Ok so, ik ik.....I am no where NEAR finished with Beyond Midnight, but I felt like doing another story along with it. And so I present you 'Medicine of the Heart.' Sorry for any spelling or grammatical errors. I hope you guys like it!
This is the story of how if different people reach out their hearts to each other, maybe we could heal our old wounds. I am Jessica Rouche. And this is my daughter, Delilah Rouche. We are a very poor family, as you can probably tell from our surroundings. Last week I applied for the People of the Country Help Program(P.C.H.P). They help poor families get a better life. From giving us money, to finding a family that can take us under their wing. I just hope they really can help us..... I sighed as I read through the newspaper articles. Nothing that really concerned me... One article caught my eye:
Kimiko and Jason Lawliet started funding the P.C.H.P. They also decided they could take in a family if needed. The two celebrities donated over one million dollars to P.C.H.P. The company is rapidly choosing families to help. They have yet to choose one to have the Lawliet's take in. Who will it be?
I felt a small flame of hope start to flicker inside of me. What if I was the one chosen to live with the Lawliet's? I sighed, knowing there were probably hundreds of others wondering that. Just then a loud knock rang through my house. I sighed and put down my newspaper.
I opened my door and stepped out onto my porch. A woman with curly hair smiled at me. I swallowed, wondering who she was. Obviously she wasn't from around here.
"Hello, I am Sandra Ricardo from P.C.H.P.. Is Jessica Rouche here?" The curly-haired woman asked.
"Yes. I am Jessica. How can I help you Sandra?" I asked, feeling the flame of hope flare up again.
"Yes, may I come in to talk to you?" Sandra asked me.
"Uh, sure..." I said, feeling a bit nervous for letting in a total stranger. But the flame blazed stronger in me, telling me it was ok.
Sandra and I sat down on the couch.
"Ms. Rouche, You applied fro the P.C.H.P., Correct?" Sandra asked me.
"Yes, I applied last week." I replied, the flame growing brighter inside of me.
"Well, your family have been chosen to live with another family. Ok, so to determine how to place you with a family, bring all members of your household out to meet me please. This helps us decide which family we should place you with." Sandra explained. I nodded and stood up to go get Delilah from her afternoon nap.
Delilah squealed happily as I lifted her out of her crib.
"Delilah, sweetie. Someone is here to meet you. She's going to help us find a better life." I said gently to her. She giggled excitedly.
"Life! Better! Lady!" Delilah laughed. I couldn't help but smile at her optimism.
I walked back out into the living room, Delilah balanced on my hip. Sandra smiled at her.
"Hi there sweetheart, whats your name?" Sandra asked kindly. Delilah smiled, but didn't say anything, for some reason acting shy.
"Her name's Delilah. For some reason she's being really shy today." I said, smiling at Delilah.
"Well, I think I know which of the families you should live with. Say farewell to Twinbrook. Pack your bags. Your going to Bridgeport." Sandra said, smiling. I put down Delilah.
"Really? Who are we going to live with?" I asked, ecstatic.
"You will know when you meet them. We will send them your information today. Be at the airport tomorrow at 8 am sharp." Sandra said, smiling. "A new start is ahead of you girls."
