The Garden ladies...

The wedding continues...

The Garden ladies...

The wedding continues...
- Now, deed you see my daughter-een-law? 'Ow she was behaving! Seemply 'orreeble... Such bad taste! She should 'ave saved such behavior for thee wedding night!
- I agree, Dom, it was indeed very bad manners for them to be so squishy... and in -your- kitchen! I must say, I lost my appetite for the wedding cake... Such a shame, it's a beautiful cake! Great job Dom... But now I must leave, I don't think I can spend another moment with your daughter-in-law...
- Oui, I understand... Eet was great to 'ave you 'ere!
Ella was so engaged in talking with Jere that she did not notice the inappropriately dressed, uninvited guest enter the kitchen. This uninvited guest was naturally a paparazzi, the one sim Egg and Ella, and especially Dill, had wanted to keep away from the party. Elderberry could not believe her eyes, and nor could Dill, who almost dropped the blender on the floor when he saw the horrible yellow shirt Rafael had sported earlier on, combined to blue capris and jogging shoes. There was no doubt this woman was a paparazzi, after all she was NOT wearing a soccer shirt, which eliminated the chance of her being a neighbor who had simply forgotten to dress appropriately.

- Oh no! Someone do something! Get her out of here!

Elderberry not-so-kindly escorted the unwanted visitor out of the house, knowing that the next day there would be a terribly false story in the papers, with some rather ridiculous photos of Dill having a nervous breakdown and Ella breaking into tears in front of the camera. Elderberry relocked the gate to keep the other curious gossip-seekers out but she knew the damage had already been done. If she only had stayed in Bridgeport...
Not too soon after the paparazzi had been kicked out, the remaining guests decided to leave as well. Dommithilde could not help but smile at the disastrous wedding while Dill, now calm again, grabbed a plateful of the untouched salad.

- Oh well, congratulations Ella, I'm sure Egg will be back home soon... Dom, would you mind starting the clean up? I think I'll go down to the basement to work out the stress...
- Not at all, chri... Je t'aime...
- I love you too, cupcake... If there's anything you need help with, just let me know, okay? Just yell my name!
Dommithilde had cleaned the entire house except Elderberry and Egg's old room. She walked there slowly, there was an odd pain on her chest. When she closed the door, she felt strange, light, and there was no pain on her chest anymore, nor anywhere else on her body. She felt at peace. Dommithilde looked down. A golden urn had appeared on the floor. Where did it come from? Who was it for? Who was dead? - Good evening Dommithilde, congratulations on the marriage of your son!

Dommithilde froze. The Grim Reaper had come to get her. Talk about a good timing. Dommithilde smiled as she thought how everyone would be crying over her death, Egg and Ella would have no wedding night whatsoever, not tonight.

Then it struck her. When had she turned into this bitter old woman?
- Please, geeve me some more time, I want to make eet up to everyone, especially to Ella!

The Grim Reaper listened to Dommithilde's pleas. He listened as she wailed and begged him to let her spend one more day in the world of living, to make up for her past mistakes.
But the answer was no. Dommithilde's time was up, and the living ones would have to find it in their hearts to forgive. The Grim Reaper sensed that there would be difficult times ahead for the family. - Oh mum, why did you have to go? Why tonight?

Eggplant was so tired. The whole day had been such an emotional roller-coaster, now all he wanted to do was to go to his bedroom and be comforted by Ella.
- Egg it's all my fault!

Ella was sobbing on Egg's shoulder. She had been the one to find Dommithilde's urn and she blamed herself for the death of her mother-in-law. As heartbroken as Eggplant was about his mother's death, Ella's sobs made his chest ache much more than seeing the urn in his old bedroom. Why would she blame herself?
- Shh, love, don't cry, she was old, the hassle with the wedding was probably too much for her heart...
- EXACTLY! It's all my fault, she hated me but she saw so much trouble to get this wedding to be perfect... I did absolutely nothing to help her! SHE IS DEAD AND IT'S ALL MY FAULT!

Egg stared at his newlywed wife. That look on her face, it sent shivers down Egg's spine, and most definitely not in a good way. Why, Ella looked like she would never smile again! Egg's heart shattered into thousand tiny pieces as he watched Ella's pain. He would make her smile again, he promised to himself. No matter how long it would take.
Egg and Ella were not the only ones in the house mourning over Dommithilde's death. Dill could not believe that he had not been there when Dommithilde had move to the Other Side. He had not been there to say goodbye, he had been downstairs, working out while the love of his life had passed away. He would never forgive himself.

Elderberry was crying as well. She might not have showed her affection for her mother but she had loved her dearly. Still, Elderberry felt relieved. Her mother had been a very difficult person to deal with during her last years but now Elderberry was free to live her own life, maybe even return to Evan...
But Elderberry was wrong.

- You are not going anywhere! It's all your fault that your mother is dead, if you had been here to help with the wedding arrangements, she would still be alive!
- WHAT? Dad, you can't be serious! I am grown-up, I can live my own life as I see fit.. Besides, I am quite sure mum died tonight just to ruin Egg and Ella's wedding night!
- HOW DARE YOU! Elderberry Garden, you are the heiress of this family, this name, this house and you are not going anywhere. You are going to find yourself a sim to marry and to produce the next generation of the Garden family, you hear me?!
- I will do no such thing! I am not some kind of baby machine, and trust me, I have no intention on ever getting married or having children! Not after this, NEVER!
- Then you are no daughter of mine. I will make Egg the heir, he is much more suitable anyways. But you will not leave this house, not over my dead body!
- So be it! I think mother would be proud of you, dad, you are just as devoted to controlling everyone's lives as she was.

So ended the day that was supposed to be the happiest in years.
