Thank you for reading my first story. I would like to thank all the wonderful creators out there who make our stories much more interesting with their designs! I will try to get the next chapter up soon as a can, but in the mean time enjoy! My name is Arianna Stone. I'm a journalist. I pride myself on my keen journalistic investigative skills. Always ready for a challenge, and of course never taking "you can't be in here" or "no comment" as the end of a journey for an answer. I have to admit, my determination, as I like to call it, has gotten me in trouble during my world travels. I have been thrown in prison in China, trapped in a collapsing tomb in Egypt, and expelled-banned from France but I won't get into that right now. I usually am prepared for the unexpected in my line of work. I never expected this. It all started with my "vacation," yes I know funny right? My editor frankly suggested a get a life and live it. He stated he loved my work, but all you do is work. ""Arianna, you do not use any of your benefit time, or even call in sick." "Life is short, and you're working yourself into a grave." He expressed my articles would be better....less forced and robotic if I relaxed a little more, so he forced a vacation down my throat. It was hard to swallow. He sent me home in his personal limo, and told me to take two weeks for myself. It would be the longest two weeks of my life. I went to my rented apartment. Believe it or not I have a well boyfriend, Kevin Flynn. He has been understanding about my workaholic nature, and my little hiccups with my foreign diplomatic relations. We have been together two years now, and I have seen him only maybe a month during that two year time. Upon my entry into the apartment Kevin said with a irritated tone, "I expected you over four hours ago. Food is in the fridge. I WAS hoping for a romantic evening, but that hope was ruined again." He added, "I'm not sure if you are really invested in this relationship, and I'm...," he stuttered "Moving out in the morning." He couldn't even look at me. All I could think was how could my day get any worse. But I couldn't blame him. I rarely go home because you seen I live, yes live out of my suitcase in hotels, tents, the occasional library I had no living family. Only child, lost my parents when I was young. It's always been Perhaps I liked it that way. I could see the rose petals he had thrown around the bed for his last attempt at a romantic evening. I sighed and pulled out my laptop and started planning this unwanted vacation. "Quite bed in breakfast, ha ah no. Theme park.....person in giant mouse costume..I think not. Oh wait this looks promising." I had come across Bridgeport. This town boasted to be the New York of the Midwest, with its dazzling lights and trendy clubs. I really tried not to roll my eyes, because it looked just like any other city to me, but this wasn't what had interested me. After a-lot of linking to other sites there was this small town news paper article about Castle DrakluI. I do not think the article is what really interested me most. It was the picture! In this" bustling" city there was a castle like this on the mountain top overlooking the city! It seemed so out of place, so....other worldly. The article didn't say anything about visitors, hotel bookings, general tours, anything like that. It took some digging well into the morning, but I found the contact information for the owner. With some of my famous determination, or just plain stubbornness, I was able to secure an opportunity to stay at this place and hopefully an opportunity to interview the owner. I would relax and work on a new article at the same time. I packed my bags. It was either my excitement over a new trip or my tunnel vision focus, but either way I didn't even notice Kevin leave during the morning. The apartment seemed empty without him. But I didn't want to dwell on another failed relationship. Life was short, and I was determined to be on the top of editorial food chain. I glanced over my bags to make sure I had everything packed while thinking I needed to invest in some better travel luggage since mine was a little worn. Once everything was checked, I set off on my long road trip. A drove a rental car about 500 miles before seeing city lights. I could hardly contain my excitement! I knew it was still an hour drive or more through the city to the bridge and up the mountain side to my destination, but I was finally seeing the light at the end of this tunnel, boy was I right! All of sudden I heard a rumble. To be honest, I thought it was my stomach (at first), since I was both nervous-excited and starving at the same time. The next thing I know rocks are smashing into the side of my car and my car is sliding off the cliff side, the city skyline goes out of view, and everything goes black.
