My attempt at the first series of stories. Thank you for reading. It had been many days now, from the time that Henry had landed on this strange land. In this time he had not found anyone living in this city. Henry had started feeling very lonely. Was he doomed to die here in this strange land, lonely! But this night was going to turn Henry's life forever. Henry had observed some ship sailing not far from the island. As he had gone home to sleep, he did not hear the screams and groans of a sinking ship.

A girl, the lone survivor of the shipwreck, feeling cold, lost and frightened, began to slowly make her way to the town. As she went around the town, fear gripped her. She had not seen anyone around till the time she came to Henry's house.

Relieved she made her way to the house and knocked. When no one answered, she was disappointed. But then she seemed to feel a special connection. She went in.
Henry was sitting reading a old paper which was one of the few possessions on him when he had awakened on this new land. He was quietly going through it not really understand what it was all about.

He heard the soft click of the front door closing. A feeling of excitement ran down his spine. In the land where he knew lived not a single soul, someone or something had just entered his home. As he rose up to his feet, he saw the girl entering slowly.
They looked at each other for a long time. Henry didn't know how to react. After so many days and months he had seen one more person. He had accepted that he would die alone in this strange land.

Henry stared at the girl for a long time. The girl was soaked. She looked mysterious, beautiful and Henry felt a sense of comfort around her even though she was a stranger who had entered his house with a suddenness of magic.
"Who are you?" asked Henry, as he finally found his voice.

"I am Linda," she replied softly, "I hope you don't mind me barging into your house but I could not find anyone else I could go to"

"I am the only person here," Henry answered with a strain of sadness in his voice. "Mmmm... It's like....... I suddenly found myself on the beach. I couldn't remember where I came from, how I got here or what I used to be."

Henry stared out of the window, the last few months playing out in front of him. "All I remember is my name"
"And your name is...." Linda inquired softly.

"Henry Drake"

"What is this place?" Linda asked, almost to herself.

"When I awoke on the beach, I couldn't understand where I was. I roamed all through the town. Found many buildings, trees, mines and caves. But not a living soul. There was not even a single grave at the graveyard," Henry went on. He narrated all that happened to him until now.
"But, How did you come here? And what were you doing out in the sea in this weather?"

Linda didn't know where to begin. She stared at her feet for a long time, thinking all about the events which preceded her leaving her house.

"I had....... a .... fight," came a broken reply.

Henry felt a strange reluctance in Linda to divulge her past. Henry found her even more mysterious.

"And........" Henry probed.

There was no reply. Linda stared at her feet, silent for a long time.
Henry let go of the topic. He gave her a set of clothes from the pile of clothes he had once scavenged from the abandoned laundry. He showed her to the bathroom and made the bed ready for her. He served her some food. Linda wolfed the food down. "She must be really hungry," thought Henry, "What's really happened to her." Henry was slightly worried for her. He couldn't understand why he felt the way he did but he did worry.

The night he spent on the sofa. Not giving much thought to Linda's silence on her past or how she ended up on this strange island, Henry quickly went off to sleep.

Linda lay on the bed, thankful to Henry for not probing into her past. She didn't feel like sharing her past with him. "What if he thinks badly of me," Linda thought to herself. "I am not proud of what I have done in the past....," thinking, Linda slowly went into a deep slumber. She had been tired with all the happenings of the day before she was washed ashore.
The next few days went off in a haze. Linda and Henry spoke about a lot of things. But Linda stayed clear from the discussions that had anything to do with her past. After a few attempts, Henry stopped probing into her past.

They roamed the land together, ate fruits they found on the trees on the way, searched for food, cooked and watched T.V together. They soon became very good friends. But Henry never again asked Linda about her past. On her part, Linda still felt insecure about revealing the events that led upto her going on board the doomed ship.
The friendship between Henry and Linda blossomed every day they spent with each other. Linda began learning to sculpt along with Henry. Once Henry took on the project of sculpting Linda in Ice. By the time Henry had sculpted Linda in Ice, he had fallen in love with her. He couldn't help it. But he was very comfortable with her. He could share with her anything he felt and thought.

"She is sweet, beautiful and so mysterious," Henry thought to himself one day. "And I don't really have a choice in girls."
Days went by. Henry grew closer to Linda. Linda felt very close to Henry as well. She could feel herself falling in love with a man who was not just her only choice but who understood her very well. He left her alone the minute he realized that she didn't want to discuss the past. He made her laugh and feel special. Something which she had not done or felt in last so many years. Days continued. Each falling in love with other. Days continued as they used to for Henry but there was one thing different. For all the things he used to do alone, he now had a companion, a friend. Henry stopped visiting the beach so often. He didn't need to look out for the ship anymore. He was not alone now.

Linda on her part began enjoying sculpting. She enjoyed the creativity. She felt nice about keeping her hands and mind busy.
One day Henry decided to open his heart to her and admit his feelings to her.

"Linda..," he said softly, "I want to...," he broke off, trying to find confidence to go ahead. Linda looked straight into his eyes, waiting to hear what she had been wanting to hear for so long.

"Linda, I have been wanting to say this to you for a long time," Henry began finally, his confidence going down with every word he said. He looked into her eyes.

"What if she says no," he thought. "I love you," he said aloud in a rush. He looked at Linda in anticipation, holding his breath.
"I love you too, Henry" came a soft reply.

Henry was in seventh heaven. He gave her a kiss on her cheeks. He felt a lot of love for this woman standing in front of her. He didn't care what was her past. He just loved her. And she loved him. That was enough for Henry.
They kissed. The kiss lasted for a long time. This kiss sealed their fate together. It was a sign of the happy times to come ahead. Linda was feeling very happy. She had found the love of her life. And she belonged to him

Something still troubled her. She still had this insecurity of her past tugging at her heart stopping her from being really happy.
