back at me was not the sad teenager I had come to know for some time after my mother’s death, what I saw was a young woman with love in her eyes, a smile so wide it could part oceans, and a certain sparkle in my own eyes that I had never seen before. He leaned in and left a gentle kiss on my lips before carrying me inside. When we got inside, I didn’t even get a chance to look at our new home before he pulled me into his arms for a passionate kiss. His wrapped his hands snugly around my waist and pulled me so close that I could barely breathe. He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine, I completely melted in his arms. Sometime later we had a look around the house. It was pretty much empty but beautiful nonetheless, there were beautiful hardwood floors throughout, and the kitchen had a beautiful stone back-splash. There was a nice big living room and a laundry room that led into another room that would have been perfect for Ari to use as a studio. We headed upstairs, there looked like there had to be at least 4 bedrooms and a bathroom. We opened one of the bedroom doors and were taken back. The only room in the house that was furnished was what looked to be our bedroom. It was decorated with a soft blue palette, silk bed sheets and rich wood furniture. We were both exhausted after the events of the day and got ourselves ready for bed. We cuddled in bed for a little while, planning our housewarming party, and talking about the future. Ari then turned to me. “You were the most beautiful and breathtaking bride I have ever seen in my life Dani.” He said to me.

“And you were the most amazingly handsome groom I had ever seen in my life.” I said back to him.

He then kissed me softly, that soft innocent kiss quickly turned into a kiss that was even more passionate then we have had before.
He leaned me back gently making sure to put a pillow under my head before it hit the bed, our lips still entwined with the others, he gently pulled himself on top of me and our passion had reached new heights it hadn’t before. He gently caressed me with his hands, tracing the outline of my body with his fingertips. He tugged lightly at my robe pulling the knot apart. We parted lips momentarily as he looked at me, I smiled and nodded at him, our lips reunited passionately as he continued to caress my body. The more our kiss had become and his hands had explored my body, the more intense I had begun to feel, my heart began to race faster, and my body responded what I assume to be appropriately. I pulled back from the kiss and looked at him.

“I love you Ari.” I said as I looked into his ocean blue eyes.

“I love you to Dani.” He said back. Though I know I didn’t need the reassurance that he loved me, in the moment, it felt like right thing to do before things would go any further, then suddenly all forms of logical thought went out the window as I forced my body on top of his and began to kiss him, the same way he had kissed me. His hands were still gently caressing my body as he gently let my hair out of the neatly wrapped bun I had tied it into and guided my robe off.
After my robe had been removed and my flesh exposed from underneath, other than what was covered by the lingerie I had bought for just this occasion, Ari looked at me with a pleasant smile on his face, I sat there vulnerable, but it wasn’t an uncomfortable vulnerability, I was about to give myself to my husband for the first time, to anyone for the first time, he made me feel so at ease, so beautiful which had only eased my fears, he turned to me and kissed me, as I began to caress his body, gently removing his robe. Suddenly there we both were, stripped down to our under garments, enveloped in a passionate embrace, I hadn’t let my brain or my emotions prepare for what came next, I just let it happen naturally. We fumbled around at first, both of us embarrassed at ourselves, but neither one of us willing to admit it, we were both new to this, but eventually we had smoothed out all the kinks and everything went smoothly along. Ari was so gentle, and loving at first… Eventually we got passed the kind and caring, loving touches as pure passion began to ignite under the covers, we moved around, our hands and feet falling out of the blankets in every direction possible. I had never really imagined how my first time would be, but if I had, I would never have imagined it could be so many things as it was tonight. After things were said and done, we lied in bed facing each other, almost speechless. Ari looked at me with a smile on his face.

“Wow” he said.

“Wow is right.” I replied. He pulled me in and pecked me on the lips. I closed my eyes and began to drift off, but not before I heard him speak.

“I love you Dani, probably more than you could ever possibly know.”
A small collection of photos from Ari and Dani's wedding, hope you all enjoy!
