What lies behind us,
and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

"But... what about Dad?" I asked hopelessly,
"I'm sorry, Rosa," Haimon said, "Mason will have sent a team out, he won't remember you in the morning."
"Oh." I said crestfallen, there was nothing left for me to live for. "Then I chose death."
Haimon sighed, "Very well, I'll leave you in peace," He got up. He started walking away,
"Hey," I said, "Aren't you going to kill me?"
"You have no blood left in your body." He said simply and left. I sat there for what seemed like hours, thinking about my life, Dad, when Mum died. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't cry.
Sighing, I got up and went to the bookcase. Might as well die entertained. I picked out a book called, 'A Murder in Pleasantview'. I opened the book and started to read, but I couldn't concentrate, the words jumped about the page and rearranged themselves. Frustrated, I stood up and a dizzy spell came over me. I lost grip of the book and tried to hold on to the bed. But I didn't reach it in time, I fell to the floor and the world around me went black. I opened my eyes and everything was black. I squeezed my eyes shut and opened them, I still couldn't see anything. I tried to move my hand to rub my eyes, but I couldn't move. Breathing in, something got caught in my throat and I could taste dirt. I'd been buried alive! Starting to panic, I forced my hands upwards and the soil parted. I pushed myself up and my finger tips felt cold air. I broke through the surface of the ground and pulled myself onto the ground breathing heavily. I stood up and a sharp stabbing pain in my stomach caused me to scream out loud. I felt a tap on my shoulder... It was Haimon. He held out a glass of red liquid out for me, it smelt divine. I snatched it out of his hand and drank it in one gulp. Then I came to my senses and dropped the empty glass. I knew what he'd done. "I told you I wanted to die!" I shouted angrily, though a part of me was glad for it, "Wasn't that good enough for you? Now because of you I'm stuck a monster!" "I-I'm sorry," Haimon stammered, "I saw you lying there, I couldn't let you die. I'm not a killer." I paused for a moment, contemplating this. Then I brought my hand round to slap him... The force of which knocked him to the ground. He scrambled to his feet, he was annoyed now.
"I'm sorry. It is done. There's nothing you or I can do about it, now will you please act like a civilised adult? There are things I need to tell you that are crucial for your survival."
"What's the point?" I said, "I wanted to die anyway."
"Fine." He said sternly, "Help yourself."
He started to walk away. I stayed where I was for a second, but then thought better of it.
"Hey, wait!" I called after him.
I ran towards him, he stopped and turned to face me. "Then we start tomorrow, it's almost dawn and you wouldn't want to be outside when the sun comes up." He said, we quickly went inside. He led be back up to the octagonal room and showed me my room. "This is where you'll sleep, I'll wake you up when breakfast is ready,"
"Okay," I sighed, I could already guess what breakfast would be.
"Good night," He said and then left. I scowled at the back of his head, when he was gone I sighed again unhappily. I looked in the mirror. I guess one upside would be actually having a reflection. I hated the way my eyes glowed red and I didn't dare open my mouth. I yawned unexpectedly and I realised I was really tired. I went to the wardrobe and found all my clothes there. I absent-mindedly put on my pyjamas as I wondered how they'd gotten there. I got into the bed, it was the most comfortable bed I'd ever been in. I rested my head upon the pillow and closed my eyes, I dreamed about Mum and Dad and my life before I'd changed. "Wakey, wakey!" A voice floated into my eyes, "Rise and shine!" I opened my eyes and saw Haimon standing over me. I quickly got out of bed and faced him. "Breakfast is ready, do you want it up here or do you feel prepared to meet the clan?" Haimon asked, I paused and frowned up at him, utter dislike of him left a bitter taste in my mouth.
"I'll meet the clan," I said. I didn't want him to think I was scared. But of course I was.
